Default Will doc prescribe at 177 lbs?

    Hi everyone,
The stats on the left are from about 4 years ago, not sure how to change them, but will look it up after I"ve posted this

I am 5'2, 177 pounds and just getting heavier. I have gained about 50 pounds in 18 months, have had blood tests done to see if there is a problem, but nothing.

I really want to ask the doc for a prescription for phentermine, but wondering if he will give me one at this weight. I don't want to gain more just to be allowed a prescription, but I really need something to get me off of this slippery slope.

I would really appreciate any advice you might have for me. I was also considering a weight loss clinic as well.

    Thanks,
    Katherine

If you are considered overweight according to your BMI, it is a good chance the doctor will prescribe phen, unless he/she is simply opposed to it. Your best bet is sure to be a weight loss clinic. Good luck.

From what I've read, it will depend on your BMI. 18.5 - 24.9 is normal, 25 - 29.9 is overweight and above 30 is considered obese. I plugged your stats into a BMI calculator and came up with a BMI of 32.4, so according to the charts, you would be considered obese and should be able to get phen.

Here is a website with a BMI calculator. www.freedieting.com/tools/bmi_calculator.htm
Most likely your doctor will give you a script. Good Luck!
