    Unhappy C-Section Tummy Question???

Question for all of you that have had a c-section...... With my first son, I had to have an emergency c-section and they cut me up and down instead of across. Needless to say, my stomach looks really gross (almost like two little butt cheeks). (I'm sure some of you have to know what I mean) LOL!!!
My question is, if you loose all the weight you need to, will that go away and get flat, or will it always look like this???? I know I would have to have a tummy tuck for it to be perfect, but I'm curious about how much better it can look with diet and exercise alone.

Oh yeah~~ all of you look fantastic in your after pictures!!! Wow, what inspiration!!!

Hey, Ive had 2 csections. I was small before getting pregnant & with the first 1 i gained 89lbs thanks to pre eclampsia..Needless to say, My belly stretched huge & i honestly dont think its possible for it to get back to the way it was = ( Its the worst part about my body now & it used to be the best. I wasnt cut up & down though. it was across which left a huge pooch thing that is gross. I want to cry everytime i look in the mirror. Id also like to know if dieting and exercise helped anyone with this. I work on it everyday & am losing everywhere but there. Once i am down to my goal weight & am maintaing, i am planning on having a tummy tuck.

I didn't have a c-section with my second son, but I did with my third. The last time, they cut me across and now you can't even see that scar. It was just this ugly up and down scar.
I'm sure someone out there knows what I'm talking about. (even it was a friend of yours this happened to). I would love to have a tummy tuck, but I don't think I could ever work it into our budget!!!!

I really would like to know if there is any hope!!!!

    Default hello!

I'm a nurse and have seen many vertical c-section incision scars. From all that I've seen, some people just simple have a line that fades and doesn't look too bad, other get the "butt look" as you described it. I've seen thin women with the "buttlook" and fat people without it. It's my understanding that it is caused by scar tissue, and will not get better when you lose weight.

I'm so sorry, I know it's not the answer you want to hear. I too had an emergency c-section but was fortunate enough to have the horizintal incision. The good news for women is that vertical incisions, even in an emergency, are becoming rare.

I'm sure it was all worth it to have a healthy baby. Maybe somone else can give you better advice or tips to help. Good luck on your journey.

I've had both the vertical and horizontal c-section inscions, the vertical was a result of an emergency c-section as was yours. yeah I know the "butt" look, I do hate it now only I have an upside down cross on my abdomen and skin that won't do anything. I've been told by surgeons, therapists, chiros, you name it that the only way I could ever get that thing flat agian was to have a tummy tuck. Basically Ithink they cut your muscles in half with a verticle as opposed to seperating them when doing a horizontal. i am doing 100 crunches a day in hopes of gaining some firmness....we'll see what happens. I can't afford tummy tuck either so... If you don't mind I do have a question: does your belly button seem deeper now and does it point downward? If you hear of anything that helps please let me know! Good luck
I want healthy organs and to be able to fit into single digit jeans again! Plus loosing wieght may help my fibromyalgia (we'll see)! [

luckily, i was cut horizontally......which wouldn't really matter cus i'd never be caught dead in a bikini at this point, anyway......

however, my mother had a vertical cut (thanks to me) and her scar is noticeable, but her stomach doesn't look bad at all. of course, she's tiny.......but she would wear bikinis all the time and looked good in them. she used to tan a lot, and i think that helped disguise the scar. for some people tanning helps with scars/stretch marks.....for others, it makes them stand out more.

Thanks you guys!!! I didn't figure anything other than a tummy tuck would work. As far as my belly button, it's been so long ago that I don't remember what it was like before!! LOL (it was 23 years ago!!!!)
