Okay everyone. I added this link to share with you because although I like feeling good about myself, I want to look as good as I feel and feel as good as I look. This article is a little discouraging but I think it's important.

If you want to keep diluting yourself, don't read the article, but I am glad I did. It gave me more motivation. I was starting to feel like where I am in my weight loss is good and it would be ok to stay here but I know it's not and not. I am on this journey to get to a heathy weight and I know you all are too.

The other day I was able to get into a size 6 and that is when I knew something was wrong. I have lost a lot of weight but with a 30 inch waist I knew I was nowhere near a size 6 in reality, so I did some research. Click the link to read on

thanks for the article....because i am a vintage clothing fan, i'm totally aware of how the sizes have expanded and i mentioned vanity sizing in another post. Like you said...even in my case. A size 14 from the 1970's is probably a size 10 maybe a 12 now. Same with some of these stars talking about they wear a 0 or 2...like when Kim Kardashian said she wears like a 2 or 4. I looked at the TV like "girl...please" with all that *** you draggin'. She is probably a true size 6, which is still small to me....or she might be down to a 4 after that diet supplement that she and her sisters are hawking.

Secondly...some people don't know where exactly their true waist is because a fair amount of jeans are low-rise cuts or hip slung. So, I know some people wearing low-rise jeans on their actual waists.

I'm now relying moreso on my measurements than the clothing sizes because like the article says...the numbers change with the wind. Torrid's 00 is a "size 10/12"...who wouldn't like to be able to say that I wear a 00.

I know that both the pants and blouses are too big for me in Lane Bryant, I can wear some blouses in Ashley Stewart. However based on my measurements I am definitely plus sized...matter of fact, according to the article I'm about a size 18 actually.

good article! but i am the girl who buys a certain pair of jeans so the label can say a smaller size according to that article i should b a us size 6.. i have jeans in my closet ranging from size 1/2-5/6 and they ALL fit me... and some of them are the same brand jeans in different sizes and fit the same way just a different cut so who knows.. i also read somewhere that since medium and size 10 are supposed to be "average" that every few years the clothing manufacturers will adjust their sizes so the medium and the size 10 are the average size, did that make sense? (for example if lets take american eagle for example if they sold more size 12's in that period of time than any other size and more large shirts than any other size then when they do the adjust the 12 is going to become the 10 and the other sizes will go up accordingly and then the large will become a medium and the other sizes will go up accordingly).. don't know how accurate that is just something i read somewhere.. makes sense though.

That's crazy that they just change the sizes to match what the average person wears! That is why our country is getting so big we are all diluting ourselves into thinking we are smaller than we are. I was thinking the other day that when was in HS I couldn't even squeeze myself into a size 8 ever, and now I am wearing clothes that range from a size 12 to an 8 depending on the brand and cut. According to the chart in the article I should be in a 12 so that makes sense to me, and since a lot of my clothes come from the goodwill (don't want to spend $$ when I'm still losing), theyre older clothes and so more likely to be accurate to true sizes. Most of my clothes are 10's and 12's. At the present moment, I am wearing a Juniors size 11 LEI Jeans from Walmart. They fit perfect, not loose and not tight at all!

Oddly enough...i read an article about vanity sizing that said most of the vanity sizing occurs in your mid to higher end designs. Your more economically-priced clothing is actually going to be more true to size. I don't know if you've heard someone complaining about when they shop at those "throw-away" clothing stores...(that's what i call them, because you can only wear the stuff once and if you wash it...its no good) you usually have to buy a larger size because the clothes are cut small.

Now we know...they aren't cut small, we've just been stroked and eventually duped into wearing inaccurate sizes.
