Thumbs down Anatomically correct 5 pounds of muscle verses 5 pounds of fat.

Sorry, Ladies...It's not meant to depress...it's meant to motivate.

Maybe it doesn't motivate you...but it sure does me. These models run as much as $80. If they were cheaper, I would buy one and put it in my kitchen.

    Here's the comparision......

Wow, that is motivating! It's amazing how different a pound of muscle and a pound of fat looks and how much space it takes up.

I know how difficult it is to see this when you still are far from your goal, but it is really helpful for those who need to understand how compact muscle really is (that would be me).
It's also great to see this because even if you just have lost five pounds, you can see what you've lost and what an accomplishment just five pounds off can be.

    I'm bumping this.

That's incredible. I had no idea there was that much difference. The thing is that when you lose 5 lbs, how do you actually KNOW that it was 5 lbs of FAT that you lost and not just fluids or even muscle?

Fat wobbles. If it's not wobbling anymore, it must be you lost fat? That's my guess. Muscle has a different feel to it than fat. Fat is usually not firm. If you look at those photos of the difference, I think that that's the only way to tell. Now MsMil told me to go to the gym and get my muscle/fat mass calculated. I did. I weight 161 and I have 21% BMI. According to standardize forms I am 27.5% BMI. So figureing out what is what is not easy. You have to have a professional test it.

Here's a scary thought. Every year a women goes over the age of 30 she looses 6% of her lean muscle mass.

So let's say one doing no strengh or resistance training. One maintains her weight but now, 6% of that is fat every year after.

    Now that's a sobering thought.

YIKES!!! Another good reason to stay on Chromium Picolinate. It has been Scientifically proven to help build lean muscle mass. I think it's helping me, too. I'm losing "wobbles" as you called them....I can't believe how much less cellulite I have just since working out at the gym. Sorry, but for those people who say that it's just genetic and you're STUCK with it....I have to disagree. I thought I was stuck with it, but I see it literally "melting" away and it's being replaced with tone. This is after only about 5-6 weeks or so of me working out. I still have a little, but NOTHING like I had 6 months ago. It was literally all the way down to my knees!!! I have almost NONE on my legs now, just a little on the very top backs and sides of my thighs and a small amount on my butt. So, I must be burning it off. YAY!!!

Great demonstration! You are so right. So many people don't realize that muscle is more compact, tightly fitted on the body. I mean, if we can eat a low fat meal plan, drink plenty of water, & exercise 3-5 times a week or at least 30 min. a day, what a diffence it will make. Not only will we lose the weight we want to lose, but we will decrease our chances of osteoporosis (from overweight issues) , lower our cholesterol, lower our chances of Diabetes, heart disease, & the list goes on! So by eating healthy w/appropriate portions & adding some cardio (walking, jogging, eliptical, swimming, etc) we can gain muscle & build strength by adding resistance by weights or going longer distances! Fast foods are the kicker. They are so many locations of fast-food restaurants & the combos are so much larger than they used to be years ago. We gotta make a change.
