I started taking Phen 4 days ago and I have to make myself eat because I have no appetite it is great and no ill side effects except my mouth is so dry I can hardly talk. I have to have something to drink constantly.... Does this ever go away? Other then that I love it I can not believe I do not think about food and do not have cravings in fact when I think I need to eat I have a hard time thinking of anything that sounds good.

Welcome to the world of Phen! Everytime I have taken it I do get the cotton mouth which does not go away. The only thing I can say is to make sure you are drinking LOTS of water.

Happy loosing.

atabrat, I have the same things going on you do. Sugar-free gum has helped me with the dry mouth, but it makes me forget to eat! I can't ever think of anything I want to eat. I used to eat as much chocolate as I could get my hands on, now it has lost its appeal! Even my favorite drink, Diet Dr. Pepper tastes bad now!
I started Phen on Saturday (Oct. 8) and I can't wait until this Saturday for my first weigh-in. I sure hope I see results!
Good luck to everyone! I love the motivation you get from reading the success stories and postings from other members.

NCGingie, Oh yeah we are very much alike as I am a major chocoholic, but taking the Phen - it doesn't even sound good. I basically could care less if I eat or not... I didn't take the pill today to let the dry mouth slow down a little and tonight I started wanting food.... I will definately take it in the morning. Usually sometime in the early evening a bowl of honey bunches of Oats sounds good so I have a bowl with 1% milk and I eat a few grapes here and there... I read something recently in a magazine that said if you don't love it don't eat it. At least cereal has some fiber and vitamins and minerals. Maybe I can get famous and star in commercials for Honey Bunches of Oats like the Subway guy!

I always have dry mouth, but that makes it easier to get all the water I need. I drink about a gallon and a half of water everyday.
I've been on Phen since Sept 18th, and still have it so I don't think it will go away.

I just sip on water throughout the day (since I don't chew gum).

Hi Ladies; There are also Aqua Drops they are in the gum aisle at most store check outs, they come in sugar free and are basically something to keep in your mouth to hydrate....Aqua, you know....sugar free mints work great too...the good thing is we get all of our water in. I actually got the dry mouth first week and don't much anymore, I'm in week 4....I stick to food plan anyway and have lost 23 pounds since 9/6/05! It's great to not have constant cravings

Hey girls! Just to give you a little relief, yes, it does finally go away. Notice I said finally, though? Yup, it finally went away about 5 months into my taking it. So stick it out, you'll eventually get over it.

Well there is one good thing about it and that is that I definately get my water in.... I just try to remember to take a bottle with me when I go somewhere... It is very embarrassing to be in a conversation in a store with a clerk or in an appointment with your doctor who wouldn't prescribe Phen for you and he realizes your mouth is so dry you can hardly talk. That did actually happen to me. I told him the water pill he has me taking caused it I also carry gum and mints now....

The dry mouth has been my only side effect. It was pretty constant at first, but now it comes and goes. It's especially bad if i'm not drinking enough. I keep mints in my purse for when it's bad and I'm in class and can't get to the water right away. Grapes have become my favorite food. I think because there's so much water in them that I crave them and they have a little flavor, too. There was a few days there where I was so water logged I couldn't drink another drop. I stuck with it though, with flavored dasanis and propel waters. It was a lifesaver.
Good luck out there, and I think the dry mouth will ease. Mine isn't nearly that bad anymore.

Welcome to our Phen World...

My tongue sticks to my lips, my lips stick to my tounge, I have very little to no salava, and most importantly, I MUST carry a water bottle EVERYWHERE I go. I drink more water than I have in my entire life and I LOVE IT! I always feel so refreshed and cleansed, I barely drink anything now, but my water. Every now and then I will drink tea, but I actually crave water these days. My doctor is so proud of the great results he is seeing and now calls me his Phen success, most of the time, he says, that he sees patients come in and begin Phen and then end up gaining weight while taking the meds. because they view it as a magic pill and eat a McDonalds and order supersize since they are on weightloss med. Odd???

Best advice, stick with a HIGH AMOUNT OF WATER INTAKE, begin an exercise program as you have made a decision of a lifetime lifestyle change and develop a routine that works with you and for you not something that you can begin and eventually drop off...Exercise is a key goal!

Good Luck and also, don't forget this site, it's an aweome group of male/female supporters that are going through the exact same dilemmas you are up against! They are beautiful, great, supportive, and you develop lifelong friendships when you stick to it!
