Default How do you reward yourself?

Ok, so I have been thinking of ways to reward myself. In the past I would reward myself with food...have a good day, lets go out to dinner.. have a bad day, lets eat cake. Now that I have started this journey I would like to set up a positive reward system to give myself that extra umph to continue to make positive changes. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas, thoughts or things you do to reward yourself. Do you do them weekly, monthly or when you hit a certain goal? So far I was thinking a day at the salon or spa, jewelery, shoes....I have read that if you set up a positive reward system it helps better your chance for success. Let me know your thoughts

I try to reward myself with small inexpensive things that I don't normally do for myself - a new book, pair of earrings, nail polish, a new lipstick, pedicure, to go the movies, pick up a new magazine, etc.

I have written all my little rewards on pieces of paper and when I reach a goal - I pull from my "jar" of rewards and treat myself. I try to make the reward a "non-food" item so that I don't reverse my hard work.

I have other rewards for when I reach larger losses - 25 lbs, 50 lbs, etc. Those rewards get larger - a facial, massage, new outfit, new hair style - you get the idea.

My ultimage reward for when I reach my goal weight is to splurge on a pair of Christian Louboutin pee-toe pumps (on sale, of course). I already have the picture on my frig and I can't wait to get there.

These little rewards help me stay motivated.

    Good luck.

When I reward myself I usually buy clothes and its because I really need them and sometimes I do cute underwear or a hair cut...
I am waitting to get to goal and then I will throw all my old clothes and buymyself new outfits and I will so something with my hair that I never done so when people see me they have to look at me twice to make sure is me lol!

I didn't even think of doing this, what an awesome idea!!! And I am obsessed with shoes too..so what an awesome reward that would be!!!!

I am thinking of doing the same thing curvygirl mentioned. Having smaller rewards for small bits of success and larger rewards for the big goals that are met.

Thanks to all of you for the great ideas!
    11/10/09 = 235.5
    03/01/10 = 198
    04/15/10 = 190
    11/1/10 = 175

Started Phen again, just finishing up last bottle:
    02/21/2011 = 186
    03/01/2011 = 184
Goal by May 31st = 165, kind of a big jump, but we will see....

Thank you ladies for all of your great ideas!

Curvey - love the idea of multiple choices to pull from a "rewards jar"!

Mary - I was thinking the exact same thing - doing a totally new hair style and ridding myself of all of my fat clothes once at goal. Kind of like the make over that they do on the Biggest Loser with new hair, clothes and makeup.

So for now I think I will use the smaller rewards for smaller goals and save the big rewards for when I hit big milestones. Thanks again ladies!

I think rewards are a must!! I was feeling a bit blah this week. The weight loss was good the overall loss terrific but I just felt miserable SO...booked myself a hair color. Changed from the usual chocolate brownish drab color and went lighter & brighter! Happy Happy Happy-just what I needed. Came home, redid my Avatar and posted new pic. Feeling so much better now I have set myself some realistic goals so now will have to think carefully of my rewards. I have the final one sorted (an overseas holiday with shopping spree in July) and I have booked it already, the others I am working out right now!!!

I realized that i really didn't have a reward system in place...i have things I wanted to do. However, this is my plan...since i'm trying to go from 234 to 155.

@ -15lb....a new purse (i bought that yesterday at the Coach outlet...it was 50% off and i got an additional 20% off with a coupon)

@ -25lb....a new pair of boots or heels

when i get to One-der-land...which is -35 lb....I will treat myself to a new semi-formal type dress.

@ -40 (which is about the halfway point), i will treat myself to a spa day

@ -60 (a new swimsuit....hopefully a 2-piece) if its in the fall...i'll figure out a substitute for the swimsuit that i can wear.

@ -80...which is my goal...i'm going on a vacation someplace warm, where i can wear that two piece. Hopefully somewhere out of the country. I also want to take a burlesque class and maybe get some photos taken too.

These numbers are tentative...and might change as far as when I do these things.

I also have a inches reward and goal...I'm trying to lose 5" from my waist and 4" from my hips in order to get into a size 12 pair of Express jeans...since according to their measurement table a size 12 is about a 32" waist and 42" hips. As of 11/27, my high waist is 37" and my hips are 45.75"

I don't do rewards really. But one thread I read about the lovely miss kitty ventura buying herself a ring.
So I decided a few days later that when I get to onederland I will do this too. I decided I would get a Montana Sapphire ring (I live in Montana), and the gems would be different colors. Each color would represent someone or something that helped me on my journey. This way I'll always have something with me to remind me of Montana and my journey.
So.... now i just need to make it to onderland. It will take me a while, but that's ok, it will be worth it.
I do not condone the use of any online websites to purchase Phentermine without a prescription. As far as I know this is illegal. I obtain mine only through my doctor.

I buy new clothes and shoes .. keeps me motivated to keep fitting in the smaller sizes.

    10/27/09 - 158lbs
    11/10/09 - 153
    11/24/09 - 149
    12/08/09 - 143
    12/22/09 - 139
    01/05/10 - 134
    01/19/09 - 131
    02/02/10 - 126
02/16/10 - Goal of 125 at least... may aim for 115 if I make this goal.
