Anyone taking phentermine an anxiety med.

Anyone taking phentermine an anxiety medication like clonazepan.If you do, can you take them at the same time? Dose the phen work the same? please let me know

I am taking both along with other anxiety meds and the phen is still working fine. I haven't had any problems so far, but my dr. did warn me that the phen can make the anxiety worse because of the stimulant effect. Luckly, it didn't for me, and I've been feeling good. I hope this helps!

Hi I am new to this site, although I have been taking phen for two months now. My weight loss seems to have fizzled out a bit and I have been stuck at same weight for last few weeks. Any tips from anyone how I can kick start teh weight loss again. I'm starting to panic a bit. We are going to a wedding in the bahamas on jan8th and wanted to get to my target of 133 by then. Currently 152.

cvm- Well...I take a LOT! I am not proud of it and I wish I didn't have to, but my anxiety and panic and depression are the worst they've ever been. I am taking:

-75 mcg Synthroid (for my underactive thyroid)
-20 mg Lexapro (for the panic/anxiety)
-150 mg Wellbutrin XL (for depression)
-1 mg Klonopin (the brand name of Clonazepam- also for anxiety and it helps me sleep at night)
-30 mg of Phentermine

I am doing fine, but I'm not very sensitive to stimulants. My mother, however, is very sensitive to stimulants, she can't even have a diet coke past lunch time or it will keep her up all night. She also suffers from panic and was not able to take the Wellbutrin because it has a stimulant effect. I, on the other hand, am taking Wellbutrin and the Phen!! and still fine.

Just shows you how everyone is different...

Try the Phen for a day or two and see how you react to it. If you don't like the feeling then you can stop taking it. Hope this helps and good luck!

oh and to answer your other question- I take the Phen as soon as I wake up, and the other meds maybe an hour or two later. Not sure why exactly, I just don't want to take everything at once.

I too am on on anxiety meds for depression and anxiety. I take effexor. My doc didn't want to prescribe the phen because he said they don't mix but i've read other info that's says they're ok. Has anyone taken phen and effexor before? Was it ok?
I also take mine at different times. My phen in the morning and my effexor at night.
I've heard that going off the phen for a week or two then restarting it gets the weight loss going again...its like your body going on it again for the first time or something. Hope this helps.

When I started Lexapro my GP made me stop taking Phentermine. My psychiatrist said it was okay and my GP was furious that he said that. I asked my pharmasists if they were okay to take together and he said NO. It has worked out well because the Lexapro seems to take away my appetite as well as the Phen did.

Omigawd-we are so alike
-75 synthroid- (ME TOO!!!)
-20 mg Lexapro (ME TOO!!!)
1-3 mg of Klonopin (Me TOO!!! I take atleast one a day, but can take more)
-30 mg of Phentermine (ME TOO!!!)

I also have an ** for Ativan which is also a benzo like Klonopin but it is faster acting with a shorter half-life. It is for when I have a panic attack that needs immediate help! It is not as good as the Klonopin for sleep because it wears off more quickly. For my bipolar disorder I also take a mood stabilizer called Lamictal-right now 125mg a day, but we are gradually increasing to 200mg. I also take Geodon for racing thoughts and anxiety. For my diabetes I take a pill called Actos. What we both have to remember is that we are on meds that ARE KNOWN to cause weight gain in some people, so we have that working against us...when I don't lose as much as others I remind myself that I have all these other chemicals working against me. My meds have helped me a lot with my hypomania, anxiety, racing thoughts and depression. Strangely enough the Phen makes me feel even better most days!

I was on Lexapro and Xanax before phen. I think the Lexapro is what caused most of my 25lb in 2 month gain and craving sweets.

My Dr made me ween off Lexapro before I could start the Phen, or I could get seritonin syndrome. I do still take the xanax before bed and do not need it during the day anymore.

I find the pharmasist the best source of information. They know alot about how these drugs interact with one another.

I'm on 225 mg of Effexor per day. Was on 300 mg. and also taking 30 mg of phen in the am. and 30 mg in the pm extended release. Phen doesn't do a whole lot for me as far as supressing appetite but it helps some and that is better than none. Can't do witout the Effexor though.
