    Unhappy

    I have been on Phentermine for over a week now, and have only seen a 2 pound weight loss. I am not sure why its so slow. I have 40 pounds to lose and I am limited my calories to 1200-1400 per day. I am also drinking water and exercising at least 3X per week. Is there anything else I can do? I really want to lose at least 3 pounds per week.

    Some of this might depend on if you're a female and where you are on your cycle. How much water are you drinking? At least 64 oz., but many of us drink 1/2 our body weight or more. It flushes so much out of your system. Another question I would have is what type of calories are you taking in? Quality counts. Assuming you have no medical reasons (such as a low thyroid or PCOS) for not losing, just keep at it and don't lose your momentum. Maybe throw in another day of exercise if you can, or increase the intensity of the sessions. If you are doing weight bearing exercises, you may be building some muscle and throwing off the loss...but 2 lbs is 2 lbs. Be proud of that and keep up the good work.

    Thanks, yeah I do a lot of weight training and I hate cardio. I try to do 3 days a week with both weights and 1/2 hour of cardio. Sometimes I go on Saturdays for an extra day of cardio. I think next week, I will do all cardio. My body type is thick and muscular so part of me thinks that if I just get rid of all the fat on top, I will be muscular underneath. Then I just have to tone it. Thanks for your reply!

    Rokan, You may want to try exercising more than 3 days a week. I have been on phen for 3 weeks now and I average about 2 to 3 lbs lost each week. However, I drink 120 oz of water a day and exercise (walking for 45 minutes) 6 days per week. I too am on the 1200 calorie diet. You should be proud of any weight loss, 2lbs is a good start!

    down to 230 was 246 for exercise for me the kids they keep me running around in circles hoping for a scholarship from ywca for me and my great supportive family.
    i started phen january 28,2006 so far so good 5 days on phen...eating alot better
    everyone seems to be doing good
    i have a question does phen burn fat?

    Frequent small meals might help, muscle-building will boost the metabolism burning capabilities at rest, but maybe not cause you to lose lbs because muscle weighs more...

    Thanks guys! I will try to get to the gym more. I have noticed this second week that my appetite has come back in a big way. Even though I am filling up on veggies and high protein meals, I feel hungry afterwards. I want to stick between 1200-1400 cals per day but I am having trouble. I allow myself more when I work out, but still. I wasn't this hungry all the time last week and I haven't changed anything. Any similar experiences? My period is NEXT Wednesday so I am not sure if that affects hunger or not.

    thanks for the post i do not use weights i do alot of housework and hoping to get outside tomorrow....i want to loose more would anyone recommend a fat burner?

    I will suggest taking the phen later in the day (but not too late to mess up your sleep) in helping keep you feel full the full time you're awake. Another option is to buy some 5-htp from Walmart or Target (it's a supplement) and take that at night before you go to bed. After a bit, add another pill in the morning so you're taking 100mg a day, split in half. This stuff boosts the effectiveness of phen, and it really really helps in keeping those evening cravings away.

    You can visit ************ for info on how it works. It's similar to the Phen-Prozac combo in the way it operates, but you don't need an ** for 5htp. Oh, and more water. Water, water, water.

    Hi there, it's taken me 6 weeks (almost) to lose 6 pounds! And I have been doing what you are doing. However, I have lost over 13 inches....so, try measuring yourself and keeping track of that too. You WILL see results soon!

    Jeep, I don't have the bottle here at work to check the brand of 5-htp, but it's the kind Target sells. NOT a name brand off hand. Something like Rexall or such? It has a white label. I will look at home. They are 50mg capsules, and I started 1 week taking 50mg at night about 30 min or less before bed, then when I saw there were no bad effects (for me), I added another 50mg in the morning when I take my phen tablet. I had heard rumors of it making people sleepy, so I took it on a day when I could afford that if it happened. It did not happen, however, and I never feel sleepy from it. YOu might have a different result. Maybe because I take it with my phen tablet, the phen counters any sleep issues? It turns to tryptophan in the body, but it is not tryptophan itself. Something about that might make a difference.

    I like it a lot, and going back over my journals it seems when I am taking the 100mg I feel a little better about everything mood-wise. It helps increase serotonin like Prozac does, but without the side-effects. So this makes sense as well.

    I will try to remember to look up the brand when I get home.

    I didn't read the other replies yet so this may be a repeat.

    First of all, 3 pounds a week is unhealthy. You will be losing muscle mass, not fat. If you're willing to put 100% into this you can lose 2 pounds a week. But the best way to speed it up, healthy, is to add weight training. Not heavy weights, just to build some tone and a little muscle. Muscle burns more calories, even when you're not exercising! Do it like 3 times a week. I use the weight machines after my workouts. That's the best time to do it.

    I found that exercising 4-5 times a week works better. Cardio is what burns the fat! If you don't like cardio, find some type of it that you like. It doesn't have to be a boaring machine. Take a jazzercize class or kickboxing. It's fun and exercise! Try a week or two of different routines you have never tried before. Then pick a couple you like best.

    Are you saying, If you weigh 200 lbs you should drink 100 oz?

    i drink 120 - 160 oz of water a day, and when i do i notice a big difference in the weigh i feel and with the weight loss... i also go to the gym 5-6 days a week doing both cardio and toning clases each time ... good luck!

    I'm only 5'2" and I don't lose weight at 1200 to 1400 calories. I also won't lose if I exercise too much. So it is a delicate balance for me to eat enough and not exercise too much. Be sure to drink plenty of water, too.
