Hi! I'm New with 100lbs to lose and a question

Hi Everyone,

I first wanted to say congratulations to all on their weight losses, you are all very inspirational. I am on day two of Phen. I have alot of weight to lose.
I have read on a couple of posts where doctors only prescribe phen for a few months. How long have you guys been on Phen? When someone has 100 or more pounds to lose like I do, I would think that we would need to be on Phen for a bit longer. Are all doctors stopping prescriptions at 3 months or so?

Hi Txchic welcome to the forums,some doctors go by the old standard for phen when it comes to how long they will prescribe it,when I started my weight loss I had 410 lbs to lose and my doc said I could stay on phen for as long as it takes.

Some docs wont do that,so it depends on your doctor,take care and good luck .

I also have about 100lbs to lose as well and my dr basically said the same thing as Rick's. However, he did mention that he will monitor my progress and adjust my prescription accordingly if something doesn't seem to be working or if I start having adverse effects. Good luck TxChic!! ;-)

Welcome TXCHIC, I have 2 drs that prescribe it, one tells me 3 months and the others says as long as I want. I have noticed my body is getting immune to it after 5 months, but I dont take it everyday. I started with close to 90lbs to lose and Im half way there. So I think i will need it until November, since i tend to take breaks every now and then. GOOD LUCK!

My Dr. told mr 3 months and then he will start to reduce the amount but that I probably would be on it for about a year.

Hey TXCHIC where i tx are you from? I am also from TX north of Dallas. I have been on phen for 9 month I just resently stopped after 9 months. I did it on my own because I felt that my body need a break. I will begin back on it after a month of being off. CONGRDS on you r new journey and good luck!!!!

It seems like weight loss clinics tend to allow you to use it longer, whereas family physicians would more likely stick with the recommended time period. It's all situational though. I think your doctor would probably be more likely to allow you to continue as long as you're still showing progress.
