I have tried it and its alright. i got tired of it eventually. try stepping up workouts, try doing 35mins 5x a week or just add an extra day than normal. (cause im not sure how much you workout) have you tried some weight training? what are you eating? are you counting your calories?

    Default Hi

I do treadmills, Jillian Michaels 30 Day shred and use some weights, and other DVDs. I workout 5days a week but now i've been busy,so I do it 3 days. I don't count calories, and drink over 100 oz's of water a day. I like phen but now im on 30mg capsules instead of the 37.5mg pills(white w/blue specks).
I eat everything right now, but will get back to my routine of eating veggeis, fruits, and prtoeins more after New Years. When I 1st did phen I ate very little so hopefully I can start that again.

Hmm, there's a possibility you might be replacing fat with muscle Are your clothes fitting better? Plus, some people just don't really start losing until month 2-3 also.

Well...you said you are eating everything right now and not watching your calories, you could be taking in more calories than you think. I keep a diet journal and it helps me become more accountable for my dietary choices. I realized that while I was staying between 1200-1300 calories....I was consuming way too much sodium because of those processed foods and eating way too much fat from nuts and avocados...which in the long run can be counterproductive.

Now, i'm at a point where I can increase my caloric intake between 1300-1400 calories because I am active and my metabolism has revved up

Are you looking at the slimfast meal plan where you use 2 of their meals and 1 snack...then you prepare your own food for the remaining meal and two snacks?. Or are you trying to do the shake for breakfast and lunch then a sensible dinner?

Keep in mind they just had a big recall on some of Slimfast's products....there was a thread about it posted in here, so you might wanna check that out too.

One thing I will say...watch the sodium in a lot of those shakes and pre-packaged meals. I try to keep my sodium under 140 mg per serving

I saw reviews on the diet and people said that it was easy and the meals and snacks provided a lot of choices so they didn't get bored...and the food kept them full, however in the snacks...one reviewer said that she did supplement the snacks with a piece of fruit or some veggies. Most people did the Slimfast Optima because its supposed to have less sugars than the other slimfast shakes.
    Goals...everybody's gotta have them

    Phase I- 199.0 lbs- completed on (3/14/2010)

    Phase II- 179.0 lbs
    Phase III-164.0 lbs
Phase IV (the home stretch)-150 lbs

I have tried slimfast before and it was a waste of time and money. I never felt full from the shakes and they have a lot of carbs!

Like most diet foods, they are really designed to keep us fat. It pays for them to be that way bc ppl will keep buying the products. By using slimfast, you may lose some weight at first, but you're likely to gain much of it back if not more. I agree with others and say just start counting your calories. it's a little annoying at first, but after a while you get to a point where you can almost look and something and know about how many calories are in it. Eventually you wont have to write them all down. I use to keep track of all the food I ate, the calorie, fat and fiber count. Now I just write down what i ate bc i have a good idea about everthing else and I just want to see the food in black and white so I don't over eat. If you're not already watching your non water beverages, i.e. coffee, tea, pop etc, you need to start doing that as well. I cut these things from my diet completely. I ONLY drink water and little milk and very rarely (less than once a month) a small glass of juice. Even then I count the calories of these into my daily allowance. I basically follow the weight watchers plan while on Phen. I just don't go to meetings or anything.

I hope this helps you some.

Personally, I like slim fast, I can use it as a grab and go, as far as following their plan and replacing it with two meals a day, no I would never do that. That would set me up for failure because I know I would get hungry. You could probably replace one meal and then eat something high in protein about two hours later.

As far as the carbs go, they do have the optima which is lower in carbs and higher in protein. Sometimes if I am craving chocolate, I drink one instead of eating a candybar and it stays with me much longer then the candy bar would.

So, I guess you would have to determine if you could really stay full following their plan.

    Best of luck,

I agree with S_M, they are a yo-yo diet, they have too many carbs and not enough protein or nutritional value, plus wouldnt you rather eat something better tasting like half a sandwhich. I guess it would be ok if you drank one on occasion, but in all reality your better off drinking protein shakes, they burn more fat and taste better. I have been on this board for a year and a half and have seen many people stall on weight loss if they drink slim fast, after they learn how many sugars n carbs they have, and stop drinking them, their weights moved! So I dont even bother.

I went to the Dr this past Monday and was given a prescription for Phen and also put on a liquid diet consisting of slim fast with skim milk, TONS of water, and all the veggies I want.

My Dr said this is a radical diet and should not normally be used, but I have 35 days until I ship to my job training with the Army and need to lose 10 lbs or I risk getting kicked out. I have been trying since January to lose weight (I've lost 25 lbs) but I gained 10 lbs back in the last 4 months because I got injured & couldn't work out. My normal eating habits are very healthy and I work out daily, so my lifestyle is fit for losing weight, my body just doesn't want to get rid of it.

It is nice to be able to taste chocolate & not feel guilty about it. Today is my 4th day on Phen and this diet, let me tell you, I am hungry. Or at least my stomach makes noises like it is hungry. I am not sure if it is just my body adjusting to this or what, hopefully it goes away soon.

As far as your situation goes, you aren't mandated to lose the weight in a certain amount of time. You don't have the right mindset for losing weight. You need to keep a food journal so you are aware of exactly what you are putting into your body. Find time to work out, even if it means getting up 30 min early to go for a brisk walk. Doing workouts in the morning helps wake you up, plus you don't have to dread doing them later in the day. If you want to lose a few pounds, start eating properly today, quit eating everything in sight, put your mind on the track that you need to change your lifestyle and not rely on quick fix diets.

There probably are plenty of people who would be examples that slim fast is no a yo-yo diet. Almost every diet can be a yo-yo diet no matter what it entails.

I would advise against slim fast unless it is the lo-carb version. If you just want to jump start your current diet, I see nothing wrong with that.
