Hello to all of you! I've been reading the posts for the past couple of days and found them to be very inspirational and hopeful. Almost everyone in my family is obese and though I'm not considered obese (yet), I can see my path is the same one my mother has followed all her life. She is 5'4" of small frame and well over 200 pounds, at my age she was in the same yo-yo pattern I'm in. I am 5'5" of small frame and was only till very recently 170 pounds, but due to a bout with serious stomach flu I lost 9 pounds. I started Phen on July 23 weighing 161 and my first goal is too reach 150, I haven't been there in awhile. As of this morning (July26) I weigh 159, my ultimate goal is to reach 120-125. My doctor said a weight of 105-110 would be healthy for my frame, but I think that's to thin-I like curves.I have been on an fitness program for 7 months, but no matter how hard I worked at it, I always ate too much to ever lose any weight. I'm hoping that this site will help me stick with the program of Phen, eating healthy, working out, and above all, being patient. Good luck to all of you and keep up the amazing progress.

Hey Brandy, we have a lot in common. Obesity runs in my family as well. My weight goes up and down non stop and recently I quit trying to lose it so today I started Phentermine. Right now I am at 150 and like you I am a small frame so I should be a lot less. My doctor told me I should be around 115 and I think that's too small also so I'm hoping to get to around 130! Anyways I'm in need of a buddy big time so if you ever want to talk or need some inspiration, I'm here for ya! -Megan!

110-115 for a 5'5" person is underweight, even for small frame. That would be Hollywood thin. I'm surprised your doctor recommended that.

Welcome B! I had the same problem with working out and not losing any weight. Phen is kind of my last resort. So far, it seems to be working. I've lost 11 lbs and a total of 15".

Just remember that everyone loses weight at different rates so don't get discouraged if you don't lose as much as some people.

Roller_coaster, I agree with you 100%, that is way to thin for me, and I was surprised he said that to me too. Maybe I should get a female doctor who might be more in tune with the difficulties of weight management for women. My doctor has known me since I was a little girl, so he has seen what has happened over the years to not only me, but my family members as well. I think he is worried for my future, I know he has my best interests at heart, but he's delusional if thinks I can get to 110 and actually stay there! To all of you with encouraging words thank you so much, it brightened my morning more than you know. Something interesting I've noticed is the amount of Texans here-you think it could be the amazing Mexican food and southern fried everything that got us here? It's the Mexican food for me for sure. It's just so darn good. I weighed myself this morning and no change, it's because I haven't been working out. I'm still feeling the effects of the flu and I have no energy whatsoever. I will walk for 45 min tonight just to get some movement in. Thanks again to all of you, keep up the good work!

Your comment about your doctor's recommendation for a goal weight reminds me of a doctor (skinny female ) I used to see who very glibly stated "you should lose weight". I had been fat as a kid, battled weight for 20 years, and had overcome a severe 5 year bulimic period ! I found her advice to be absurdly simplistic, as if I hadn't thought of losing weight before until she mentioned it.

Even my current doctor who I like a lot seems to have no comprehension of the complexity of weight problems. He understands the purely technical burn-up-more-than-you-are-taking-in process, but that seems to be about it.

Brandy, if you reach 125 you will be slim I'm sure. I'm 5'4" and I dieted down to 123 once and it was the first time in my adult life I was actually slim. I couldn't maintain that weight though. I am destined to weigh more (and I'm perfectly OK with that !).

I think it's funny that your starting weight is my goal weight. Everyone is different, and discomfort with weight is definitely relative. If you used to be a thin person and then you recently gained a lot of weight, I'm sure you feel just as awful as I would starting out already overweight and gaining even more weight. There's a comfort level which is unique to your own body type and chemistry.

I hope you have success with your diet and I hope you are able to tolerate the Phen well !!
