    Default Dr Oz tip of the day...

    Hey I wanted to share this with you all!

    Today on the Dr. Oz Show (I am such a nerd for this show now... lol) they had a couple on that lost over 100lbs together. When asked about their secrets to making the diet stick - the husband pointed out the COOLEST idea.

    When your clothes start to look loose, or sort of junky - as a result of losing weight... THROW THEM AWAY!

    This is because one of the first things that gets us all motivated to watch what we eat; is the fact that our clothes get tight. So by keeping your 'fat clothes' around - the transition back to being 'fatter' is easy. You just dig out your old clothes. So I did this today. I went into my closet and cleaned out the jeans that I have, and some dumpy shirts.

    I can't believe that I never though of this before. I hope it helps!

    Plan: -3lbs per week starting 2/1/10 to meet my 1st mini-goal:
    -60lbs by July 1, 2010 - for my birthday weekend in Vegas!

    It has been sooo nice out and I just have to brag because Im so proud of myself.... I have been making such great choices in food that yes im eating well, but after dont feel the guilt.. When my husband got a huge buritto at lunch the other day, I got the most delicious salad with grilled zuchinni and chicken! He kept saying you lost weight, you deserve to get what you want.. And i thought to myself and replied, "Yes I do deserve a nice healthy meal so that i can finally feel good about myself and not guilty".. he was like wow i never thought of it that way. We always used food as the common ground, now it is exercise and day trips. Usually on a day off we would get a huge fatty meal, rent a movie and fall asleep..Last week we went to lunch,( Where I got the salad) took a long stroll downtown, then went home and went for a long brisk walk... It was amazing! I feel like im slowly learning how to get my life back.. there has been years of bad behavior and food being associated with love. Food is for nutrition not to fill a void or reward.. for a reward now, we are saving money from not eathing out so Im going to the spa.. Why BEcause I Deserve that.. I dont deserve to stuff my face with fatty food so I can cry later!!! we can do this ladies!!!!

    Amber - That is a really good idea. Thanks for sharing. I can totally understand that it can be easier to go back into the old lifestyle if the "fat clothes" are at an arms reach. Hmmm. My closet and dresser drawers are filled with clothes that are too big, too small or just right. I really ought to take the time out and go through them. I used to volunteer at this food bank/homeless shelter and I was actually thinking of donating my clothes to them. Some of them have only been worn once or twice and I think that might make me feel much better.

    Angie! Nice to read that you are doing splendidly!! I'm so happy and proud of you! YAY!!! I totally understand how you feel when you are eating out. I was on vacation this past week and a half and I never thought I would be as conscious about what I was putting in my mouth. I couldn't exercise or drink as much water but I was not overeating just for the sake of it. =) Keep up the good work!! I can't wait till we are all at goal!!

    Hi ya ladies.

    Amber, I always chuck me too big clothes out. But sayin that I do have a pair of purple Khaki pants on at the moment that are a size too big but they are ultra comfy, LoL. And I supose they r suposed to look baggy, LoL.

    BUT.........
    I can never get myself to throw the too small clothes out. I have a wardrobe n cubbards full of tops 1 or 2 sizes to small and I even have some U.S size 4/6 from wen I was a teen and young 20's put away, Id just about be able to get 1 thigh around now LoL.

    Angie Good to hear things are pickin up for you now hun.

    It was my weigh in day and I was shocked to see that Id lost 6lb last week. Well my Wii sed I was 193lb from 200lb and the scales in the Chemist Shop said I was down to 194lb. So Iv gone with the heavier weight just to be on the safe side.

    Iv now gone from bein 14 stone sumthings in to the 13st's. Which was my 2nd mini goal soughted. (First bein to get from 15st 7lb to 14st 7lb)

    Hey ladies Im glad everybody is doing ok! I weighed this morning and I am down 22 lbs! I had a couple setbacks but im doing pretty good. Keep up the good work ladies...talk to everybody soon!

    Great job everyone! It seems like we are are making great strides to where we want to be. I also weighed myslf today and am down a few more pounds.

    I love the idea about getting rid of old fat clothes. I am at the point where I have to roll over my waist of my pants. A belt is no longer working. I said to my husband I think I need to get a few new pair of pants for work. I am a career counselor and have to dress up every day. We all know how expensive dress clothes are. I got rid of my "skinny clothes" about 8 years ago so I have nothing between them anymore. I am stuck getting some new pants but dont want to spend a lot of money since I hope can keep shedding the weight.

    On another good note, I went into my family doc who gives me the phen yesterday for a checkup. When he walked in the door he looked at me and said, "I can tell you have lost weight!" He was almost as excited as I have been. That was a great feeling. He said he wants me to continue with the 15 mg because he thinks my almost 15 lbs loss is a lot for one month. He said that it will take longer than I want it to. I didnt gain it overnight and will not get rid of it overnight. I guess I wont argue with him since I had to convice him to prescribe it to me. I drove 100 miles also (the first time in November) for 2 weeks to a clinic that I didnt think was very safe. Then my regular doc did put me on it. Have a great weekend everyone!

    Husbands/ boyfriends are so funny. My husband will do the same thing. That I have worked so hard so just enjoy this one meal. He says I have a diabolical plan to keep him fat. I laugh, and tell him he is just not as ready as I am. Seeing as he only needs to get rid of about 20 lbs.

    Hay ladies. Hope everyone is well and keepin on track.

    Iv decided to take the wkend off from Phen. As Payday is Tuesday Iv not got no munchies or "extras" in anyways, LoL. So even if I wanted to snack I couldnt, LoL. So thought I might as well make the most of it and take the break now and it seemed pointless and a kind of waist takin them. So back on it 2mrw of Tuesday.

    Malexis the only excersize I really do is constant borin house work, LoL. Walks over the park with the Dog in the Mornings and 2 or 3 nights a week I go on the free step on the Wii Fit (so I can still watch the telly, LoL) for like 40 minutes on fast. I must adit tho I have gota get in to doin more Gym type excersizing tho and Id lose faster.

    Hi Everyone!
    Hope everyone is doing well. I don't know what is going on with me!! I think I'm getting sick and I have been SOOO lazy. At my last weigh in, I weighed 210. I was happy with that seeing as I had just come back from my vacation the day before the doctor's appointment. I took the diuretic pill the day after the doctor's appointment and I weighed myself on Friday morning and my scale said 206 but I feel so freaking bloated. I haven't been drinking water at all. Well, I've been drinking water but not nearly as much as I should. I didn't work out this weekend because I am so stuffed up and am having bad headaches. Last night I ate like I hadn't eaten in days!! I didn't take my phen this weekend because I have to take some sudafed stuff. OIIII I'm so tired. I don't want to give up and gain weight but I don't really have the energy to work out. Any ideas or suggestions?

    Malexis4, I do the same thing everyday. I have a Turbo Jam DVD that is 45 minutes long and I ride the elliptical for 30 minutes. I started my weight loss journey on January 4, 2010 but didn't start on Phen until January 28. So far, I am down 27 lbs. in almost 3 months with that same exercise regimine.

    As yucky as you feel, working out will actually get rid of your cold a little faster. There have been studies done that it speeds up the illness. Unless you have a fever then skip the workouts. Maybe try getting your water in by drinking some hot tea. That way you get your water and maybe you will feel a little better too. I LOVE hot tea when I dont feel well. But dont give up..this is just a little speed bump on the way to your goal. Just keep reminding yourself that as crappy as you feel from being sick now, you will feel even worse if you gain the weight back. So just keep hydrated, try and eat as healthy as you can, and attempt to get a little workout in even if its 15 minutes of walking outside. Hope you feel better soon

    Thank you so much for your reply!!! You are sooo right. I just need to push through this. I think the whole water thing is so hard but I did force myself today and it wasn't much but you know it did make me feel better. I was feeling huge today and I just kept drinking water and I actually feel deflated..lol as weird as that sounds. MMM tea does sound delicious. I actually have tons of tea and I didn't even think of drinking any because I've been too busy moping around. Thanks for the reply again! I'm going to keep at it!

    Looks like your doing a great job!! 16lbs gone!! Won't it be sweet when we don't see a number on the scale that starts with a 2?

    Hi everyone. I'm new here (lurked for awhile though lol then got the guts to join) and this is my first time on Phen.

    Actually Malexis4 - I just read your question about the 37.5 Phen so I wanted to reply.

    When I first went to the doctor, he had me on 30 mg 2xs per day. I went back a little over 2 1/2 weeks later and I had lost 7 pounds.

    Anyway, because I had no "side effects" except for the dry mouth thing, he put me on 37.5 2xs a day. That was last Thursday.

    I started this thing thinking I would just weight in when I went to him every three to four weeks and just measure my loss by the fit of my clothes. But, this Thursday will be three weeks total on Phen and 1 week on 37.5 and I will have no idea what I've lost. (Needless to say, I am getting a scale.)

    With what I have read so far, I have not read that anyone else is on it two times per day. So... I would like to know the answer to your question too if anyone knows.

    Thanks for your replys lousie I think we are in the same boat right now becuse I am barelly working out lately it's like I don't have the same enegry I use to have anymore so running up and down my steps at home n trying to keep up with my 1year old is about all the exerciese I am getting in now a days which makes me feel horriable cuz I was working out almost 5days and break for 2days but now a days I am lucky if I get 2 days in....
    I don't know what to do cuz even my water in take have drop extermelly low below low...so ladies any tips or ides on how to get back on track ???

    Yeah Iv gone from goin on my Wii every night on the fast set free step to maybe 1 or 2 times a week. I really need toget back on track as I only (well I say only but I supose its not "only" if u get my meaning) got to lose 20lb now to get to my ultimate goal.

    Water wise I have a 750ml bottle (old Spring Water bottle with squirtey top, I re-use) with me ALL the time (even when Im out) and as soon as it gets empty I go fill it up. And 750ml equals 26 ounces (used a convertor, LoL) if I have 4 bottles a day that equals just over 100ounces. I find it ALOT easier with the bottle to drink my needed water than always goin to the tap and getin smaller glasses of water.

    Right so its weigh in day for me today.

    I actually lost 3lb last week But...... I had the weekend off and had a crappy wkend too. As a result I put in 2lb so only lost 1lb from my original weight. But Im back on track now. Had a lovely long walk over the park yesday and done me fast step on the Wii also usin sum Everlast sand 3lb weights Iv got.

    I need to get back on track as cos u lot no I only have like 19lb to go to get to my ultimate weight I set myself at the start and it would seem a HUGE waist to start putin it back on or just stickin or hoverin at this weight after all the hard work. So back to motivated now. And its really really really helped that everyone has been tellin me that the7y can easily tell and see that I have lost weight. That kind of rthing really does give u the kick up the butt that u need to get back on track too.

    How is everyone else doin these days. Hope all are good and well.

    HI, I AM ALSO A NEWBIE I STARTED PHEN ON FEB, 11,2010 AND I HAVE LOST 10LBS SO FAR.I DON'T HAVE A SET DIET I JUST CUT DOWN ON MY BREAD INTAKE AND SODAS TO.I DRINK ALOT OF WATER BUT FOR KNOW IF I CRAVE SOMETHING I EAT IT JUST NOT ALOT OF IT THAT WAY I DONT FEEL DEPRIVED SO I WON'T END OF BINJING ON THE FOOD I DENIED MYSELF.I DON'T REALLY KNOW IF THIS IS THE RIGHT WAY BUT IT IS SOME ADVICE MY DOCTOR GAVE ME.I ALSO TRY TO WALK ATLEAST 30 MIN OR MORE A DAY.MY DOCTOR ALSO TOLD ME TO TAKE THE PILL FOR A WEEK AND THEN STOP FOR A WEEK THAT WAY MY BODY DOESN'T GET USED TO IT AND IT STOPS WORKING.     I am still down 15 and getting a little irritated. I have not lost anymore weight in 1.5 weeks. I am constantly walking on my lunch break. I go about one mile every day. I also bought the 30 day Shred DVD and have started that the last two nights.

    I am thinking about taking 2 of my 15 mg pills a day. My doctor said to continue to take one. It is getting hard not seeing my scale move anymore. I did the few days off too and back on. I have a huge bottle of water I refill several times per day. I drink just about a gallon of water per day. I don't know what else to do. On the good note, I did buy some new dress pants for work and skipped an entire size. I keep reminding myself of that when I feel this way.

    ok ladies I need some help I understand that we have to maintain some sort of exercise plan and that we have to follow some type of diet well I started using this new website that I had to write in everything I eat and everything that I drink down to see how much I am really eating. I always thought that I was if not near a 1200 cal diet that i was very close because my appetite was so low. Well after being on this site and following it to the T... I have learned that I have really been closer to a 1400 almost 1500 cal diet!!!!!!!!!! OMG I thought I was going to break down and cry. This site also takes in consideration if you also exercise also so the only reason that I didn’t cry was because on days that I was actually doing my exercises that would put me back at a 1200 1300 cal consumed. Compared to if I consumed only 1200 to 1300 cal and do my exercise it would keep me actually at 700 to an 800 cal diet with exercise. Now keep in mind that I was only exercising and I mean the real exercise 3 days a week for like 60 mins so the rest of the week I was really consuming much more then I thought....
    So I guess my question to everyone is...Is anyone following a specific diet like weight watcher or something and how is that working for you...
    Also if you are just watching what you eat what are you eating that you actually feel satisfied and not just for the moment but for a couple of hours…Also what if anyone knows what types of foods are filling and not just empty cal?? Cuz even though I am not as hungry through out the day cuz of phen when I do eat it feels like I am just eating empty cals which is why only a couple of hours will go by and then it feels like I am hungry again instead of having to remind myself oh I need to eat...so ladies what are you guys eating that holds or helps you feel full???

    Can I join in? I started on Feb 15, 2010. in the first week, I lost 11lbs, and at my month visit, I was down 25lbs. I weighed myself the other day and I have come down another 3.2 I think it was, so that is 28 all together for this first month and like a week. I am going on vacay at the end of may and I want to be at least 50 lbs lighter than I am now, which would put me at like 249-250. i would love to be 60 lbs lighter, but I am not going to kill myself to get there. I think the hardest thing about this whole thing was admitting to myself and my mother that I weighed 316 lbs at the start. So lets pull together guys we can do this!!!! oh and by my birthday which is July 14th,
    I want to be at least in the 190s....havent been there in a LLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNGGGGGGG time.

    malexis4 - I'm following the 'flat belly diet' meals & recipes more or less. While it is incorporating more calories it is with all good for you foods, unprocessed and such. Unfortunately that also makes them more expensive BUT, seriously read up about this plan. I don't like saying that i'm dieting because honestly I want to be following something that even once I get to my ideal weight I can continue with. The foods that will make you feel full is also something the flat belly thing encourages to eat with each meal. They call them MUFAs (monounsaturated fatty acids) and include things like almonds, peanuts,oils, even semi-sweet chocolate chips, etc. You incorporate them into each meal you have and they help you stay full longer. And really I haven't gotten tired of the foods or anything like that and it's been over a month, I'm down 12 lbs. Even if you don't like the flat belly program and take one thing from reading about any of it, the nuts and stuff like that will make you feel satisfied for longer. Hope that gives you some help! It's helped me a lot, following that, drinking my water, and exercising has left me feeling great! I would have loved to say I was down a lot more my first month and didn't want to get discouraged about it, but at the same time I know i'm following something that I can live with and do after I no longer take Phen too and that is so important. I don't want to yo-yo and I feel like in the past from trying all the extreme diets where you can't eat this or that (atkins, south beach, etc.) didn't work for me - not in the long run. Best of luck and read up on the MUFA's

    But thought Id post on here anyways to keep u all updated and that Im still on track. As u can c from my Ticker Im now down to 190lb. Just 1lb from losin 2 stone in total from wen I started my diet on the 2nd of Feb' .

    Hope every one is good and well and still on trac :-)

    @ Louise - CONGRATULATIONS!!! Is it amazing to be in one-derland?? OMG I can't wait! It's so great that you've been doing so well and staying on track! I've been working out like a maniac everyday and trying to calorie shift. I haven't lost much but my icky back fat is slowly melting...so that's good news =) Keep up the good work!!     well I have completely quit going to the drs because I feel the meds had only taken me so far but I am still following the diet plans and will begin exercising more. I really want to buy a pair of those sketchers that help tone you up but they are a little pricey, which is also why i quit going to the Dr. I just hope I don't regain the weight like i did before I feel as long as I continue to eat healthy and watch my portions I should be good. Good luck to all who are still on the meds. I will still come around to check on you alls progress.

    I got my sketchers shape up shoes for Christmas, I just started wearing them this last month when the nicer weather started, I think it's too soon to tell if they work, but they sure are comfortable! Let me know how they work out for you! Ps I heard kmart carries knockoffs, check there first!

    Hey Louise!!!! Im still here... OMG IM SO JEALOUS, ONDERLAND!!!!! I just wanted to say Hi to everyone and encourage those who are not seeing fast results, not to give up. My metabolism has been kind of slow but this week I lost 7 lbs, I was so excited. For me the main thing is packing meals, and finding time for a little cardio atleast 4 times a week. Nothing crazy... and instead of reaching for junk I grap something healthy. If I must have a peice of something junky, I take a small one and drink a ton of water! This so far has helped and my stubborn metabolism is finally starting to shift gears, I couldnt be happier. The numbers arent quite what I expected but the inches are which is a great feeling. I hope everyone starts to post again, we all need encouragement and motivation once in a while.. Hope everyone is well!!!

    I got back from vacation and did ok while i was gone. I didn't follow my diet exactly and took a break from phen. I didn't gain any weight which I am very happy about. I have been back one week and started working out again the minute I got back. I am still doing the 30 day shred DVD. I started taking 2-15 mg pills a few days ago.

    I have only lost about 3-4 more pounds, but I am happy with that. I realized that I have lost many inches off my body and not so much the pounds lately. I put on a pair of jeans i started before the diet and they almost fell off. Before vacation I had to buy a new pair of jeans and I am already belting those.

    Tonight I saw of picture of myself from a family Easter get together. I know I have lost weight but when I looked at myself in the photo I was amazed. As for me, I get caught up on what the scale says and I need to realize that my body is physically changing no matter what the scale says. Sometimes I don't see the weight loss when I look in the mirror, but can feel it in my clothes.

    Ok, so I'm not posting this message on Feb. 1st, but that is when I started phen. How are all you 2/1 folks doing now? Justing wondering how i am measruing up by date. I go to doctor for April weigh in Thursday. Will update 3rd month then. We need a group and challenge of our own.

    Since Feb 15th I've lost 20lbs and am trying to lose 30 more. Once I hit that 30 I think I'll be able to maintain or even lose a bit more. I know my original goal was 150-155 but honestly, I think even the 160's would be good at this point.

    I pack my lunches daily and workout as much as I can. Our son is involved in two baseball leagues so that takes up some of my normal workout time. In addition I'm in a Masters program so I'm trying to balance my time.

    Ok, went to the Dr's today. Only down 1.5. I know I haven't been doing right though. I guess it's better than being up any amount. I did not get in on the original start date for the challenge (Mar 1 ?) but, I did begin Phen Feb1, so I will officially join in the challenge now. Hummm... don't think 25lbs is realistic for me starting this late, but I will challenge myself to 15lbs by June 1. That puts me at 225, I would be happy with that.

    I hope to hear from somebody the next mth and a half, can use the support! Hope everyone else is doing well on challenge....

    Let's go get our summer/sexy back ladies!!!!!
