There's homeopthic versions and there is the hcg that is usually injected that people mix with sublingual b12 both of which people claim work. Go to yahoo groups and search for hcg diet in the groups. The group "hcgdieters" is a REALLY good, helpful group of people that do injections, sublingual and the homeopthic hcg.
Thanks! I actually have been researching the oral HCG and they are pretty much saying that all the oral stuff is fake and does not contain HCG in it at all. Oh well, I guess you gotta take the real thing to get the real effects...such is life. I am still trying the 5-htp stuff, I will see how that goes...sigh.
Hi all!I started taking phen on 1/15/10 with a starting weight of 149 lbs. At 4'10" that was the absolute highest non pregnant weight I have ever been at!
. I take 1 and 1/2 37.5 mg everyday along with a 1000 calorie diet and 4-5 time a week B6/B12 shots.
As of last Wednesday my weight loss was at 10 lbs for 1 month. I was kinda discouraged by that, everyone else thought it was fantastic!! lol. I guess I just want that instant gradification haha. I was very excited the first week when I saw I had lost 4 pounds....But it has been slower moving since then.
I am trying so Hard to make all the lifestyle changes needed to make sure that once this weight is off it does NOT return lol. I am now eating more often than I was before, I try to eat 3-4 times a day, compared to the 1-2 times a day I was eating before. I am still trying to figure out a fittness plan I can incorporate....and trying to motivate myself to actually DO it!! I am hoping to be at my goal weight by June.....If not B4![]()
Your starting weight is almost my goal weight of 145 lol! You will make your goal by June! You are right about the lifestyle changes. I just get into "diet mode" and don't think about long term. I am a slow loser too, which I have found many of us that started at 175 and under are. We just have to tweak our days to find what works. I think I am not eating enough either. I need to eat meals and not snack on bagels, grapefruit, and cheerios all day. I need three meals and a snack or two. I am doing great with the water and exercise. I have not weighed myself for about a week cause I am so discouraged
. I go to my doc for my weigh in on March 3rd, but I will be out of medication for 5 days by that point
! She only requires a weight loss of 5lbs though so I should be good.
As far as a fitness plan for you, how about Wii fitness or Fit tv. I do the Fit tv not only cause it's free, but because they are always putting on different programs so I never get bored. If you have a dog you can walk em, or load up the Ipod and walk around the park. I am not a gym chick. I've had two memberships totaling $800
and just couldn't stand it. They were the popular gyms, 24hr and Bally's....MEAT MARKETS and no one weighed over 130lbs! I could NEVER get a treadmill or eliptical so I would just do free weights and bring a jumprope....ummmm, I could do that at home! Thank goodness I was doing a year work visa in Australia where there is neither gym so I got my money back! So I am surely a home gym type of girl. Also, you could check craigslist and get equipment and videos for dirt cheap! Good luck to ya!

Yeah the hcg used sublingually works, as far as I've seen in the hcgdieters group on yahoo because its actual hcg. And even though people say they are losing weight with the homeopathic versions, I can't see myself paying for something that doesn't have hcg in it. If I'm going to limit my self to a very very very short list of foods by following the hcg diet, I'm going to do it the way it was prescribed for the maximum benefit. If a little insulin needle is what illl have to bare to get down to my size 3s again, ill do it!
I know a 3 sounds extra small but I'm barely 5'2" and I have a small frame. So 155 pounds on someone my size makes me look like an oompa loompa. I don't have much space for the extra weight to go so 10lbs can mean 2 sizes for me, which really s*cks! I decided to go out last friday which meant I had to buy a pair of jeans that fit. It was the most depressing shopping trip of my life!! Even though I definetly can't fit in my 3s, the bigger size puts a little booty on me which I've never had! And I'm afraid to admit this but if I can get my tummy flat and my thighs toned, I might be ok with being a larger size cuz I do enjoy my new sexy hips n butt lol.
Oh lilmama11, I know what you mean about shopping. Buying jeans and dresses just ruins my day. I guess that's why I have an obscene amount of shoes. I will always stay in 8 in those.
Just remember, EVERYDAY you are getting closer to your goal! Every pound and inch gets you closer! yeah, curves are surely sexy. Flat tummy and a coke bottle shape is nice....I just want to be one of those really small coke bottles

Lol!! I feel like if I say I'm fine with the bigger size that its like I'm giving up and settling. But if I did settle for the bigger size id have to buy all new clothes which I don't have the time or money to do. And if I say ok this size is ok then I might say the next size up is ok which means I might say the next size is up and so on. So eventually id be like a house lol!

Congratulations Kartersmomma84!! That is great progress! I know how you feel! I got to 145 last Friday and I am still beaming from it. I am still at 145but that's okay... I haven't seen that number in over 6 years, before I had kids. It is fun. Keep it up and way to go!!

I haven't really been taking my phen for like the last week but I've still managed to lose another 2-3lbs. if I can lose 20lbs doing the hcg, I will be on cloud 9 and back to my prebaby weight! well not much to update on right now im staying steady at 144.6 lbs....tom has arrived!!!!! yuck! its early and really heavy! so i hope it stops soon so i can continue my hcg injections. and hopfully it doesnt make me start again : ( but i am still hopful,still eating the 500 cal diet during tom as to protocol. sounds like everyone is doing good! good luck to you that are going to start!
btw!! it feels great to see the weight come off! i can wear jeans that have been in my closet for years! they where just waiting to be worn, lol those clothes i bought too small, always saying i was going to fit into them!!! lol still hoping for at least another 5-10 lbs. i feel some much more confident already cant imagine another 10 lbs! oh and did i tell you guys i am getting new boobies once i get to goal weight, mine are almost gone now : ( lol

Me too! This Phen is not working well! A whole month and only 10lbs. I think an hour is not a long enough work out. I drink soooo much water too. I just feel bloated and sore. Weigh in with doctor in 2 more days. Hope she will give me the 30mg cause her prescription of half of a 37.5mg is NOT helping me AT ALL!

Okay ladies... drum roll please... I weighed this morning... 143!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo happy! I cannot believe I am so close to the 130s. I don't even remember the last time I saw them... maybe college? That was 10 years ago.
SWEETJAS- I only lost 10 lbs this month too. And this was my first month back on after being off for 4 months. I don't know why my progress is so slow but I'm okay with it. I do think you would love to have the whole 37.5. I just don't understand why your dr. won't work with you more on this. Doesn't she understand that seeing that scale move gives you motivation? That's frustrating.

When I went to get mine, I weighed in at 169 lbs. and that was with my shoes on (yes she weighed me with my shoes on).Almost didn't make it because I am 5'6", which is why I think she weighed me with shoes. I did get them and started on 37.5 (half a pill twice a day) Saturday Feb. 27. I know it has only been three days but I am not sure that I have lost any weight? I have no appetite and have eaten very little (I need to work on eating more). I would love to get down to around 135 pounds on this, I have 2 month supply so hopefully I can get the 30 pounds off by the end of April- Good Luck to All of You!!
I took phen when I was 210 lbs and lost 40 lbs in no time, and felt great doing it. I just started again and I weigh 175 lbs. I took 1/2 the 1st morning, felt nothing, so have been taking a whole one in the morning the last few days, and still feel nothing![]()
WEATHERGRL- i think the 500 cal is actually getting easier! the lack of food choices is hard, but you start to get creative! but i will never tell anyone this diet is easy! cause it isnt, but it is nice to see fast results. the hard part will be to maintain it : ) im looking forward to keeping a healthy outlook on eating and really looking forward to working out! making it part of my life, not just a reason to lose weight!

I started at 167 (dr. Scale) on Oct 22, 2009.
At my February 25th appointment I weighed in at 145 so down 22 lbs
Sure it's taken four months, but I had Thanksgiving, my birthday, Christmas, NYE, and V-day in there! Not too bad.
I had a plateau around 10 weeks of being on, where I only lost 2 lbs in 40 days.
Drink 8 glasses of water a day. I PROMISE that is what helped me! I hate drinking water but after I drank 80 oz of water a few days in a row, I felt more energized, my skin looked great and I lost 4 or 5 lbs in one week. At my work, the other two leasing agents take phen also and we have "water breaks" where we fill up our cups and drink 2 cups of water. A power drink. Like at a bar, but with water![]()
I go to a weightloss clinic every 40 days. He weighs you, takes temp, BP, and measurements (tape and scale) and tracks them for you. He talks to you about your eating habits then gives a script for 40 pills. Office visit is $45 and my pills are about $35 for 40 at walmart.
I joined a 24 hour gym with my boyfriend and we go about 3 times a week. I do the treadmill for 45 minutes-1hour while I watch the TV there. I run during commercials at 5.5 mph and walk during the segment portions at 4.3 mph. I've seen a lot of difference. I also use my Wii Fit and "Just Dance" game. Since I bought the Just dance game I've lost 4 lbs. I can do 2 hours of that and the time FLIES by.
For diet I eat within moderation of what I want, but stick to 1175-1250 strictly a day.

So I went to my weigh in and I was only down 8lbs according to their scale, however at home I was down 12. I can't adjust my scale since it's digital. She said that since my appointment was late in the day I could have been retaining water plus I had my clothes on. She said "Let's call it 12. You did fantastic"! She said "that's a little more weight then I wanted you to lose. Still fantastic though. Good job". She is sweet, don't get me wrong.
She said she wants me to keep my weight loss at around 6-8lbs a month and if I loss more than that it would make her worry![]()

!!! She still wants me to lose 35lbs! At only 6-8lbs a month it would take me nearly 6 months!
She wants me to start pilates because of my back problems which is good news!
She kept me at the half of a 37.5mg once a day. She said that taking the 5-HTP is fine.
Verdict....She basically prescribed me pilates. Sigh.......
She is not a mean doctor and she is really happy for my weight loss. I just don't think she gets it NO MATTER WHAT I SAY. She's a great doctor, but she is rail thin...I mean like 5'8" and 120lbs, she'll never get it. Oh well, since I have to wait a week for my phen to get in (they have to special order it, which is strange to me because Kaiser is a huge hospital) then maybe it will kick in better. Hey, just happy I lost!
SWEETJAS - Congratulations on the weight loss!! I know you'd hoped for more but 12 is awesome! It's better than nothing and 12 lbs closer to where you want to be!
Ugh... thanks for the pilates doc. I TOTALLY understand what you're saying about her being rail thin and not getting it. I have a friend (a great, great friend) who just doesn't get it. She tries to get it, she really does, but she just doesn't and never will. She is a bean pole and always has been. She says she was "really overweight" in college but I've seen pictures... she was maybe 150 and she's more like 115-120 now. AND she is 5'7". So 150 still looked great. She is constantly giving me weight loss tips. Just eat this much, exercise this much, and take care of yourself... what's the big deal? It is a B I G deal for those of us who have to work 3 times harder than people like her to lose a few lbs. For whatever reason, my body doesn't allow me to just drop weight. Naturally thin people just don't understand how it feels and it affects your life to be overweight.
I went to a doctor a year ago who wasn't necessarily thin but definitely didn't see the importance of me losing weight. While she agreed I was "slightly" overweight, she told me to cut my carbs and watch my portions. Yeah.... easier said than done lady!! She then went on to tell me she has trouble losing weight too and she will spend hours in the gym just to get on the scale at the end of the week and see she'd gained a pound. Yeah... that stinks, it's demotivating and it's a real self esteem killer. As she told me that, I thought, get on Phentermine doc! We'll do it together, haha! She just thought putting on weight as you got older was normal. Well, I wasn't standing for that and didn't understand why she did!
So anyway, I know your doc probably is a great doctor who genuinely cares, but doesn't understand all of the emotional aspects of your weightloss. But like I said, 12 lbs is awesome and just try to stay with it!! I've only lost 10 lbs this month and it is s l o w moving for me. But... it's better than what I was doing before! Have a great day!

I had my monthly weigh in yesterday and I had lost 10 pounds since starting Phen. I would love it to have been 20 but I knew for me....10 pounds was quite the accomplishment and it did not come easy.
Like you weathergirl, I am such a slow..slow loser but that's okay. It's not like I woke up and just couldn't lose weight. It's been like this my entire life and as I have gotten older (ugh), it has definitely gotten much worse. Even just 3 years ago, I lost weight faster...so....I am really working desperately hard to get this off for good!
Some people do not realize how hard those of us with slower metabolisms have to work. My mother keeps telling me to just eat a piece of toast with peanut butter and a cup of coffee and that should do it. She's like 70 and doesn't do anything all day but sit, so she has no appetite. I have 3 kids and a busy life. I would pass out on that, but she doesn't get it and I forgive her (ha, ha).
I'm so thankful for this website. I have found that I am not the only one who loses slower despite doing everything possible and working as hard as I can. It's nice to read everyone's posts because they truly give me reason to get back in the gym and fight the urge to eat badly when I think I cannot go another day without pizza or soda.

So this is my first week on Phen (started 2/27). I started taking 1/2 a 37 mg pill a day for the first 5 days, and then I took the full 37 mg the last two days. I am also taking a B12/MIC shot twice a week. I noticed that I felt like the energizer bunny at first, but that has calmed down a bit. My mouth is as dry as the Sahara desert, but that has helped me drink tons of water. When I weighed in this morning - I had lost 7.5 pounds! I was so excited because last year I dieted with good nutrition exercise and it took me 2 months at least to go down that much! Granted, when I weighed in at the doc I had clothes on/just eaten....and this a.m. I was in my birthday suit and it was in the morning (when I typically weigh the least), but I will take it.
I am trying to keep my calories at 1,000 a day, which is kind of low, but the weight loss doc said that was fine. I am a vegetarian, so I am doing protein shakes and protein bars with lots of fruits and veggies for my diet.
I have worked out 4 times this week (ellipitcal) and I think it helps me sleep with the phen. I have noticed I am working out a lot harder and longer when I go, too.
