Default Cost of Phen from a pharmacy? Insurance issues?

I have Kaiser as my insurance provider but my doc refused to prescribe me Phen just because she "doesn't prescribe it to anyone." I went to a weight loss clinic and got a prescription for it and am now wondering what pharmacies are the lowest cost for an "out of network" subscription?

Tricare doesn't cover it either. So I go to a WLC as well. I go to walgreens and get the monthly prescription for 26 dollars a month

I GOT MINE AT CVS, AND THEY GAVE ME GENERIC, AND SAID THAT MY INS NEEDED A PRIOR AUTH TO BE FILLED OUT BY MY DR. SO I WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THEM W/O INS. SO I THOUGHT OK HOW MUCH? I THOUGHT HE WOULD SAY SOMETHING LIKE $100, BUT HE TOLD ME $15. AND THEN TWO DAYS LATER THEY CALLED ME UP AND SAID THAT THEY OWED ME MONEY. I GUESS THE DOC FILLED OUT WHAT THEY NEEDED AND THEY PUT IT THRU INS STILL. SO THEY ONLY COST ME $6. GOOD LUCK.

I found it to be anywhere from 28-36 dollars depending on the pharmacy, but after a few months, my pharmacy started matching costco price and it has only been 13.50 the last 2 months. So I would say that costco is your best bet.

We dont have Costco here but I get mine from a local pharmacy and it is $14.95 for 1 month supply and $19.95 for a 2 month supply. My insurance doesn't cover it either.

I fill my prescriptions at People's pharm. It is $15.00 for a one month supply. (not sure if this is a nation wide chain)
Hi Jessica! Some get prescriptions from their Primary Care Drs..some from their OBGYN..and some (like myself) use a weight loss center. If you can get your Dr to prescribe it and have insurance it will usually cost less than the weight loss centers. I paid $135 for the first visit (they did blood work) and $55 per month after. I pay $15 to have the prescriptions filled at a local pharmacy (per month).

Thanks *sparkle*weight, i was just curious. Back in 2008 i went to a doctor to get on phentermine, i was on it maybe 5 months and it worked great. But then i stopped and found a weight loss clinic a couple months ago but the pills dont seem to be working as good as the one's i got before. I think i only paid around $20 at the dr. office and i pay $110 for a two month supply at the weight loss clinic. I went that route because then i dont get the monthly bill from the dr. office for checkups each month. So i guess it equals out in the end.. Thanks again!!!! Your the first person to actually respond to any of my questions.

    Hey Jessica!
Don't feel bad about people not responding to posts..It happened to me too.
This site is such a wealth of info but, for me, it is really confusing to navigate. Don't give up. There are tons of people here with great info they are willing to share

This site is very difficult to navigate through. I just constantly go to new post to see if anyone has responded or to see what topics i can relate to. I've read some really interseting things on here so far, so hopefully this will motivate me to keep working out and trying to lose this baby weight!!!

Walmart gave me generic and cost me $21.50 for a 30 day supply for the blue ones, with white specs.

I just called and they said for true adipex they charge $74, and some odd change for a 30day supply.

I checked into a Weight Loss center and it is $55. What is going on? The cost is all over the place.

Now I am seeing you guys paying so little for it, I am started to get confused on what the cost should be.

Am I suppose to be asking for a certain kind of pill? GGggrrrrr!

At Costco it was $16. I understand it's only $13 at Sam's, but my nearest Sam's is too far away. BTW, you don't have to be a member to get your prescription filled. My first doctor's visit was $185, but she did an EKG and blood tests. Any follow-up visits will be $100. I got a six week supply. I'm thinking about getting one more round and then finishing up on my own without the meds.
