Well, I knew it was bound to happen sooner or later...I've been on phen for about 4 weeks and I've finally fallen off of the wagon. These last couple of days have been really bad for me...eating bad, drinking bad, not keeping count of calories...not drinking enough water...etc. I'm so mad at myself I could scream. I have to go back to the dr. for the 1 month check up on Wednesday and here I have screwed up the very last week...Halloween, sons birthday party...just a couple of excuses for me. Starting tomorrow I HAVE to get back on track so I don't loose this battle I'm fighting with my weight. Has anyone else been able to get back on track after a bad couple of days? I'm just so frustrated with myself...I wish I could rewind a couple of days back and tell myself not to get carried away like I have...Ugh.

I totally agree....its about how you pick yourself back up. Recognize that you fell off and jump back on! Good luck!

I find its easier to get back on track when i've gone totally nuts for a while. ill tell you what the first 3 months of trying to lose weight was the hardest. i was always giving up and even when i didnt give up it felt like it wasnt working. now my diet and exercise routine is almost a habit and even when im not on phen im eating as if i was. it wasnt until maybe the end of august that suddenly i looked different! even after 50 lbs i still would get so frustrated and still saw myself the same. dont give up, the beginning is the hardest part, it will get easier!!!

I think in this battle we all have been there and done that.
The MOST important thing to remember is YOU ARE HUMAN AND MAKE MISTAKES. The SECOND most important thing is to get back on track and keep moving forward. I allow myself one treat day a week. This helped me not to lose control and to keep it all in perspective. The damage is NOT as bad as you think it is...do not let a few days of falling off the horse keep you down. Think about the success and how far you have come. EX: If you have lost a total of 10 pounds and since you have had a bad few days and you only gained back 5 or even 9, you still have lost 5 pounds or or 1 pound that is a victory in and of itself. I have been on and off this horse too many times, if I beat myself up over falling I will never get on track and stay on track. I have decided to concentrate on small goals to get to my BIG goal. That seems to be working better for me. Hug yourself, you are beautiful and you can do it!

Like everyone else said the important thing now IS NOT to beat yourself up but to get back up and move towards your goal at all costs. Be relentless! What helps me is asking myself how bad to you really want this weight to be off. I look at the other posters and get so much encouragement by looking at their successes and failures. There are so people that have even lost 100+ like Ms. Woo. I say to myself, I want that for me--not to show off--well maybe I do but for me. I deserve to shed this full-figured bombshell body and be a sexy bombshell! LOL
We are behind you cheering you on!!! Before you know it you will reach goal. This little bump in the road is your stepping stone to success. You are a winner and you will conquer this issue with your weight. WE ALL WILL!!!

I agree not to stress yourself out because that just makes weight loss harder. My suggestion is that you incorperate more of the foods you love into your regular regimin so that you dont end up falling off the wagon and bingeing as often. We all fall off from time to time, but incorperating some of these foods makes it less often. The key here is portion control and moderation, if you want some cake have some, just be smart about it and make sure your adding it into your daily calorie intake. Sometimes a mix up like this after a few weeks of only eating healthy can increase your weight loss, so use that as motivation to get the weight back down again.

Hey Nat,
I have been there done that as well. We all are human and as long as you know what to do to get back on track that is what matters. We are human and food seems to be the celebration for parties, promotions , happiness, sad days and just because its there. Think about every time something good or bad happens in our life we tend to celebrate it with food. Its always "Come on you wanna go out to eat or I heard whatever restaurant has this new burger or other food item out you wanna try it?" I love food but have learned that when I mess up the bad feeling afterwards and I am tired of going on that rollercoaster ride. I cannot even count how many Mondays were my start over day but Im kind of fed up with myself now because this has to be a lifetime. I have learned to control my binges by having a cheat day with one meal and the rest of the meals are still healthy that day. That helps me so I wont feel so deprived from some of the foods I loved but now my cheat foods are extra nuts or hummus and whole grain chips instead of ice cream or pizza. I still love those foods but if I can satisfy that craving with dried fruit or something else healthy I try and stay geared towards that so when that day comes when I just have to have that slice of pizza or so I can say wow I haven't had this in months and I won't feel as bad. Holidays are coming so we all have to be strong but sorry so long its just that i have received so much good tips and advice from here that if the little bit I do can help anyone I feel this is my way of saying THANK YOU TO ALL of you that take the time out and read our worries and questions by responding and helping!! God Bless and take care to you and all the members :>) |

i was just there but i managed to get right back up just last week. My physical, emotional, and spiritual being dropped down so much. For the whole month of october i was in an extreme rollercoaster of emotional turmoil. I started contemplating about just giving up Phen for good. Bad relationships with everyone around me and also consequences of my actions cause me to become depressed. My self esteem was very low and I couldn't look at myself in the mirror. I remotivated myself by saying I almost 25lbs in two months, I can lose another 20-30 by New Years Eve last sunday. I told myself November 1st and on, things will start falling into place and I pray to God that His will, will be done.
Now, after one week of jumping back in the journey I am beginning to feel better about myself and life. remember that you have the will power to lose weight. don't let food win. believe in yourself and ask God for strenght to keep on going. |

You can do it. My first weigh in was Saturday and I was down six pounds; however, I ate between 1800-2000 calories on Friday and Saturday. Not good! On Sunday I think I ate 1600. I try to eat around 1400 a day. One of my tricks has been if I allow myself 1600 on a particular day (say, going to dinner and want a few extra calories, etc), then I eat 1200 the next day so that it balances out.
First thing in the morning, when I wake up, my first thought is "what did I eat yesterday? Did I mess up?" and when the answer is "No", I feel wonderful! It's a great way to start the morning. There have been times (before the Phen, and not too often, luckily) when we'd get the munchies late at night, and go to McDonald's or make grilled cheese...the next morning I'd wake up and feel really really guilty. And it's just not worth it. Next time you go overboard, think about how you FEEL--physically AND mentally. That double bacon cheeseburger is suddenly not as great as you thought it was. |

What ever you do, don't give up or beat yourself up. You are doing a great job. One day of falling off the wagon is not going to mess up all of the hard work you have done. You can do this!! Keep moving forward and you will reach your goal.

I think that nobody can stick to a perfect schedule, count every calorie they eat and say ‘no’ to all the fat food. This is impossible! We can’t cross out all the holidays from the calendar and we are allowed to make mistakes. The most important is to come back on the track and go on with your diet plan. As long as you remember your main goal you can manage to lose weight. I write this post to motivate myself because I can’t also follow my diet perfectly well and allow myself snacking on yummy chocolates and pizza. I can be also mad at myself for doing this but my mind says ‘thank me’ because it helps me to go on with my phentermine treatment and lose extra pounds.

Hi NatShae,
Don't stress. I am new to Phen but not to the weight loss battle and I have experienced the "falling off the wagon" thing as well! One mind-set that thwarts many weight-loss attempts is the black-and-white thinking that dieting is an all-or-none deal; if you go off for one or two days, you've blown it, it's over. WELL IT IS NOT OVER. First thing is, don't beat yourself up. When you start a low cal diet and stick to it religiously week in and week out your body's natural instinct to preserve itself at all costs kicks in. Sensing a calorie deficit, your body shifts into starvation mode, shutting down all fat burning as it hoards calorie stores, and your initial rapid weight loss slows or stalls completely. You are also going to crave all the things you have been depriving yourself of. Cycling (or Zig zag) provides higher-calorie days to allow you a day of guilt free eating one day a week and to "trick" your metabolism back into gear and into burning fat again. The zig zag diet plan where calories are shifted around is said to trick your metabolism so it cannot anticipate how many calories are coming and therefore it can remain high. One of the benefits to the zig zag or calorie shifting method is that you don't feel deprivation because you are not going for weeks on end without any treats which can lead to falling off the wagon. This method gives you something to look forward to and a day of guilt free eating each week. You will be fine, it happens to all of us at some time. I wish you every success. |
