    Unhappy I don't understand

I am so jealous! Some of you have lost 15 pounds in the first week! It's been two weeks, working out everyday, eating healthy (I haven't touched a cookie or a candy bar since I started phen), keeping a calorie journal, I eat less than a 1000 calories a day and it takes forever for me to lose weight! It all came on so fast, with in three months I was 40 pounds heavier, and now it won't go away! I am just sad...but congrats to everyone else! You're doing great!

I can understand why you'd feel discouraged, a couple things come to mind:

You might have an untreated thyroid issue. Have you had yours tested recently? Sometimes you can still have a problem with it even if your test comes back normal and in that case further testing can be done. That and the fact that you put on 40 lbs so quickly seems a little suspect. I'd get it checked out.

Also, sounds like you're not getting enough calories--less than 1000 calories seems low if you are working out every day. Do you know about how many calories you're burning when working out? Maybe try bumping up your calories and see if that makes a difference

I have hoshimotos thyroid syndrome. I am on sythroid and my endo has just gotten it under control. I also have Polycystic ovary syndrome. Those two combined are the reason I gained so fast, that's why she put me on Phen. When I am finished with Phen she is going to put me on medication for the PCS. She just didn't want me taking so much medication I guess. I try to eat more, but if I'm not hungry it's so hard. It almost makes me sick trying to force myself to eat.

That makes a lot more sense now...women with pcos tend to be isulin resistant and do pretty well on a low carb diet--not uber low, but definately restricting simple carbs and getting a high amount of protein. Alykat has a thread called My Low Carb Diet and she lists what she eats and has good info there--a good read if you're interested. My doc actually put me on a low G/I diet, which is pretty similar to Aly's except I completely restrict processed foods with the exception of having a Fiber One Bar daily.

I know it's nauseating to try to eat when you're not hungry--this side effect will soon pass and you will partially get your hunger back, but in the mean time I would try to take a few bites of something. Eating is kind of like stoking a fire to keep it burning b/c you want that metabolism to keep working for you. If your body senses it's not going to get fed for awhile it holds onto everything and goes into survival mode--storing up everything for a famine.

I'm so sorry your stuggling so hard, I dont understand if you have PCOS why they wouldnt give you the meds with phen, there are many other ladies that have come and gone with phen and pcos meds and did really good considering their bodies were able to function properly. I agree that if you are not already on a low carb diet then try and start eating like a type 2 diabetic should, I know that if I dont eat this way for the rest of my life my insulin resistance will get worse and I will end up with type 2 diabetes..so either way I would have to change my diet..just hopefully this way i wont have to stick myself with needles. Your doing great and I know it can be very frustrating, i was on phen for 3 months and lost 24 lbs..where I saw many ppl lose 20 a month bairley working thier butt off as hard as I did..it was frustrating especially when I stalled for 2 months, but I started low carb and I lost weight immedietly..my body cannot handle them so why even bother you know? I would ,maybe ask your doc about them PCOS meds..in all reallity if you take them your body will be burning the right amounts of fat and insulin..therefore you will lose weight..if phen isnt working the meds sure should.

Thanks for taking the time to repsond to my little rant ladies! I will look into the low carb diet and def talk to my endo about the PCOS meds. I figured it must not be healthy to take all the meds at once, but if other people are doing it, I don't see why it would affect me differently. Again thanks so much for your time!
