I disagree with archery.
While phen does suppress the appetite, the amphetamine part of it raises your thermogenic temperature so you will burn more calories than normal. Your heart will beat a little faster than normal, and therefore you burn more calories than normal. That's why people sweat more and are more thirsty on it. The drug that is in phentermine goes directly to the part of the brain that controls body temperature, sleep patterns and something else I can't remember. (I read that on a drug interaction website).
If your Dr. thinks it's a good idea, I would try it. If you find it doesn't work either, then you can stop taking it. But give it at least a month to start working. Keep doing what you are doing while on it too. Maybe it will help jumpstart things for you.
Good luck.
ps. Try tracking your calories, you may be eating more than you think. Try to aim for 1500-1800 a day, that is a healthy amount to lose weight, without starving yourself. Especially since you work out, you could even go up to 1900-2000 and still be fine. I track my calories at Sparkpeople dot com.
