    Cool February 2010 starters

    Any takers???

    My MD appointment is this weekend and I've got over 100lbs to lose *FOR REAL* this time! I'll be starting the 37.5mg Phentermine, along with a diet and ex plan.. (thanks to the gym here at home!)

    Plan: -3lbs per week starting 2/1/10 to meet my 1st mini-goal:
    -60lbs by July 1, 2010 - for my birthday weekend in Vegas!

    I start phen tmm! Just got the script today along with weekly b12 shots. So excited! I want to lose 50lbs by memorial day weekend!! We can do it!!

    70lbs is kinda close to mine. I know it's def possible. I'm trying to lose 90 lbs. I started this past weekend for the last time. I was having issues before (got preggo, etc) but I'm back now!

    I tend to lose about 18-20lbs per month so I'm hoping that I at least look decent for the summer!

    I had my weigh in and I'm sittin at the magic number of 289lbs. I'm around 5ft7, and I'm hoping to get down to at least 199. One-derland here I come bebe!

    How was everyone's first day?

    *ms amber alicia - OMG 18 to 20 a month! you have got to put me on! lol i definately believe we can lose this weight wether its 70 or 90. do you have a certain time frame? i want to be about 180/190 by my bday (4-30) or the middle of may. as long as im out the 2's and in the 1s ill take it lol. but by the end of 2010 i definately want to be tipping the scales at a lovely 150!


    *to everyone else on board - are any of you weight training or anything while your losing weight? i was told not to until i lose a good amount of weight because ill start building muscle instead of losing weight. is this true? i just dnt want that "after fat" look, you knw the flabby skin, flapping arms etc

    Taurus, I am 214 5'7 and am doing weights at the gym. I useto do workouts when I was a swimmer in highschool so I kind of know what I'm doing. I'm not doing at the same intensity, but I would definitely do weights.The key is to do a lighter weight, more reps. Like instead of straining yourself to do 8, do a lighter weight that's comfortable for you 12-15 reps, rest for 20-30seconds then do 1 or 2 more sets. If you're unsure about what weights to do, sign up for a training session and explain to them what you what to accomplish and they will show you the right way to do weights and what machines to do.
    Doing more reps at a lighter weight will tone more than add muscle so you won't get flabby skin like you were saying.
    I also was told before you lift weights do the eliptical or treadmill for 10-15 minutes to get your heart rate up so that when you're doing weights you are burning more calories.

    Hi, I started takin phen along with diet and exercising a week ago today. I went to the dr yesterday and lost 4.5lbs, 3.5lbs of fat! I know its not as much as some people but for me its a lot and the fact that it was mostly fat is great.

    Just like itaurus, id like to have my weight off by my birthday, april 27th. I don't expect to have the whole 40 off by then since I don't NEED to lose a lot of weight so I don't think I'm going to lose 4lbs every week. So ill settle for 20lbs or so by then.

    Taurs - we CAN do it! I know what you mean I can not wait till my weight is in the 1's lol. I too am worried about the flabby skin... if I will have it and what to do to prevent it. Does anyone have before and after pictures after losing 70-90 pounds??

    Itaurus - I have heard both. My doctor suggests just cardio, but then I have read it's really good to do strength training for thirtyish minutes every other day (don't wanna do it EVERY day - made that horrible, horrible mistake once and was in pain for like, a week). I mean, you'll be building more muscle which burns more calories. When I was doing it at curves I didn't lose anything but stayed the same and was eating whatever I wanted (no diet, no phen). I did, however, lose a bunch of inches in just a month. Nothing rediculously noticeable, but my pants fit better!

    @ iTaurus - the 18-20lbs /month seems to only last about 2 months. Then it slows down for me ;[ I've seriously been toying with the same 50-60lbs for the last few years. I'm hoping I get out of the 200s by the holidays. That's just over 90lbs in about 10 months. So if I can't stick to 10lbs a month; there must be something wrong.

    No weight training yet; Right now it's phen and walking for now. I def would like to get to weight training this spring though. My bff lost a ton of weight and never lifted; and she had a ton of extra skin left over.


    How often is everyone weighing in?

    I try to do it once a week, sometimes less. I like the big numbers better than the little ones *lolz*

    Hi there. Iv restarted on the 30mg Phen yesterday (was started on the 15mg in Oct but quit) I lost 14lb in just under 3 weeks on the 15mg so got high hopes for the new ones, LoL.
    Im 5f 6" and (Im workin this out at our size 4 is Americas size 0 and if u's go up in two's like ours.....) Im an American size 10/12 bottoms and 12/14 top. Thats English size 16/18 bottom and 18/20 top.
    At the moment I weigh in at 217lb/15st 7lb and my goal for now is just to lose the 1 stone/14lb to get to 203lb/14st 7lb and then I'll work to get to 14 stone/196lb. Iv learnt its much better to do it in bits like this.

    I have a 20 month old boy and my pre baby weight was 12st 10lb/178lb. I put on 4st/56lb during the pregnancy (He was born 10lb too, LoL).

    I found also found out that just b4 Xmas that my ex partener of 8 YEARS!, had had a affair so split with him now. Hence y the 1st try on Phen went to pot, LoL (dont feel sorry though. Its more good riddance really, LoL)

    So it is very very much a new year, new start and very very much a new me. After whats happend Im couldnt be any more determined to get back down if I tried, LoL

    I started phentermine 37.5mg about 2 weeks ago and was doing great first week lost 9pounds and now 2weeks goes by and nothing so if anyone knows anything tips or trick please share i do exercise about 3 times a week doing cardioid for an hour...what else can i do??

    As I wrote in post just now I lost just under 14lb in 3weeks just on the Phen 15mg. So got high hopes for the 30mg Iv just started.

    @malexis - do you mind if i ask what kind of food you are eating?

    @redrose - 10lbs by the 19th I would assume would be do-able. But you would have to stick to a strict diet + ex. - just to make sure. I'm just guessing though, since everyone is different. (judging from my own past, as well as everyone else's results..it seems likely)

    Thanks guys! how is everyone doing with exercise? i feel that i have to keep doing low impact so i can keep my blood pressure within my range. Are any of you doing high cardio such as kickboxing or running?

    It looks like I am eating just the wrong food from what I have been able to find out on my own...Im not really on a diet I am just watching how much I am eating like this am I had some eggs with toast (wheat) and then for I had dinner I had 2piece of chicken with some potoats...but then i did my work out program for carodo for about an hour...am I doning this all wrong??

    *amber alicia - ok i see. well thats still amazing to lose that much in a short time. good luck to you with that. we'll be seeing you out of the 2's in NO TIME. as for me, i only weigh in every two weeks (pay days lol) so im dying for 2mrw to get here. ive been thinking about not getting a new prescript for phen this month. i think ill just get the shot for all of feb every other week just to see if i can lose on my own. ive come to the conclusion that its a mind thing. yes the phen helps, but id like to try for myself on my own. i dnt use the phen on the weekends any more and i barely took it these last two weeks. about 5times total in 14days and i think i did ok besides saturday and sunday when i had that snickers! GRRRRR but yeah we'll see how it goes

    *redrose - i lost 11lbs in 2weeks, its very possible. it wasnt easy the 1st 3days but i adapted well. if you have a diet to follow that a dr gave you stick to it! thats all i can realy say. its been working for me. good luck

    @ Itaurs I didnt get a plan for diet do u think i should be fine if i buy foods such as Lean Cuisine or other pre-packaged foods?? i have lost over 15 pounds but it has been since September 09 which was mostly just trying to exercise and getting on phen. I feel like i have so much energy and i try to take it for a week at most and stop i dont know if my body would need to adapt. ...

    taurus- I think that weight would be good, it'll tone and build resistance while you're walking.. but I can't use weights when I do the treadmill or eliptical, I walk so fast on there I need to hold on so I don't lose my balance or fall off. haha. But I'd ask someone who knows more about it, I mostly do machines.. so I know much more about them than free weights.
    I definitely don't do weights everyday though, like someone else said, you need time to let your muscles rest. And I think you said you wanted to lose weight then tone in a response to someone else, just make sure that you don't wait too long, you can't tone hanging skin.

    much luck to everyone... I haven't weighed in a few days, so I'm hoping to be down 2 or 3lbs. =)

    If you reeeally want to lose weight fast - you're going to have to cut out the potatoes and the bread. (esp the potatoes) Portion control works of course. But if you are trying to get the weight off quickly, you have to cut out carbs and high starch.

    I find that since I treat food like an addiction, I have to 'ween myself off'. So I slowly have been cutting out the carbs in every meal.

    Breakfast -
    > Used to be 2 eggs and 2 pieces of toast, 8oz glass of milk or juice.
    > Now it's no toast, no milk/juice, 2 eggs, 16oz glass of water


    Lunch -
    > Used to be a super burrito or super nacho w/ carne asada (meat, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, rice, beans, chips or flour tortilla)
    > Now it's a taco salad (all the same ingredients) minus the flour tortilla, beans, and rice.


    Dinner -
    > Used to be whatever i wanted, my most fattiest meal of the day.
    > Now I use most of my plate for salad (dressing + lettuce + veggies, no croutons), and any meat (usually chicken breast) No bread, no pasta, no rice, no potatoes, no starch whatsoever.



    This is just my plan. I do it because it has always worked. It's my bad that I fall off track. My routine is that I drop 30-60lbs; get comfortable... and start eating bad again.

    I work in healthcare and this past year I've actually had to work inside of a trauma hospital... It's changed the way I look at life, and my future as a mother. So I've got to stick to it this time!

    I just started 37.5 mg on Feb 2nd and I weighed in at a whopping 242 pounds I was on Phen last year for about 2 1/2 months and lost 18 lbs, but gained it ALL back, plus 2 more lbs..sooo, here I am again! I was very happy with the weight loss progress the first time around, and that was without exercising. I did watch what I ate, to a point, but then again, it's not that hard to do with the Phen because I just wasn't hungry. I didn't really have any side effects last time, with the exception of being restless at night for the first few nights; however, this time, I'm SO irritable!!! And emotional, too! I don't know what's going on! It's only been 2 days on it, but my God, I'm snappy, can cry at the drop of a dime, and I just feel *****y! lol There's really no other way to put it! I'm hoping this doesn't last because I've already had co-workers ask me if I was on my period or something. haha

    This time around, I know where I went wrong last time with Phen...I was completely relying on the pill to work it's magic by not exercising or practice healthy eating. Before starting Phen again, I started to eat healthier and also got a gym membership, this way, I was already started the transition into a healtheir lifestyle and using the pill as a booster. I'm going to the gym 5 times a week for at least an hour...I rotate between cycling (my fav!), a body design class that works your whole body, and zumba. Some days, I will do 2 classes...just depends on the gym schedule. I'm also trying to eat small, 5 times a day.

    Now, I've read that if your body doesn't get enough calories, then it goes into "famine mode." My doctor recommended a 1200 calorie diet and I'm doing my best to keep that up, but I'm worried that since I'm exercising so much, my metabolism will somehow turn on me?! I just don't want to be a little under the 1200 calories and then I exercise and my metabolism comes crashing down and starts to work against me. Maybe I'm thinking about it the wrong way...I meant to ask my doctor when she gave me the prescription, but I completely forgot!

    So here I am. I'm exhausted and getting ready to call it a night, but I wanted to get myself in on this thread before I turn in.

    Basically, I'm trying to get from 275 to 140 (125 would be my ideal, but I'm trying to be realistic). I'm hoping I'll get my prescription for Phen on February 11th, but this week I'm taking some that my mother gave me, just to make sure I like it before I go get the script.

    Anyway, I've never ever lost weight. I've gained a ton of it, but it's been so slow and gradual that I've just learned to work around it. Like the people on that show "Hoarders." I hoard my weight. I gain a little at a time and it just stays right where it is.

    My eating is entirely emotional. From boredom to celebration, I mark nearly every mental event by eating. So this is a pretty major lifestyle for me. I also grew up on a farm, where it was obscenely huge comfort food meals every day and night, so I'm trying to learn how to eat better and do it less.

    I'm using the website sparkpeople.com to track my calories and exercise (should I decided to actually, you know, do some). They've also got a great group of forums and teams to join so I think it's going to be a lot of help.

    I'm just really overwhelmed at everything I have to accomplish and I don't do well with small achievements, so it's going to be maddening only losing (in the best case scenario) an average of ten pounds per month. I'm just trying to take it a day at a time and not deprive myself of the things that I love while still maintaining the amount of self-control I've never been able to muster before.

    I wish all of us the very best of conditions and luck, if you believe in it. I haven't been under two hundred in ten years. I can't even imagine what it must feel like...

    i agree with lilmama they do have loads of sodium in them, which will hold on to weight. dnt get me wrong 1 or2 every now nd then wont hurt but i would suggest you stir clear from pre-packed meals. if u can buy fresh things that would be your best bet.

    alright thanks. i too walk fast sometimes and id probably slip and fall so ill still pick the weights up and just use them while im sitting at work (when no1s here) or maybe at home in front of the tv or sumthing

    Default update - not the best but ill take it!

    so yesturday i went to the doc for my weigh in because the dmv area is going to get blasted with snow today (friday) and all tho i didnt hit my goal i did lose 5lbs which puts me at an even 220. at this rate it looks like i can lose about 2.5lbs a week (10 a month) if so i should be about 190 which is close to where i wanted to be anyway. i was hoping for 9lbs but anything 5 and above ill gladly take lol

    I just started Phentermine on Monday 2/1 and can already tell a big difference in my appetite! I'm so glad to have started this. Everyone is an inspiration! Good luck to us all

    I have a question though... I'm getting married in September & I'm looking for a wedding dress. Should I wait a couple of months to see how much weight I'm losing? I've already lost like 7 lbs. but I know much of that is probably water weight. How much should I expect to lose monthly?

    Our goal weight is the same & currently we're around the same weight too Good luck! Do you have any mini-goals set? When do you want to reach 150? I'm hoping to be at least be at (or BELOW) 200 by the end of Feb. Is that realistic I wonder? And I'd love to be down to 180 by April. I hope I can do it!

    Congrats on your wedding I've actually been lucky enough to be a part of two weddings this past year. Both of the brides were plus size girls - so the dress was a big deal. (for those that have gotten married while plus sized - you know how frumpy some of those dresses can be!) It's definitely a challenge. BUT!

    A good word of advice is to wait. You're most likely going to have to tailor your dress a few days before the wedding anyway; but a drastic change (more than just a few inches) can make the dress look funny and/or lose its shape.

    Also 8 months is a really long time from now (losing weight wise) who knows what you may look like then. You just might toss that dress all together, and go for something totally different to compliment the new look.

    The dress is probably one of (if not 'the') most exciting part of planning a wedding. So waiting is probably the last thing that you want to do. Here's a suggestion... How about choosing a dress in a smaller size? Like I said.. dresses can be tailored. My bff did that, and she hung it in her closet. It was her motivation every day as she got ready for work. She was a size 22 when she started, and she got a size 15 dress. At the end (7 months later) they ended up taking it down to a 12!

    Plan: -3lbs per week starting 2/1/10 to meet my 1st mini-goal:
    -60lbs by July 1, 2010 - for my birthday weekend in Vegas!

    Hey there! Good too see that you made it over! ;D You and I are around the same weight/goal. It's great to hear your story. I can def relate to the 'counrty food' aspect. I just moved about 100mi from home to the metro area. Before I was in a pretty county/farm town. (lots of chickens and cows) I go back to visit at least once a week, and every time my mom has some huge meal (chicken and dumplings, potatoes and gravy, etc). We're part Italian so so refusing to eat a home cooked meal by mom is like pure blasphemy.

    So I eat dinner before I head up there, and when it's time to eat, I can barely touch the plate. (hey at least I'm not refusing right?) It helps with the temptation, and no one's feelings get hurt.

    ok so congrats to everyone one is losing weight and seeing a difference....I now have a question for everyone so i started phentermine 37.5mg once a day on Jan 26,2010 so its been 11 days and i have lost around 10 pounds and have stop losing anything the past couple of days which is sadbut I have gotten some great advice and I am still going and pushing but its getting frustrated to see the scale stop so soon.my question is is anyone taking the 37.5mg twice a day? should I ask my doctor if he could raise my daily intake? would that help in anyway?? I am really trying to lose around 40 to 50 pounds by July for my birthday thats only 5moths away and i will be turning the big 3-0 is that passable to archive in such a time frame??
