I started Phen on 1/31/07 @ 244 pounds. 37.5mg. I take them before breakfast each morning.

I have cut out all beverages, drinking only water--and lots of it. (My back teeth are floating.) Virtually no sugars, very little fat, hi-fiber, lo-cal, hi-protein.

I'm not counting exact calories, but I read the label of everything, and due to past diet attempts, know the "approximate" calories in most foods, and look up the rest. I'm trying to stay between 200-400 calories per meal.

Below is a typical day's diet.

    Pre-Breakfast: 8 oz water
Breakfast: One serving oatmeal, small apple
    Pre-Lunch: 16 oz water
Lunch: Medium salad w/ grilled chicken
    Afternoon: 16 oz water
Supper: Small portions of normal meal, no
    bread, no potatoes, veggies, lean
    meat
Evening: 16 oz water, maybe pop corn
    or small apple if hungry

The menu varies somewhat, but I stay within these basic types and portion sizes of food. The phentermine helps, and I can tell it is working with respect to energy boost and controlling my appetite...but what gives?

I'm 12 days into this and have only lost 5 pounds.

I don't want to cut back on calories any more, don't want to go into starvation mode...or am I already there?? (Usually eat between 800-1400/day.)

Any ideas on how I could see faster results?

    Thanks for listening!

Ok Fightin, me and you started the pill the exact same day, but you are smaller than me....how tall are u? and you seemed to be doing everything right,BUT I didnt see you mention EXERCISE.......are u putting some of that in in your weekly routine? Cuz you definitely have the eating and the water drinking down packed!!! lol
If you aren't exercising then that might be the problem.....

I am 5' 9". I put SW of 240 because that is what my scale says...although my official weigh in at the doctor's office on the 31st says 244. I figured I'd go by my scales since I could check in more often...which is driving me nuts because I get on it every freaking time I go to the bathroom.

Exercise...its hit or miss. I can see the treadmill right now...I should unplug and go get on. But it keeps me up later than the phen alone does...or do I say "screw it" and just jump on and worry about sleep later?

I have a relatively sedentary job, but I have the typical chasing two kids around, cleaning, typical household things. In the last week, I have been on the treadmill twice. Probably not enough. I should dig out my old Slim in Six Beach body stuff and give it a whirl again.

I think the biggest stopper is waking up at 4:30am to have time to do it before the hubby and kids wake up.

My doctor has already planned to give me two more months of phen before we start the weaning...this is my first time with phen. I guess I need to make the most of it and get in some more exercise.

Thanks for the advice. If anyone else has any suggestions of what I can do to improve my diet, water intake, etc. I'd appreciate it. I have been reading older posts and see eating more often suggested a lot. Any suggestions on good lo-cal "between meal" snacks?

And has anyone tried that new Protein Water (I can't remember the brand...Special K maybe??)

Yea Fightin, you need to put that scale under the bed and take it out only once a week!!! lol You know I've been reading and they say if you are overweight then you should drink more than 64oz of water, so do maybe 8oz more or hell try as much as u can take....! Since you have a family and its just me that I have to take care of, you are waaayyyy more active than me or you should be atleast...
Im not very good with excercise equipment. Its very boring to me I have to excercise outdoors to enjoy it, cuz when im on the machine all im looking at is the stupid timer....but when im outside Im thinking of how many more laps around I have to go...

I'm new to all of this but started on phen just this past Saturday and wanted to find out more about the drug he ** for me....I just came across this sight. How long have you been on phen? And if i may ask, how much have you lost so far. I am a stay at home Mom with a 4 year old and a 11yr old. When i read that you are home, 2 kids, owner of slim in 6 as I am anddd just made myself get on the treadmill for the first time since Jan. 25 th, I had to meet you!
All the above and we have the same red haired vixen as our icon! I went to the store and bought a 32 ounce bottle of "Figi" bottled water and I refill it constantly and loved the image on the bottle. About the snacking, I don't know if you are on a specific type of diet, but to keep from getting "sour stomach", I've been having small helpings of protien...those string cheese mozzie sticks or a slice of deli chicken breast. It makes me feel jumped started and not unsettling on my stomach. Today is day three(feb.12 monday) and when i weighed on Sunday am and lost 3 lbs my first day, I started to cry with relief, joy and hope that this might actually work for me. I am also constantly on the scale, like 8 times in 3 days!! Partly to keep proving to myself that it's working and partly because I'm truly TERRIFIED it will just stop coming off like all the other attempts before. Sorry this is so much info but I wanted to let you know I was out here with you Fightin_w8.

to cheer you up walking with a baby 302 calories cleanin the house (general) burns 315 calories, heavy(388) cjildcare(kneeling playing feeding dressing=325 calories if you do all that which us moms do you burn 1,015 calories before you even worked out... my favorite way to burn calories is to turn on the radio make sure nobody is looking and jump around like acrazy person,,,,, 600 calories the same as turbo jam without the required coordination,,,,, mow your lawn thats 470 cal so if you dont have time for the gym( or a babysitter ) then do dumbell lifts with spaghetti sauce jars i do yeah its silly but the treadmill is a long walk to nowhere so what the diff good luck

Thanks everyone for your support, ideas, and advice! And I don't know what happened between last night and the same time tonight...but the scales are down another 5 pounds!!! Tomorrow is my official 2 week mark, so 10 pounds. I'm not too disappointed now!! I really can't see the difference, and my clothes feel slightly baggier...but don't really feel lighter. Just "less fat", if that makes sense. Probably from the better eating and water.

I do wish that my only job was taking care of the house and kids, I think that exercise would be easier to squeeze in during nap time. (All you stay at home mom's can correct me if I'm wrong. I've got a full time job to contend with...so the getting up at 4:30 and exercising before kids get up (and then getting them all ready and dropped off at sitters and school)...sure you all know how it is...then getting home, getting everything settled, dinner, homework...really by the time the kids are in bed...I just want to decompress and relax and play internet scrabble. Haha!

But, I am pretty darn pumped about the 10 pounds off, I've psyched myself up for treadmill and some slim in six in the AM. Wish me luck..

I will bump up my water, too. I was reading in some post about the 32 oz in morning, at noon, and in evening...I'll shoot for that. (Seriously, though, I have such a dry mouth since being on Phen that I constantly have a bottle of water in my hand.)

Thanks again everyone, and I wish you all continued success as well! Oh, and Fly to Paris...for protein, try the South Beach protein bars. Picked some up today, they are good! (And also helps with my sweet tooth.)

Hi fighting...just reading up on some posts, i'm getting ready to start phen, WHEN IT GETS HERE!! hopefully tomorrow, ups tracker says tomorrow! anyhow, your post..you were talking about night time exercise, mistake....big time...when you exercise at night it is more likely to keep you up, I didn't know this for a long long time, and I myself used to walk my old neighborhood at night, now, i work out in the mornings, 20-30 min. you have young children, i used to get on the floor with mine and lay on my back and lift them up with my feet, sounds funny, but worked my legs, thighs especially and hips...of course my son was a hefty baby...now, when i start my phen, my floor workout will consist of 20 min of pilates while i watch my weekly shows. you'd be amazed how much pilates can tone and shrink some inches, let alone just make you feel good about an easy 20 min workout, i say easy, some of the stuff hurts them muscles, but a good kind of hurt! so, just putting in my 2 cents worth, wish me luck on mine, i wish you the best on yours!!

    Happy Losing!

I'm just going to try to squeeze in exercise whenever I can. I know a schedule is best, but something every day is better than nothing, right?

I did manage to get a rousing walk on the tread mill in after supper tonight...30 minutes, arms pumping, woo hoo.. ...but now I'm friggin' WIRED. Haha! Oh well, its worth it...I will trade a few hours of sleep for some extra pounds off of my booty any day.

One thing about dieting and that everyone seem to miss is how often you are eating. Three meals is fine but if you want to get the metabolism really cranked up you have to eat six times a day. In between breakfast lunch and dinner you should have a small snack. Last Jan ('06) I was weighing 167 pounds. I started phen Jan 7th and was 33 pounds lighter by By the end of March. I ate all day up until 6pm. I ate ALOT of fruit/vegetables and really got hooked on watermelon. I dranked between 60 to 100oz of water daily. I had crazy dry-mouthed but that was an indication to me that it was working and that my body was in constant Ketosis.

Well, a year later I've only gained about 5pds of the 33 I've lost and I guess that's due to the weather. I haven't worked out since it got cold. Come to think of it, I didn't work out when I was taking phen I just dropped the weight.

So the trick is six small meals a day, lots of water and fruit with water content. Exercise I am sure will really speed up the weight loss. I decided not to workout b/c I usually gain muscle which would seem like you are not losing when you really do b/c muscle weighs more than fat.

I've decided to get back on phen to lose about 10 to 15 more pounds and this time I am going to run and do the eliptical machine. This usually give me killer legs and a fabulous waistline.
Hopefully these pills that I ordered online are the real deal. Just waiting for the pharmacy to ship them.

Oh yeah, my cousin started phen the second week of January '07 and to date she has lost about 25 pounds. She is taking the blue capsules 30 mg.
I told her what I did to jump start my weight loss and it looks like it is working for her.

I'm a scale watcher too, and follow a similar diet similar to Fightin_w8. I started Phen 1-3-07. I took a week off last week because the appetite effects were fading and started again yesterday.

Anyway, I dropped 15 pounds in 2 1/2 weeks and then froze at 225 for a week. I added in exercise by joining the local Y. I do ellipitcal and circuit training on alternate days, 5x a week. I'm loving it, but I plateaued on the scale. Then I realized DUH! I am losing inches. I measure every week and I am truly losing weight.

Then I lost 2.2 pounds and froze there for 10 days. I think I'm finally going to break 220 tommorrow. Anyway, it's laste - but my points are:

    1. Give the tape measure as much credit as the scale.

    2. When you make huge changes, sometimes you body goes into "Stubborn Metabolsim/Hold Every Drop of Water" mode, a technical term I just made up. But it's true.

    3. One side effect of Phen is constipation. I noticed it after the firt week or so with phen...Elvis was not leaving the building, or at least not as often. That will mess up the scale's report, and make you feel yucky. Add a fiber cleanser and "slim tea" which has senna in it to your routine. Trust me. I wrote a whole thread on this - I think they moved it to the "Obesity and Other Illnesses" forum. It's called Constipation No More, Read for a True Fix.

Because this is day 2 on phen I am wired. I've been up since 5 and it's going on midnight. I know I can solve this with Benadryl, I'm just starting to feel like a junkie taking a pill to diet, supplements to help, vitamins to stay healthy, water pills to pee, fiber to poop, and Benadryl to sleep. Man.

I think I'm getting this whole thing figured out! I added the SBDiet protein bars this week for my mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. Alternating with apples. And..after reading the Dr. Natura post, went and bought a "version" from Wal Mart...

Started taking the fiber pills, etc. tonight...we'll see how it goes.

I've also bumped up my water to a gallon (or more) a day. I know that I refilled my 20 oz water bottle atleast 10 times at work, plus the water at home. I CRAVE WATER.

Plus, hitting the tread mill. Might be walking to no where, but I know that with the help of all of you wonderful people on this forum, and your experiences and advice... the fat is going away!!!!!
