Default Weight Gain!!
So i was pretty horrifed to weight myself this morning and see that i have gained 3lbs! I have been taking phentermine since last thursday and have kept up with the diet and exercise that saw me lose 16lbs before i started on these pills! why am i gaining??

well i take my phentermine 30 mins before i eat breakfast. For breakfast i measure out a cup of cornflakes with fat free skimmed milk

for lunch i usualy have a turkey sandwich (no cheese) or either a slim fast shake or slim fast bar

then for dinner it is usually grilled chicken / fish or a little pasta.

I drink a bunch of water everyday as well. at least 6 or 7 16.9 floz bottles

My work out plan is as follows

Everyday 30 mins of aerobic kickboxing

mon/thurs upper body weight training
tues/fri lower body weight training

i then take wed sat and sun off from weight training but still do the aerobics....any ideas on what else i can be doing? thanks so much

My first guess would be an increase in muscle mass. Which is a good thing. Muscle weighs more than fat and it also utilizes calories more effectively. Don't be discouraged just yet! Look more at how your clothes are fitting and how you feel than numbers on the scale.

Thanks for the reply. My clothes are fitting better...i wore a shirt the other day i had not been able to wear for a while. I weigh 321lbs though so really want to lose the weight...would you suggest stopping the weight training until my weight drops and just do the aerobics and cardio?

Have you been able to go to the bathroom? Phen causes constipation, so if you have not gone recently, then you could easily see an increase on the scale. It used to happen to me a lot. Even though I no longer take phen, it still happens because I have sluggish bowels.

Lost additonal 9.6 after phen from 4-9-08 to 6-20-08
Below goal & size 8 in most things 6-20-08

actually now you mention it, yes i am having this problem. Is there anything i can take along with the phen to make this go away?

It could be your muscle, I gained 2 inches in my thighs my first month from working out. I also think that from what you listed you aren't eating enough. With your weight and what you are eating, your body could be thinking it's in starvation mode and storing it. Don't do slimfast.....eat veggies and some tuna before you drink a slimfast. giveyour body the fuel to burn the fat.

As for constipation, I can't help you. I'm so constipated I walk funny lol but welcome to the forum and good luck!

My doctor has me on 1200 calories and I started out at 285, but you are a guy, aren't you? There are a few men on here that can tell you better than I can on how many calories to take in. I've copied Hooligan's little diddy he just posted this morning on someone else's post....

NE ways, I took mine at all diferent times during the first week to see what time works the best for me.
My schedule is 4am-Gym
6/7 - Breakfast
8:30 - Protein (New Way liquid)
10 - Phen
12 - Lunch
2 - Snack
3- Protein
5 - Din Din
7:30 - Snack
8 - Protein
9pm - Think about Lovemyboys/Misty/Scatanafas (Rotating Schedule)

My nightime snackaroo is usually a protein bar or popcorn. Fiber and protein fight off the snack demons for me.
Anyways, 10 am does it for me, usually no hunger issues. Now I'm at the point where I question myself and ask if I'm hungry or do I just want to eat. Water has been my savior as far as hunger, too. It's so underated (no so much here, but generally speaking).

If you aren't a guy, my apologies! I have a hard time getting 1200 down with the Phen, but just test it and see what feels good for your body. Don't gorge yourself justto get the calories in. But remember, you are working out alot and burning calories, so you need to have enough there to burn when you workout. If not, it's just going to eat muscle and you don't want that either. I say give yourself a week, try out eating more, and whatever makes you feel good, stick to. When that doesn't work anymore, try something else. I myself am not focusing on lifting weights until I reach 200. The doctor agrees that cardio is more important right now and doesn't want me lifting to bulk up. I'll get smaller then tone up. I hope that makes sense.

that does make sense. my doc told me that lifting weights is a good way to burn fat as well. I think i am going to stop the weights and cocentrate on cardio He also told me to take my phen 30-45 mins before i eat anything so i take it about 30 mins before breakfast but i see many people on here take it after breakfast. what do you do?

I'm different (trust me, wayyyy different) than others here. I work 11 am - 1 am so I take my phen with my food. Alot of people wait a few hours after they eat. I tried that and was knawing on my desk, but if I take it with my food, I'm fine and it holds me over until lunch. My dinner time is at midnight, vice other's dinner at 5-6 pm, so everyone's different.

Like I said, try it with a meal and then try it after a meal. Whichever one works best is what your body likes.

I have used Dieter's tea. You can find it in the tea section of Walmart. It doesn't taste bad & after drinking a 6oz cup, its smooth sailing the next morning.

Just make sure you don't let it steep too long. It could cause stomach cramping. I let mine steep about 2 minutes.
