    Unhappy Shortness of breath???

I have been experiencing shortness of breath since on phen. Is this something I should be worried about? Has anyone else experienced this, and if so does it go away? Thanks!

I've had it as well. Only when working out, taking the stairs, etc, but it's more shortness of breath than normal. It's like, I can't take meaningful breaths, only shallow gaspy ones.

I kind of ignore it though. :/

So I would also like to hear what people have to say.

I had shortness of breath the first couple of weeks. In my case, I feel like it was anxiety - almost bordering on a panic attack but never getting that far. I began taking a half a pill until I got more used to the Phen. Now I'm on a whole without shortness of breath.

You know, I never mentioned it because it did go away, but I had a little shortness of breath (hard to breath) the first couple of weeks when I went to bed, lying flat. It did go away so I'm not sure if it was the Phen or not. Not sure how/when your shortness of breath comes on....

hmm, yeah, it feels like I'm going to have a panic attack and it makes me kind of get nervous and anxious and hyperventilate more. I just try not to focus on my breathing and sit down and calm down.

I started having this a few days ago, it lasted for 2 days. It almost felt like my throat was tired, best way I know to describe it. Almost like if you've been working out for a while and your muscles just get so tired, it felt like that in my neck but it went away. I noticed it happened when I was really cleaning my house and my throat got Very dry. I'm going to ask my SIL about it because she is a Respitory Therapist.

    Default Real talk

I've been on phentermine for months and just started having heart palpitations/shortness-of-breath last week. I just got off the phone called my regular doctor who told me to stop taking it immediately. With my family history, I can't play around. I have a 3-year-old and... well, I don't want to take chances because I'm not the only one affected.

This REALLY ****s because I had only recently started losing a significant amount of weight and finally felt like I was on my way. I don't know what's going to happen for the long term. I thought I was doing the right thing by doing something to lose the weight. I'm already trying to think ahead to being able to maybe take half of my 37.5 per day. *sigh*

Yep, that's what I did. First I tried switchig to Phen-D (Bontril), but that hardly worked. So, I decided to try taking half a 37.5 mg Phen and since the shortness of breath has gone away (same with the insomnia). You should probably ask you dr if they recommend that first since you mentioned a family history. Good luck!

Update: I took half of a 37.5 Phen for about 10 days with no shortness of breath. In the past few days it seemed to not be working as well, so I'm back up to one full size pill. Since, I have not noticed any shortness of breath, so I guess slowly easing in to Phen it the way to go.

I had a really scary experience with the 37.5 yesterday. Before phen, I could go to they gym and do 30 minutes on the elliptical at 8 - 9 mph pretty easily. Yes, I would sweat and be pretty dang tired/out of breath, but I could do it. Yesterday, after taking about 3/4 of the pill (decided to cut it down since the day before I had some chest pains that scared me) I could barely do anything at the gym. I did 20 minutes on the elliptical at no more than 6 mph and I was pouring sweat. I was covered goosebumps, my arms were freezing and my hands were tingling. My heart was absolutely racing (170 bpm - where it usually sits around 145 when I work out) and I was ligitimately scared. I took half a pill today, so we will see how that works. Saved the other half in case I get a rumbly tummy later in the day. Anyone else experience anything like that?
We put our truths together in pieces, but you use nails and I use glue. You mend with staples. I mend with screws. You stitch what I would bandage. Your truth may not look like mine, but that is not what matters. What matters is this: You can look at a scar and see hurt, or you can look at a scar and see healing. Try to understand.

mlw2010 - Please be careful! Sounds like you are having some pretty serious side effects. You probably should start with a small dosage and slowly increase if you start to notice it not working as well. This is just my opinion, and you probably should really stop phen until you're able to see what your doctor thinks.

I had that problem first time on phen and now on the second time, I experienced it slightly a couple days ago. Seems like it's dying down. I had some similar symptoms when I was pg and it ended up being associated with heartburn. So, this last time it occurred I took some previcid and it seemed to help.
