Anyone ever done this diet? A few of my co-workers are doing it but it seems like there isn't enough calories for the day...and you eat hot dogs and ice cream?? There is also a supposed chemical reacton when you eat the certain foods at each meal. I'm not sure if I'm buying into this one..
Any thoughts?

Oh I think this is a diet I did....Did it have beets in it? If it does then I did it and I did lose the 10lbs but you cannot go back to eating junk or you will gain it all back fast. I love crazy diets like these. I also did the scared heart diet lol

I have done a 3 day diet, but it didnt consist of hot dogs and stuff lol It had steak, hard-boiled eggs, cauliflower, hamburger, green beans..alot of good healthy foods and I dropped weight fast eating it...I need to try that again!

Along with everything else, yes I did that one too 21 years ago. It has been around for a long time. I did lose but like the other one said, gained it right back.
It is just another fad that you lose and then gain it back. I wasn't hungry while doing it as far as I rememeber but I was much smaller when I did it. I did it right after I had my 2nd child. |

I've heard of it and tried it and yes I did lose weight. But seriously, it's a crash diet - nothing new. I am sure there is no "chemical" reaction although they do try to bs you and tell you that on websites containing the diet. I remember I bought these overpriced laxatives ("diet pills") and was instructed to follow this diet (on the pamplet inside). If you try a crash diet, definitely make sure you have a plan for after the diet.

Yes it does have the beets but you can substitute them I guess. I mean I'm eating really healthy now so it makes me wonder if this would just boost my weight loss, as long as I went back to eating healthy afterward, which I would. Maybe I'll try it, Wed-Fri. Here's a copy of the diet if anyone wants it. You can also just google 3 day diet.
What You Can Eat: The 3 Day Diet is a very specific food plan that must be followed precisely. Portions must be eaten exactly as specified and dieters are warned not to overeat -- otherwise the promised 10 pound weight loss may not be achieved. Likewise, dieters should not under-eat, even if they are not hungry. The detailed plan does not mention or recommend any exercise. I had a BF a long time ago who lost mega weight using this diet. In addition to the three days, he did an hour of exercise daily, and on the 4 days of the week not on the diet, ate three square meals a day with no snacking in between. I'm pretty sure the diet was issued to him by the army too.. not that it matters, just saying. I think i tried it too, but couldnt eat the TUNA (barf!) i might try it again tho. I love crash diets and the instant gratification of seeing pounds lost qiuckly. Hmmm, 3 day diet challenge anyone?
But i do remember beets being on the thing too.. Where's the beets? lol. |

MsMil - I would def do a challenge surrounding this diet!! When do you want to start? I have a question for all of you: Alot of the negative reviews say its all water weight that you lose, its a fad diet, you will gain it all back..blah blah..but do you guys think it could all be water weight if we have been working out and eating healthy already? Maybe they were just referring to people just starting to "diet" who want a quick fix? But I know we all know it's not a quick fix, this is a lifestyle change...but I do think it could help boost our weight loss!! I mean even if I don't lose 10 lbs like they claim you can, I would be happy with anything that was 3 lbs or more since it usually takes me a week to lose 3lb! Here's the substitution list and a little more info. ![]() Variations of the three-day diet Some versions of the three-day diet diet allow herbs, lemon juice, vinegar, soy sauce, mustard, catsup, and Worcestershire sauce to add spice or flavor foods. Versions of this diet that allow food substitutions do so on the basis that it is a calorie based diet. As long as food substitutions have equivalent calorie amounts, the diet will remain effective. Other versions provide specific lists of permitted substitutions: An orange instead of grapefruit Tuna instead of cottage cheese and vice versa Frozen yogurt instead of ice cream Cauliflower instead of broccoli and vice versa Green beans instead of broccoli or cauliflower Beets instead of carrots ![]() A slice of toast instead of five crackers or vice versa AND HERE IS HOW TO SUBSTITUTE TUNA IN THE 3 DAY DIET: (plain tuna is not so good) 1) Substitute another type of fish that has the same amount calories and protein as the tuna. K erin, i'll do it. I SERIOUSLY doubt we will be losing 10 lbs in 3 days, bcz like you said, we are already dieting and exercising. So there will be no major shock to the body that the calories are reduced.. however, maybe there is some magical thing that happens bcz of the food combos, idk. I hope so, LOL! The BF i knew that did this was very successful on it.. lost a total of 50 lbs within the span of a few months. And when he went off of it, he continued on with eating 3 square meals w/no snacking (and he ate like a HORSE! anything he wanted!), and an hour of exercise everyday. Was completely trim and muscular in 6 months. BUT... this was a GUY (big weight loss advantage right off the bat), who was in his early 20's, who previously lived off of fast food and frozen pizza and did hardly any physical activity. So, considering all that, will we see the same results? Probably not. But, i still think its worth a shot. Besides, its only 3 days, AND we can have ice cream

Yes Monday sounds good! Actually, I am doing this starting today and seeing what happens by Sat morning. I will take Sat and Sun off and then start up with you again Mon. I know your suppose to have 4 days "off" but that's ok. I'll get back to the normal schedule next week. I just want to see if I can do this without cheating. After I seen what was included in this diet I realized I had "tried" it before, but it was called the cardiac diet. Apparently this diet has many names. Anyway, I tried like 2 or 3 different times and each time I would cheat, but I'm hoping that doing this with the help of Phen will keep me on track! I'll let you all know my results on Sat. This morning I was 169.6, so that will be my starting weight. I am actually utilizing the substitution list because there are things I do not care for in the diet. I'm not sure if there is a limited number of substitutions you can use but I'm not worried about that b/c I need to like what I'm eating! This is why I'm not sure how succesful I'll be, but we'll see! I will be using the orange instead of grapefruit, chicken instead of tuna or cottage cheese, and carrots instead of beets..I hate beets..lol..o and I will just be making my eggs sunny side and use no calorie cooking spray. I also hate hard boiled eggs. Anyone else want to join in for Monday??

haha I so would join, but I HATE: beets, cauliflower, ice cream, coffee, green beans, cottage chz and the list goes on and on and isnt that the majority of whats IN the diet?? lol ughhhh I have done this b4, but it had totally different foods in it! Ok... I'm in too.... I could use a change... .... so I will start on Monday too because I have to buy most of the stuff.... This doesn't have to be unhealthy at all.... whole grain bread, real peanut butter, organic nitrate free hot dogs, and real vanilla icecream..... nope I don't see a problem.... I will stick to my black coffee and forget the sweet and low though

So today is Day 3 for me! It has been going surprisingly well. I'm not hungry at all and I just feel like I'm doing my body good. I will start over again on Monday with you ladies. The only thing that will s u c k today is that I am suppose to go to a friend's house later on for a jewelry party and just to hang out and I def wanted to have some drinks! My drinks usually consist of diet soda, which has no calories, but of course liquor has calories. I mean I know I wont drink enough to gain a pound but I just feel like I would be cheating b/c you are not suppose to have alcohol while on the 3 day diet.
I mean I'm not an alcoholic it's not like I HAVE to drink, I just wanted too. So who knows what I'll decide later. I prob will have a couple, b/c if I can't have things I want here and there, I'll never succeed with this weight loss journey. I need moderation not restrictions!

Hey All!
Well Wed morning I was 169.6 and today (Sat) I was 167.4. So I lost 2.2 lbs. I must add that after my workout Thurs nite I was starving so I had a tortilla shell with a little melted cheese...Fri for dinner I didn't have what was on the diet, I had 2 small veggie tacos, but I made sure they equalled appox the same amount of calories as the food that the diet said to have. What messed me up was that I had a jewelty party to go on to on Fri which I thought was at 7pm but was really at 6! So I had no time to cook my chicken (bc I can't eat plain tuna) b/c I had just gotten home from work a little after 5 and looked at the invite at like 530 to double check the time!..and I also did not work out on Day 3 as I had no time...oh and I did have about 4 vodka teas at the party ![]() So with all this said, I'm not sure if I would of lost more without the above mentioned and with exercise on Fri (I did work out on Wed and Thurs and I did have the energy to do it!), but I'm still happy. I'll take 2.2 in 3 days since I usually have only been losing 2.5-3 lbs a week. I will start this over again on Monday and give a final weigh in Thurs morning. It will be easier since I have no plans any of those evenings to mess up my meals and I won't be drinking either. So who is with me for starting this Monday, 1/18???

INTERESTING! i posted on the new year thread that i can't lose a lb if i was paid to bc i do well during the day but at night time i blow it big time! yea i made home made brownies tonight! but yea monday is a good day for me to start too.. r there any subs for the tea/coffee bc i hate both maybe diet coke?? lol, i'm addicted i can't help it.

I'm mad cause I been stress eating cause I'm all stressed about a surprise surgery I have to go thro so I put on a few pounds and I want to lose ten pounds before my surgery so yea whst a good diet to try! So I'm up for it, will try to get all my foods this weekend! Even if I don't lose ten pounds mayb 5 that sounds good to me! So can we do it 3 days then take 4 days off then do it 3 more days? Ok, I will go today and get the foods that I dont already have. The only thing I wont eat on there is the cauliflower and ice cream. But I dont think that will hurt me too bad. 3 days shouldnt be too hard to handle

Yay Tex I'm gonna go get my food tonight to and going to go right by the plan, I sure hope I can drop 10 pounds in three days that would b cool! I hope Danielle does it tommorow with us to and anyone else wanting to try it!! I'm excited cause I need to drop ten pounds bad lol! I'm stuck!! Taz

Ok ladies I will be starting over again tomorrow! I will post my starting weight in the morning.
Taz - yes you do this for 3 days and then 4 days off and then start again on the following monday! Of course on the off days you are suppose to eat healthy, not pig out b/c then you might gain it back. Well good luck ladies!! I'll post each day on my progress!

Ok, so my starting weight is 230.4lbs and I just ate my breakfast for Day 1...Im not drinking the black coffee becuz I just DONT drink coffee period cuz its gross lol so Im drinking the grapefruit juice instead. Here goes nothing!

I was 167.4 on Sat, but like I said, I didn't work out on the weekend and TOM is coming so it's prob a combo of both. I just ate breakfast for Day 1, but no grapefruit. Too bitter for me. So I had an orange. I also hate coffee but I do like tea so I am drinking that now!! Good luck Ladies, We can do this!!

I agree no coffee for me either, I hate tea ( hot tea) but I'm bout to have my 1/2 grapefruit n my yummy toast with peanut butter lol! I'm already anxious to have my ice cream tonight haha
eating this bread is making me nervous cause I haven't ate bread in months mayb only once in the last year so I chose it carefully and found the only one on shelf with 9 carbs per slice anywas, can't wait until tommorow weigh in hoping to b at least 1-2 pounds down goood luck girls taz
