Default My update, need food ideas.

    Hello everyone,
For those who dont know me, my name is Aly and I have been on this journey since July of 08, I have had my ups and downs since then. I lost approx. 50 lbs on phen, the last few lbs were lost and gained a few times. Now I am 7 weeks pregnant, and find myself bingeing like crazy, naturally I am craving the foods I shouldnt eat and giving into them anyways. I need help figuring out some quick, healthy filling meals that are healthier, but still appeal to a pregnant womans taste (im not craving veggies like crazy lol) I have gained about 10 lbs since I found out about the pregnancy 3 weeks ago, granted each of my breast weighs about as much as a brick, I still dont need to be gaining 10 lbs every month for the next 8 months. My clothes are snug as it is if they fit at all! I come home after working 9 hours and the will to make food is zip! I want to go straight to bed or the couch. Any ideas on what to make?

Also if anyone has any modern maternity wear that they no longer want, and fits me, I would glady take it. I was wearing 14/16, but im probably in 16/18s now, xl shirts. I hate getting hand me downs maternity wear from grandparents, I still want to look like a human being .

Congrats on the pregnancy! I don't really have any quick ideas. But I hope you can find something!

    Congratulations!!!

Honestly Aly, you probably didn't gain 10 lbs. Since you were exercising and low carbing you probably gained some water weight back when your glycogen stores returned to normal. I believe your body craves things because you need them, so give into your cravings, just remember portion control. At this time I think you should try to eat a well balanced diet full of healthy foods, especially fiber, and try calorie counting, when pregnant you need to consume about an extra 300 calories, and not "eat for two". If your doctor clears you for exercise you need to consume even more calories.

Right now just focus on taking care of you and your baby, and keep coming back to let us know how you are doing.

I always tell women that in the first trimester, eat whatever will stay down. The baby is getting its nutrients from the vitamins that you are taking, you just have to keep yourself hydrated and nourished. With my first pregnancy, during the first trimester (I was sick as a dog), I lived off of pizza and spaghettio's...those were the only things that I wouldn't throw up. So right now, whatever works for you is what you do.
Don't worry, chances are you WILL NOT gain ten pounds a month. Everybody gains weight differently. Some women gain a lot in the beginning, and then stall out, others (me) lose in the beginning and pack it all on at the end (gained 15 lbs the last month of my first pregnancy...middle of summer). Just try to be reasonable with what you allow yourself to eat. It shouldn't be much different than your diet before getting pregnant (although you do need carbs right now). Just STAY HYDRATED!! That is very important.
Good snacks would be anything with peanut butter, cheese, and or milk (calcium). You just have to try different things, no two women, and no two pregnancies are the same. If you are craving sweets, my guess is it's a girl (an old wive's tale), but I was wrong on both of mine as far as intuition goes.
Keep us posted. It's all a guessing game, and that doesn't change when the baby gets here either!

congrats aly!!! my cousin is pregnant right now and has all my maternity clothes but she's due next month so on myspace or on here send me ur address and i'll get them to u as soon as she's done with them... also when u find out what ur having let me know.. everyone i know is having boys so i have all of kaylee's clothes/accessories that she's outgrown.. i've taken some to the goodwill but i've kept a lot too bc they were too expensive to just give to a stranger!

as far as food just do ur best... the first trimester is really hard so just try to get through it.. when i hit my 4th month i always felt like a different person no more morning sickness, more energy.. that's when i'd suggest concentrating on eating healthier... try to walk as much as u can.. good luck!!

Thanks everyone, I will take your advice to just try and make good choices and eat in moderation. I'm lucky that I can keep everything down during the day, the morning is the worst for me so I grab crackers before I even get out of bed in the morning. Luvin I have been craving sweets like crazy, bought a jar of nutella on saturday and it is half empty already, but I also crave salts and breads, so its probably my carbs catching up to me.
Ethansmom thanks for the clothes offer, ill send you my addy.Of course I'm going to let everyone know when I find out the sex. My husband insists its going to be a boy, sigh men, lol, im happy with a happy healthy baby .

Ok, so I am a sweet-a-holic. Sweets have always been my problem, never salty foods or greasy foods or anything like that. So I will give you some ideas on healthier sweets, but they still are not completely healthy...they just help curb that "sweet tooth" a bit.

    My favorites are:

    Sweet tooth:
Strawberries dipped in sugar (so that it curbs the "sweet tooth", but also gives me something healthy to eat)

    Chocolate tooth:
Strawberries dipped in DARK chocolate, not milk chocolate (but I only dip the tips so that I don't "over do" it and gain all of the calories from the chocolate)

Ice Cream: (not a big fan of ice cream, but here's something I like)
Vanilla yogurt ice cream with fruit (blueberries, strawberries, black berries, etc.) I put fresh fruit on top and just eat it with every bite. I also like my ice cream kind of "smoothied" so I will put the vanilla yogurt ice cream in my blender with fruit and blend them together to have like a smoothie or shake.

    I hope this helps some!!!!
    11/10/09 = 235.5
    03/01/10 = 198
    04/15/10 = 190
    11/1/10 = 175

Started Phen again, just finishing up last bottle:
    02/21/2011 = 186
    03/01/2011 = 184
Goal by May 31st = 165, kind of a big jump, but we will see....

    Congratulations Aly..

I've never had a baby so I have no advice, etc to give other than just my well wishes.
I do not condone the use of any online websites to purchase Phentermine without a prescription. As far as I know this is illegal. I obtain mine only through my doctor.

It occurred to me after I posted that one of my favorite meals when I was working 55 hours a week with another 10 hours of commuting was a roast.

I'd get whatever cut of meat was on sale (brisket for preference, but chuck, round, rump all worked just fine); toss that into a cooking bag with potatoes, carrots, and onions; add a little water and a sprinkle a package of Lipton's onion soup mix over the lot. It was several lunches and dinners, and suited me just fine.

I've always liked cold sweets. I just put a few blackberries into the freezer. Those will be delish in an hour or so.
