    Default Snacks anyone?

I've been told that it is good for you to eat something every 3-4 hours or so, but what exactly would be a good, fulfilling snack??? Any advice?

A protein shake will fill you up. Some have a lot of sugar so watch out for that. I wouldnt worry too much about the calories from it. Protein isnt stored as fat. It will also help your muscles recoup after workouts. Your body will get rid of what it doesnt need, kind of like Vitamin C. There are a few high protein snacks that would be very beneficial and filling. Strained tuna (get low sodium and white if possible) Hard boiled eggs, fish etc...

I eat every 2-3hrs once I'm up. My day looks like this.

    6am - up
    6:45 - take phen
    9am - yogurt
    10-11 - special k bar
    12 - lean cuisine
    3 - apple/banana/grapes etc
    6 - dinner

And that's it. Well, water...as much as I can drink in a day. I've never been a big snacker. But some of the things I do snack on when I'm at home...as I don't snack at work...is pretzels, apples or bananas w/peanut butter (had this for dinner before! lol), grapes, prunes (to help w/the side effects. ). If I get a chip craving, I eat baked chips. If I get a sweet craving (ie chocoloate), I make low fat brownies and eat ONE little one. If I want ice cream, I eat frozen yogurt.

No one says you have to eliminate your favorites...just find out if there are healthier options...and be responsible about it. I've had burgers from fast food restaraunts...no cheese, no mayo, no fries...lol...but I still get that yummy burger! OK, and maybe I steal 3 fries. LOL The point is, if you deny yourself...you will end up snacking on everything under the sun trying to 'cure' the craving. And even too much 'healthy' stuff can be bad. EVERYTHING in moderation is key to long term success. Remember, this isn't a diet. It has to be a lifestyle change.

    SuiteLady,
The ricotta snack sounds good Do you just mix it together and eat it? I can't wait to try this!

I am not a big snacker per say. When I do snack I have yogurt, walnuts, almonds, light string cheese and various fruit on hand.

I tend to snack on one or more of the following: apples, bananas, grapes, peaches, pears, popcorn and raw carrots. When my husband and I are traveling (even for just a day trip) we take plenty of fruit with us to snack on. I keep fruit at work. I eat more fruit now than I have ever eaten in my life!!

    Default snacks

I like apples, grapes, bananna, crackers, sometimes a couple slices of sandwich meat, 1/2 cup special K cereal with 1/2-1/4 cup milk. Celery with a little pb.Popcorn doesn't do anything but make me want to eat alot of it so I tend to stay away from that.

I'm an at home mom, so I don't have to worry about convenience. I love scrambled eggs with jalapenos mixed in, for a pm snack!

I'm also an apple w/PB girl. When I want a sweet, it's that.

When I want a savory, one or two Wasa crackers with a little sliced salmon and sometimes cheese, either a wedge or a slice depending what's in stock. For some reason, I find salmon very filling, more filling than any other fish.

I will drink a low sodium V8 or eat a few pieces of lean ham or turkey lunchmeat wrapped in a low-fat slice of swiss cheese. I love the little packages of low-fat cottage cheese. Apples are a great snack for 'on the go'. I usually have a can of almonds ready in case I get a little hungry before my next meal. I hope these ideas help.

KaysKidz, thank you for your interesting post! Now I know what snacks I can add to my daily food-schedule.

Till now I used to snack on bananas and pine-apples. At dinner time I ate a small yogurt and a piece of brownies. I don’t like pure water so I tried to drink apple or orange juice instead. I know it’s not as healthy because all juices have sugar. Still I love sweets so much that I can’t eliminate everything that is so tasty!

I have heard about apples being good together with phentermine but I don’t like them so I eat pears instead. And once a week I make a holiday-dinner ordering pizza with pepperoni and cheese.

A pack of almonds is also a great snack.
