    Default Injections or capsules? (lipotropic)

    Hi everyone

I'm new to the board and have been lurking for a couple of weeks. I started phen last week and originally wanted to do the b12 shots only. Then I talked to the doctor about the lipo b12 injections after reading here. However the price is hefty ($30.00) per combo shot(got one today). They do carry the capsules as well, but I'm not sure if they work the same. I have been searching this forum but haven't found anyone who has done both. I would think the injection weekly is best, but I'm just not sure. A nurse said that I can do the capsules and inject once a month....that sounds pretty fair, but I'd like to get full effects.

I'm currently going to the gym 5x's a week (1-2 hours a day) and logging in my foods on a site. So I'm working hard, but like evryone else, I'd like maximum resluts.

If anyone has some advice r comment about the capsules vs injections I'd like to hear it!

    TIA!

Default B12 shot and B12 Liquid

I started phentermine on 9/14/09. My doctor prescribed 37.5 mg phentermine, 25 mg of hydrochlorothiazide (water pill ) Take both in the morning. Also prescribed Phendimetrazine to take later in the day around 2:00 or 3:00. I also started taking the B12 that you put under your tongue. My doctor said that the B12 shot and liquid is about the same. I am not exactly sure how much of a difference it is but maybe you should try the liquid B12 before sticking with the painful shots.

Monday 9/14/09 I weighed 204 lbs at the doctors office. I went and bought a new scale so that I could be sure that my weight at home would be the same as the doctors office.

Anyhow, I have also started a raw fruit and vegetable diet along with taking the meds.
The first week I lost 10 lbs. The next week I lost 4lbs. I am now on my 3rd week of taking the meds and have actually started taking my meds every other day instead of everyday. Due to the phentermine usually gives me headaches. Today I weigh 184lbs. So within 3 weeks I have already lost 20 lbs.

yeah the b12 shot is a vitamin, nothing to do with lipotropic shots. B12 is good for you and boosts your energy, but doesnt do what a liportropic shot does for you. They combine the b12 and lipo shots for the sake of you not getting 2 separate shots(since theya re both so popular in the weightloss market). I see it being confused all over the net.

I took sublingual b12 forever and it doesnt do squat for me The shot I do notice a big big diff.

Since you posted, I"m also trying to do mostly raw foods, cool eh? I dunno but the phen makes me be able to do that much more than I could without it!

I have heard the lipo shot is painful? Is this true? I've also heard that it can sting. How soon after do you notice the effect? Does it last long? I'm considering doing the lipo shot combo next visit.

Also, thanks for the explanation on the B12 and the diff with the lipotropic shot. Does it have B6 in it too?

I get the lipoden shot I dont' know if thats the same that you ladies are talking about. The shots aren't combined tho where I go I get two. One is the b12 the other the lipoden. Karen I think people say its more painful prolly because it's thick liquid so they do it slow and then you have to massage it.

I have to say that yes it's painful. Not unbearable tho. It's like this with any kind of shot you take really. I do bleed way more than normal when I get this shot and it's sore for days, but I massage it.

I have gotten 3 lip shots so far and I can t ell a difference in how I feel. It makes you sweat like no tomorrow. Even when I clean the house im SO drenched it's insane. When I work out I look like I took a shower when I come out. I'm not sure if it helps with the inches or not, becasue I could be losing inches regardless. If you must know though (lol) I have lost 11.5 inches off my body since I started them. I mean like 11.5 inches total and that's for 2 weeks worth of lip shots cuz I got my 3rd yesterday so I wont see results till next week. Stupid Spark People messed up my stuff so I don't have my original measurements form my first week I only started writing them down on paper the first week I got my lipo shot.

Hey. The shots are not painful at all. It feels no different than any other shot you get. It is not like an antibiotic shot, which is painful!!
Now, I just took my second shot yesterday. My first week taking it, I lost 6 pounds!! I usually am lucky to lose that much in a month. So far, I'm impressed. I would suggest you try the shot one week, then if you like it, continue. If it doesn't help ya, then at least you'll know. Good luck and keep us posted!!!

    Default shots

Thanks for the info Tia, Amber and elemteach: I will do as 'teach' suggested and give the shot a try. My doctor did also inform me that the shots can be painful (and that's why they do it in the butt or hip area). My B12 shot doesn't hurt at all so, I'm really curious to see how this differs.

I'll keep you posted when I get it next thursday!

I just wanted to add that I took my first one in the hip this week! I had been getting them in my arm because well thats where the first nurse stuck them. No pain this time yay and no bruising which was nice because when I was getting it in my arm I had to keep sleeves it looked so bad.

When you get ur shot on t he hip, make sure you completely put all of your weight on the opposite leg and just totally relax the one u are being treated on. This will minimize any pain.

Anyhow, back to the original post. So has anyone taken both the pills nad shot? do they differ much?

I don't know anything about the lipo shot, but do get a b12 weekly & love it. I have noticed quite a few people mention that they take water pills with phen.......my dr has never mentioned this to me before, so at the risk of sounding dumb......what do they do for you?

..sorry I have not but, I am taking a pill called Cell Press. Not that it has anything to do with your original question. I'm taking other vitamins though.

I have not read this whole thread, but I have to point out that what my clinic refers to as B12 shots are really a combination of B12 and “myoden” – or more accurately, adenosine monophosphate (AMP). For more info, go here: http://drericchan.wordpress.com/2008...hats-12-of-it/. Check with your docs/nurses to see if they also include AMP in their shots. Had I not asked, I never would have known.

I get both the B12/AMP and the Lipotropic injections once a week. The B12/AMP can actually be taken twice a week, I just don't have the time and once a weeks seems to be working great for me so far.

Neither shot hurts. I spend $20 for the shots (weekly), $25 for the phen & fluid pills (once a month), and $95 to see the doc (once a month).
