    Good Morning,

I don't think you understood the question and that might have been due to me erasing it...sorry. The question was why would you take Phentermine if you ONLY had 20 lbs to lose not if you were to continue with a weight lost from lets say a 30 BMI since too many were getting hung up on the number.

I have 60 or better if I want to lose to get to a healthy BMI. It would stand to reason that I would not stop taking the Phentermine 20 lbs from goal I would continue with the plan in order to get to goal. I was just curious as to why someone would choose to take a drug that had some serious side effects if they really were not in the obese range and just wanted to fit into their jeans?

    Just a simple question.

Of course it's all about choice and that's anyone's right. I just wanted to ask.

I have more than 20 pounds to lose but alot of women that only have that last 10 or 20pounds to get off have a hard time doing so. Maybe they need a little help with getting it off. I think if their Dr feels that it is ok for them to take it and they feel comfortable taking it why not? If I would have been given phen back when I only needed to lose 20lbs I would have def took it but also changed eating habits and exercise. Everyone loses weight at didn't speeds and sometimes when your smaller it's harder

Just another perspective: I have hypothyroidism (I take 2 grains of Armour per day). My teens and 20's I was about 120 pounds (at 5'5 1/2"). Then my thyroid went out. I jumped up into the 150's. After 5 years of being labeled a "hysterical woman" by docs, I was finally diagnosed and medicated. I lost most of the weight, stabilizing at about 130 where I stayed for quite a long time within a month of going on meds. 2 years ago, my thyroid went out again (I needed and increase in meds, was not going to the doctor like I should have been watching my TSH, t3, t4)...I didn't catch it in time and I put on 15 pounds nearly overnight. I started working out like mad, dieting, etc (but had led a VERY healthy lifestyle even at that point, I ramped it up even more). 2 years later, I have lost 2 pounds only. I started weight watchers recently. After 3 months I took off 2 pounds. My endocrinologist finally agreed that I do everything right and agreed to put me on phentremine. I have only 12-15 pounds (max) to loose. Imagine, 1000-1200 calories a day plus 1-2 hours in the gym for 2 years to drop essentially no weight.
So, from a medical perspective, sometimes women like me need a little help/boost. My beautiful clothing that fills my closet either fits too tight or not at all. It's been a brutal ride for my ego and pocketbook. I just started on Phen and only took half a pill for the past couple of days now. The first day I felt wired, today normal so I might take a whole pill tomorrow.

Question: I seem to have acid reflux since I started on phen, is that normal?

I'm also hypo and I also take 2 grains of Armour and 25 mcg's of Levoxyl. I still didn't lose weight. I'm also taking 2000 mg's of Metformin and now 2 shots of Byetta a day. This is a great reason why someone would turn to Phentermine for 15 lbs. Have you looked into Vitamin D? As for the acid reflux. I haven't had that problem.
