Why do drs not want to prescribe phen?

I asked my primary care dr about phen the other day and she was like NO WAY! She said she would give me xenical and I just didn't like the sound of the side effects.
I did however find another dr who I have an appt with on weds that will prescribe it.
Why are dr's so hesitant to prescribe phen?

Well, because it is a controlled substance, level IV I think-the same level as valium. The doctor has to write it on the "special presciption pad", the one they save for pain killers and tranquilizers that have a special number on them. It has a potential for abuse and dependency. Also, it can cause dangerous blood pressure for some. Doctors are also scairdy cats and remember the phen/fen scare and get it confused with regular phen. I took Xenical briefly but cheated by eating pizza and had greasy orange leakage. Don't do it!

It could be because of another medication you are taking or your medical history.

Well there are alot reasons why they won't. First of all you can become dependent on Phen. Thats why when you take it you should go a wk or 2 here and there without it. Some won't become of medical history (heart, blood pressure etc..). Or maybe your not very over weight by there standards to give. And some are like my Dr. who flat out told me the only reason why he's giving it is becuz I have PCOS otherwise he wouldn't have. He says the reason being is because to many are using Phen as a way to lose weight without making a life long change. He says he has had PPl who just sat around and did nothing and lost weight. They go off and then 6 months later there back in again asking for the script. He says it's suppose to be for ppl who really need and their willing to make the life long change or the ones who have medical problems and cannot lose & that included genetics. Then some would rather see a person diet and excercise & see the results before scripting.
