Default on bontril, wondering if I should switch?

    Hello ladies,
after 10 months of trying to lost post baby weight with just diet and exercise alone and not having great success. I asked my ob/gyn for something to help me suppress my appetite as that is what is my biggest downfall. Whether that was left over from breastfeeding of what I don't know. No matter what I would eat I would still be hungry two hours later.
He put me on 105 mg bontril last month. At 1st it worked really well and I was very excited. I lost 12 lbs in two weeks. Kept us with my exercise and added some weight lifting too.
But than the last two weeks I have only lost 2 lbs! It doesn't seem to suppress my appetite the way it did at first. I get hungry still often the only differnce is I get full very quickly (only get like 1/3-1/2 as much) and I have tons more energy still.

do u think it's just not working for me like it should? is the adipex really stronger and will it suppress my appetite more?

I have been drinking tons of water and I have even added a couple protein shakes to help curb my appetite and up my protein intake.

    any advice would be great
    thanks

I started Bontril back on July 8, 2008 and was on it with minor breaks of 1-5 days until mid-February. By mid-February my weight loss had slowed to a trickle. Couple of onces here and there. Granted I was down over 90 pounds at that point. My doctor switched me to Adipex at the beginning of March. I did not see any change at all and if anything I was hungrier and only lost one or two pounds in the 3 weeks I was on it. Fast forward to mid-March went to see doctor again and she put me back on Bontril. I have lost over 6 pounds in the two weeks since I started Bontril again.

I guess what I am saying is it depends on the person which medicine will work best for you. I was so excited to start Adipex but it did absolutely nothing for me. Apparently Bontril is more agreeable with my body.

Just keep doing what you are doing and you will see results! Good luck!

I know this is a dated post but I thought I would comment for future readers. I took Bontril for about 5 months and lost about 50 lbs, it worked very well for me. My weight loss slowed and I panicked and asked to be switched to Adipex, that was a mistake for me, I had horrible headaches on the Adipex and lost only about 1 lb the whole month. I didn't switch back to Bontril right away but went off of everything completely as I found out I had just become pregnant. I ended up miscarrying and the doc recommended waiting 3-6 months post pregnancy to take anything, said it wouldn't be as effective due to hormone swings, etc. I just started back on Bontril 3 days ago and have lost 7 lbs so far. It feels like it is working just as well as the first time. You have to remember the that generally the closer you get to your goal weight the slower the pounds melt off.
