Red face questions about phentermine
Hi guys, I am still new here this is my second day. Things are pretty good so far but I am just having a little trouble with ideas of things to eat for meals or snacks. I have a hubby and kids too so It's hard to think of stuff that I can make for him that can easily accomidate me. Anyway I have one question that so far I can't find a real answer for. I am wondering other than appetite suppressing and supposed energy, what is it that phen does? I do believe all the people that talk so highly of it I am just wondering how exactly it works because a lot of the things that i eat are already low calorie and I realize that before I was eating more than a portion but I know that I need to eat smaller portions and more often to lose and speed up my metabolism, but isn't it hard to do when it's supposed to supress your hunger? I mean so far it seems to work but I don't usually get hungry during the day anyway, I eat mostly out of boredom or stress so can this still help me? I can tell that I get full faster but then I still need to keep eating through the day right? Also I was wondering what kind of eating habits most of u have changed to, because my doc says that it needs to be low carb and high protein and that I shouldn't eat any fruit or yogurt or anything with sugar. But honestly I feel like if it were that easy to change how I eat then I wouldn't need the pills. I have done atkins before and lost 12 pounds in 3 weeks but it was so restrictive It was hard to stick to so that is why I gained it back. I have been changing my eating habits a lot. I haven't had soda or sugary drinks just water or unsweetend tea and I hardly eat bread I have started eating only cereals like shredded wheat or raisin bran or grape nuts with yogurt and trail mix with dried friut and nuts and granola and unsweetend applesauce. I have been doing this for about 3 months now and lost 13 pounds without even noticing. I don't eat a lot of sweets except for lately cookies and ice cream but now I can avoid that stuff, I have just told myself that if I do crave sugar or something sweet I can have trail mix or yogurt with grape nuts. So anyway sorry to ramble I am just hoping to get some tips on how u guys eat that would still be healthy but not impossible for food addicts ya know.
thanks

Welcome!

This site is a great place to get ideas and read everyone's stories. I've been inspired so many times here!

I have been exercising since October 2007 but unable to lose weight. I started Phen about 7 weeks ago when my doctor suggested it. He had been to a conference where a well known bariatric surgeon spoke. The surgeon stated that doctors are not trying diet pills as an alternative to surgery. So he wrote the ** and I decided to give it a try

For me, the compulsive overeating is gone. I have not been following a specific eating plan but I know that I will have to eventually. Weight Watchers makes the most sense for me and I'll be counting points again soon. I've continued to exercise and with the weight loss, I can increase my cardio. Here is what I noticed beyond that:

1) dry mouth
2) sleeplessness
3) clenching jaw
4) lots of sweating during exercise (I mean, pouring down, dripping!! haha)
5) for the first time in my life, feeling FULL during a meal and able to stop!
6) acne outbreak here and there

Keep coming back to this site for great ideas and information. Good luck!

A set back is a set up for a come back

Geesh, I totally agree with the clenching jaw thing ! I've been on phen for 2 and a half weeks and its a wonderful pill for appetite suppresant and energy but I literally have to make myself stop gritting my teeth. Wonder why the heck it does that ?

hey girly!!!

i am on day 3 of phen and im sooo energetic i cant sit still!! imnot hungry either, but eat a little every few hours to keep the metabolism going!! but im so fidgety right now i cant throughly read your post, but i will giveu my 2 cents anyhow. drinks lots of water, and celery is a life saver for me!! great snack to munch on ESPECIALLY if u are a stress/binger/emotional eater, cause celery is a negative calorie food (burns more calories to digest it, then u absorb, each stalk is like 10 calories at the most), has fiber, and will fill u up and takes lots of chewing so it helps with the "chew" psychology of emotional eating.

as for meals for the family, i have a dh and mil that live with me and i cook lots of grilled chicken, steak, porkribs, ect. (i low carb, only veggies and meat and healthy fats). i make lots of tossed salads and for them i will buy a can of new potatoes, or slice some potatoes, sautee in olive oil and parsley, add some seasoning, and they love em! along with these bagged veggies called "steamers" are great as are any frozen bagged veggies to just throw on the grill in tin foil with the meat and walla! quick and easy!! u will be surprised how yummy eating healthy can be!!! im the only one on a diet in my household, yet everyone loves what i cook. like last night i made homemade sugar free bbq sauce, put it in a pot with boneless pork ribs and cooked for an hour in the oven. for me i had a salad and some green beans. for dh and the mil, they had salad and i made some baked potatoes. healthy and very nutritious, balanced, no preservatives, or chemicals. nothing processed is my motto!!

anyway im rambling. but im right there with ya!! keep in touch!!

ohhh and i use the rule of thumb, a portion of something is 1 fistful. so 1 portion of meat is 1 fistful, ect. and wow im very full when i eat. !!

oh and the sugar cravings, once u wean yourself off of it, u wont miss it!! ive been there!!

and WALLA ----CELERY --- is great to munch on when a sugar craving hits. when u completely take all sugar out of ur diet fruit, cookies, ect, u gonna be in withdrawl, but it lasts about a week. drink lots of water, take a tylenol if u gotta, go for a walk, munch on celery or grilled chicken, protein too helps with cravings!!!

i have been lowcarbing since feb 2008. lost 26 lbs that way, and then got on phen now to make me lose faster. and man i feel great!!!!!

i thought i felt wonderful just low carbing and having soo much energy and all the blah stuff detoxed outta my system, now with phen i feel even better!!!

thanks for the info guys. So far I don't think I have had any side effects at all except maybe this tummy ache but it could be from all the veggies. The Dr. gave me some digestive enzymes and i have to take it 30 minutes after I eat and then I feel it rumbling in there. Not what i expected but hey if it works I can live with it. Also having no side affects could be because I only take 15 mg. I am pretty sure it's the regular phen and not a generic or something like it cause that's what is says on the bottle but I don't feel any energy so eventually I might take two a day instead of one. But I do however want to start the B12. It's $10 per week for the shots and he says they don't always work and u have to take them 6 or 7 times every week to find out if it does work for u, but honestly the price seems a little steep to take a chance on. Plus I have heard some people on here that say they only get it once a month. Are the b12 pills just as good?
Anyway Thanks again and I will keep yas updated.

Welcome!!!! You will love Phen if you continue what you are doing. As far as the Family they eat what I eat grilled, baked or sauteed meat. I eat whole foods such as brown rice, oatmeal, veggies, fruits. For snacks I do fruit ,yogurt or protein shakes. Or I do those 100 calorie snacks. I like pickles for snacks too. Edy makes a GREAT FROZEN YOGURT. It is 90 calories per serving and its yummy. I take a B Complex vitamin and a multi-vitamin. I did not like the way the B 12 shot made me feel. I started out taking 15 mgs the first time on Phen last year and I think that was good because I was upped to 30mg on 07/18/08 and I felt a major difference. So in my opinion its good to start low so you can have somewhere to go once the weight loss slows. GOOD LUCK!!!
