All this week I have been drinking little 5.5 oz cans of Campbell's Tomato Juice. I thought they were good because they have 80% vitamin C, 30 calories & 6g of carbs.

I just looked at the back of the can and realized that there is a whopping 520mg of sodium in it!

Geesh! Needless to say I won't being drinking or purchasing any more.

I am sorry! Rule of thumb though: canned soup stay away from.
You can juice your on tomatoes and get all the health benefits I never have time to do it even though i have the juicer. so easier said then done.

Here's a tip:

Buy 1 carton of Swanson's beef or Chicken broth, a bag of frozen mixed veggies, 1 potatoe, and a tomatoe.... put in a pot, season with what you like, and cook... MAKE YOUR OWN SOUP!!PRETTY GOOD TOO!You can even mix up your veggies, put in your favorites... Just someting to think about. BUT just keep in mind, on the days you absolutely don't have time to do this... you can still use the canned soup, just use HEALTHY CHOICE, or maybe some V-8 tomatoe juice, and heat it in the microwave for a minute or two..... WHERE THERE'S A WILL THERE IS A WAY!! HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

Also, just something to think about... I too use to freak out about "sodium" factor in foods...because it is practically IN EVERYTHING. but my doctor is the one who told me... You shouldn't eliminate ALL sodium from your diet... your body needs a certain percentage of salt in it to function properly.... that as long as you do not ADD salt to your foods, and choose relatively healthy options (fresh veggies, soups, limited canned goods etc.)... you should have already eliminated enough sodium from your diet, by simply not adding it to your foods. HOPE THIS HELPS!! KEEP SMILING AND DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF !

I was drinking the tomato juice, not eating the soup. Campbell's has a brand now that sits on the shelf right next to V8. Oh well, I'll just be safe and up my water intake.

Any veggie juice or fruit juice that sits on a shelf it not going to have hardly any nutrients left. Its been pasturized by very very high heat and preservatives added. Try those veggie juices and fruit, that you find it the refrigerated section of most stores. Walmart has them now and so does costco...that would be a good quick alternative. I am pretty sure salt has not been added.
