    Smile Anyone wanna do this?

Better and tastier than Cabbage Soup Diet!

This woman at work found this in a magazine, and I was going to do it and kept procrastinating, then I FINALLY made it today - because she lost 6 lbs last week (she has been stuck for months) and all you do is eat one bowl of this soup at lunchtime and healthy meals otherwise, and you're supposed to lose at least 5-7 lbs in a week!! I wanna get my body back moving again, it's been stuck like glue!!!

Anyone want to do this with me?? The soup is supposed to taste really good too!!

    Any takers here ya go:

Wow, how does it taste??? Sounds way better AND healthier than the cabbage soup diet. I did that darn thing for 2 weeks about 8 years ago and was in such terrible ketosis and so deprived of protein that I was blacking out, dizzy and could barely walk across the room from being so weak!! Lost the weight, but felt like crap, so this definitely looks much better! That's very interesting about the dairy, too!!! I thought dairy wasn't very good or something because my Dr said to stay away from it. Hmmmm....

I might try this. It acutally sounds really good. You just eat it for lunch once a day? I take it you make the recipe the one time, and it lasts for 7 days. How did it taste.

If anyone wants to do this but doesn't care for the peppers, etc., I have a recipe somewhere that is more of an asian soup with spinach, chicken, tofu, and lots of veggies that works on the same principles. Let me know and I will dig it out. I can't scan it, but will try to type up all the info along with the recipe.

For any of you with constipation issues, I don't know about this recipe, but the asian one will have you in the bathroom twice a day! I'm pretty sure this one will have the same effect.

Yup eat it for lunch everyday... sensible meals (like we already do) otherwise. This recipe makes 7 servings, so yes its for the 7 days.

I liked the soup!! On the spicer side, but nothing I can't handle (NOT a spicy person in the least!!) I can definitely see how the peppers will keep that hunger off, and hot peppers are supposed to boost your metabolism

Increase your metabolism by as much as 40% by using hot and spicey foods such as hot peppers of all varieties and mustards. Research shows these foods all increase your metabolism.

    Default Asian Miracle Soup Diet

This is from a Woman's World Magazine from 2/29/00.

    INFO:
Asian vegetables like water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and broccoli are mostly fiber and water. "we burn nearly as many calories digesting them as they contain," says nutrition doctor Neil Barnard, M.D The spices in it--red pepper ginger--pump up our metabolism by 25% in a fat-burning effect that lasts three hours.

It fills you up and curbs food cravings
Study subjects who sipped soup were less hungry later than those eating solid food. Each cup of this soup has just 87 calories, but a whopping 9g of protein, which steadies blood sugar to curb food cravings. "And protein forces your body to burn calories for fuel," says Carmel Berman Reingold, author of 7 Most Effective Ways to Jump-start your Diet.

    Recipe:
    -1Tbs. peanut oil
-1/4 cup chopped fresh ginger ( I grate it)
    -1/4 cup chopped garlic
-2 containers 32 oz. each. chicken broth
-1/20 cup conrnstarch (I omit this)
-1pkg. (10.5 oz) extra firm tofu cut in 1/4" pieces (I use chicken)
-1 can sliced bamboo shoots, drained
    -1 can mushrooms, drained
    -1/2 cup soy sauce
    -1/4 cup rice wine vinegar
    -1tbs sugar (I omit this)
-1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes
-2 bags (16 oz. each) oriental style frozen vegetables such as broccoli, carrots and water chestnuts
-1lb fresh peeled and deveined or canned shrimp
-1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (I like parsley instead)
-1 pkg. (10 oz) spinach, trimmed and coarsely chopped.

-In a large pot heat oil over medium heat.
-Add ginger and garlic cook until tender 3-4 min
-Combine 1 cup broth w/cornstarch until smooth and add to pot
-Add remaining broth, tofu, mushrooms, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, and pepper flakes
    -Cook until thickened
-Add frozen vegetables, shrimp and cilantro.
-Simmer until shrimp is just opaque, about 10 min
-Add spinach and stir until just wilted

    Makes 20 cups:
    Per Cup:
    87 cal
    9g protein
    2 g fat
    35 mg chol
    9 g carbs
    751 mg sodium
    2 g fiber

I omit cornstarch and sugar and substitute chicken for tofu since I don't like tofu. I substitute parsley for cilantro because I prefer it.

SOOOOOO.... Started this yesterday, this morning I was down 2 or 2.5 lbs (don't remember if I had that 1/2 lb in there yesterday morning).. and that INCLUDED a little Chinese for dinner (bad, I know, but my husband actually bought me takeout!!!!) and a couple slices of Amish Friendship Bread (the devil) late at night.

Now the REAL test will be if I see more loss tomorrow. I've been very strictly 180-184 for over a month, and cannot see 179 for the life of me, so that will be the real test!!!!

wow, does the soup really fill you up though? I eat a full lunch and still get hungry sometimes? Oh the asian soup seems much better in carbs than the other one..by omitting the sugar and cornstarch its that much better. but if the other one works then hell ill still try it.

Here is my experience with this soup: I saw this recipe in a magazine and made it on Monday. I thought the recipe sounded great. It was easy to make. I added extra garlic and jalepeno (I love spicy food!). It tasted great and I was VERY full for the rest of the afternoon. At dinner time, I heated up another bowl. I made it through half the bowl and then the thought hit me 'I cannot eat another bite and I never want to eat this soup again!' I was so disappointed. The soup tasted great when I had the first bowl and was sooooo filling. It was just like when I tried the cabbage soup diet years ago. I ate it twice and then I couldn't force myself to eat anymore. But I say try the soup - you all may love. Just wish I did.

My boyfriend tells me that the asian version is kind of like sweet and sour soup, so if you like that then you'll probably like the asian diet soup too. Just thought I'd give a basis for comparison.

OK so I have a question about this.. I made the recipe today and had some for lunch and realized.. it doesn't tell you how much a serving of it is. It tells you there are 7 servings per recipe but not how much a serving is... anyone know?

I made the recipe last night and cut it in half since I didnt have a big enough stock pot, its a good thing just in case I get bored with it..but it does taste good..I added a few extra seasonings to give it more of a taste but its a lot better than I expected it to be..I start nights tonight and it should serve as a good pick me up in the cold weather.

I so wanna try this. I'll have to do what aly did and half it. I don't have a big enough pot for it. So does this soup make you go to the bathroom a lot?

I plan on going to the store today and getting the ingredients. I might have it for dinner tonight...would that be okay instead of lunch? Just as long as you eat it once a day?

It doesn't give you specifics on when to eat it, but the soup is supposed to keep you full for a long time and keep your metabolism running in high gear, so that's why I'm having it for lunch. I'm sure it doesn't make a huge difference though.

Serving size is 1-1/2 cups. I made the whole thing in one of my regular pots (I do not have a stock pot).
