    Default HELP.

So can anyone tell me some of their secrets for losing weight?

How much did each of you lose in the first month?

I don't want to get my hopes up about how much I can lose. I am trying everything I can to obtain my goal.....I just hope it is good enough.

If any of you would be so kind to let me in on what worked for you, I would appreciate that sooo much!!
Rule your mind or it will rule you.

    Hi Michelle

The first month I believe I lost 15lbs...now with that being said please understand that each person is different and may lose more or less. There can be a lot of different factors..starting weight, age, activity level, etc....

Here are some of the things I do....
Drink tons of water....in fact this is pretty much all I drink besides a cup of green tea in the am and an occassional crystal light packet added to the water for something different. I also will have a glass or 2 of wine - maybe once a week or less.

Count calories...I typically eat 1200 cals a day and will usually up them to about 1500 or so on the weekend. This is similar to calorie shifting and so far has kept me from any dead stop plateaus since it keeps my body guessing. I also keep my fat intake to between 25-30g per day. I use sparkpeople.com - this is a free website that you can use to track nutrition info, exercise, water intake, etc.

I eat as much natural food as possible/keep sodium intake to a minimum. I eat fruit and/or veggies with every meal and limit the amount of processed foods like frozen dinners, can soup, etc. These have all kinds of chemicals and usually tons of sodium. I also make sure to include lean protein w/ every meal and only eat good carbs -nothing white, only wheat bread, brown rice, etc.

I exercise at least 5 days a week...find something you enjoy so that you will want to do it regularly. I like to walk so I walk in the am and pm. I also do strength training 2-3 days a week - the more muscle you have the more fat you burn. I started out slow with exercise and continue to work my way up. I began walking 1x a day for 20-30 min. Now I am up to 45min in the am and 45 min in the pm.

I check in to this website at least daily. The people here have been very motivational, supportive and have great tips/advice. I have to give alot of credit to them for keeping me going and accountable on days where I just feel like throwing in the towel!

I hope this info helps....keep in mind tho that this lifestyle change is an ongoing trial and error for everyone. What works for some may not work for others. Wishing you the best of luck

I lost almost 14 pounds my first month (but I did have a plateau for about 9 days 2 weeks in). I didnt do anything extreme. I dont really count calories I just eat the right portions. I am looking to lose 15 a month. I am in no rush to drop the weight only because I dont want it coming back. I pretty much stick to the same foods everyday. Its all things I like so I dont mind (plus it makes grocery shopping easier) Basic meal plan for me is 1/2 cup of eggs beaters (or 2 scrambled eggs) with a turkey sausage, 25 almonds(snack), 1 1/2 cups multigrain cheerios with skim milk and a applesauce(lunch), and I switch between 2 turkey burgers (just the patties) or a small piece of grilled salmon/chicken/steak. and a can of green beans. And if I need something sweet have a fortune cookie with a Jello Sugar Free Mousse. And of course TONS of water...usually about 7-8 bottles a day for me, sometimes more. Just get yourself eating stuff that is healthy stuff you like in the right portions and it should all work out for you fine. Good luck with everything

Well, this is my second go-round because I just gave birth to my son 3 weeks ago....but my first time on phen....as you can see on my stats....
    I did low carb/small portions...I started at 205lbs
    1st month I lost 18lbs
every month there after I lost 10lbs a month until I got to 150bs.

HOWEVER, something you need to take into consideration is that the more you weigh the faster the weight comes off. If you are at 160lbs...then u may not lose 20lbs in the first month....u may only lose 10lbs....
