Default What happens when you stop taking phen?

I have been on phen for about 3 months now and have lost a good amount. Im worried about when I no longer take it though (I have about 2.5 months of ** left). Im taking a break right now and my appetite is out of control.
My questions is when you stop taking phen do you plan on something else (if so, what) for a while or on lowering your dosage for a while, etc or do you go cold turkey?? Do people normally try a different pill for a bit after phen?

I have asked this question before and got a few different responses. I have not yet stopped phen but as of 12/25 i will have been on it for 3mo. My doctor told me that he will only allow me to stay on it for 3 months so, after this... I don't know. I am hoping that he will give me a break and then put me back on it until i hit my goal weight but, he said that once i hit a healthy weight, i should go it alone. I think i am about 18lbs. away from being on the cusp of "healthy weight" and "over weight." I am a little concerned as to how to come off of it as well. I posted a question titled "How to come off Phen" not too long ago. I'm sure you can search the forum and see how people responded. Most said to check with my doc. which i will be going to on the 17th... I really didn't want to go back to him and pay another 100$ for him to check my BP and tell me he's not giving me another prescription but, I'm hoping that he'll just tell me to start taking half a pill or lower my dosage. I have forgotten my pills at home on a couple of occasions and i felt like a train hit me! My appetite was out of control as well!! So, i don't know but, I'll keep you posted.

My doctor told me that I had to do weight watchers if I wanted her to prescribe me phen. She said that she has given it to patients before and they never adjusted their portion sizes and they didn't learn how to truely eat healthy, and they gain all their weight back. So, she said that i had to do weight watchers with phen so that when i got off phen my body would not go into shock over being hungry because mentally i already would know portion sizes and how much i can eat. She also said that once you take phen, you will most likely never get the same results again if i have to do it again...So just make sure u are following ur life plan...Its a lifestyle change and you have to adapt that to your life Good luck!! Keep us informed!

I have been off of phen going on 11 weeks now....I felt that it had stopped working for me so I decided to stop cold turkey and see how I felt by not taking it....I did experience a lack of energy for about the first week...I upped my workouts at the gym, ate 3 healthy meals and 3 snacks a day and I feel great! I recently had surgery and haven't been released by my doctor yet to workout so I am bummed about that! BUT I haven't gain any weight so that is good news! I might or might not get back on phen...depends how long this recovery road takes.

Listen to your body and maybe instead of spending the $$ to see your doctor, call and ask to speak to his nurse...she may be able to give you some suggestions on how to get off of the phen or what the normal side effects are....good luck!

I've been off Phen since the begining of October. I just stopped. My doctor didn't wean me off or anything. I wanted to also give my body a break and I had stopped losing. The first couple of days I was very, very tired. Some of my cravings came back ( bored on the couch wanting something sweet, ect... ) I didn't eat bigger portions even though I wanted too. I have to log my food into Fitday to make sure I am getting the right calories, carbs, ect... I always have sugar-free hard candy by my couch for when I want something sweet. The "trick" is to find things that you can eat to substitute for what you kinda want. Hopefully the Phen will help you with portion size....it is up to you to make wise food choices. That way when you are off the Phen you have already made it a habit to eat right.

So i did it. I couldn't afford to go back to the doctor for him to ween me off of phen so i had to quit cold turkey. I was tiered for the first 4-7 days but, i'm better now. I still don't have the energy that phen helped me with. My appetite has increased a bit and my water consumption is a little... a lot down! On the plus side though... my smoking has cut down dramatically!!! I was up to almost a pack a day with phen. I don't know why it does that to smokers??? I've put back on 4 pounds in a month but, that's not as bad as i thought it was going to be considering the damage i did at all the Christmas and New Years parties! Anyway, just thought i'd let you know my experience with quitting "cold turkey." Wish me luck on my own... sniff..sniff... i miss my phen... lol
