Hey guys...haven't been on in a while. I just had a question...I've been on phentermine for two months now...I've only lost about 12 pounds! Gosh..that seems really slow to me. Is that normal or no?

join the crowd, I started Phen on 2-19-07 and as of today I have only lost 12 pounds also, I am stuck I can't seen to get past that 12 pound mark. I dont think it is normal, but I guess until we figure out what we are doing wrong, we will have to deal with it. Good Luck to you

any loss is good, try to remember that..... and they say losing to fast isn't good.. so you are still okay, just taking a litle longer than what you see here. I would LOVE to be 12 lbs lighter!

thanks to both of you. i guess i just expected it to be a lot faster than it's been. needsupport i am also completely stuck! i don't know what the deal is.?? i do drink quite a bit of caffeine during the day, which i've heard can slow down the process, but i don't know for sure. do you drink caffeine needsupport?? i'm not sure what else i could be doing wrong.

I started taking phen in September last year and by mid December, had lost 13 lbs. Like you, I was a bit disappointed b'cos I expected to lose more. But LeahAnnnn said, any loss is good. 12 lbs in 2 months is definitely something to be proud of.

I must admit though - I thought that phen was like a miracle pill and only realised later that I have to do some work as well. When I was on phen, I was guilty of not watching my carb intake, not working out enough and not drinking enough water.

hey Newby,
Doctors recommend losing 1-2 pounds per week. Anything more than 8-10 pounds per month is deemed unsafe by doctors. They have done studies that show it may cause heart problems if you lose more than you should...quicker.

Remember. You didn't gain all your weight overnight and it isn't going to come off that way either. Take your time. Keep healthy and you will be fine. Be patient and you will be at your goal in no time. Good luck

congrats on your weight loss.. 12 pounds is a great number to loose. keep your head up high, you are ding a great job.

Slower weight loss is much better than fast weight loss and at least it is weight loss not weight gain. My average weight loss was 5 lbs/month but I met my goal. Stick with it and do not get frustrated it will come off!

newbyboobie(what a funny name)LOL. I have cut back on all caffeine, even chocolate. I have HEARD and I dont know if this is true, But caffeine has an interaction with phen and causes' it not to work as well. LIke I said I dont know if that is true or not, so dont quote me on it. I dont know what the problem is I only have about 800-1000 calories a day, I dont get to exercise alot cause my husband works until 8 or 9 pm every day and we have a set of twins that are 3, so working out is hard for me to do. I am a stay at home mom, but I have heard that just doing housework helps you burn calories, and beleive me I do lots of house work.LOL. Well good luck to you newby and please keep me posted on how things are going.

needsupport - you need more calories. You won't loose any weight by eating the amount you do. Your body will go into starvation mode and store the fat and take its nutrients from muscle. Up your caloric intake to between 1000 - 1200 per day and the weight will start coming off again. With phen you actually have to eat to loose and yes you have to force yourself I know but you have to do it.

thanks kim. It is SO hard but I will try I am thinking about stoping the slimfast for dinner and having a small sensible meal. Mabey this will work. I hope anyway

If there is anyway you can get 6 small meals in a day it is better for you. Trust me, I know it is hard to do that or to eat at all because you are simply not hungry, but make yourself and you will see bigger rewards!

I just started Phentermine yesterday, and I am positive it will work. One thing I know for sure is weight loss is based on a simple mathematic formula, Calories in - Calories out = Weight loss or Weight gain. It takes 3,500 calories to loose or gain 1 pound. One thing to watch is many people drink their calories, alcohol, non-diet pop/energy drinks/fancy coffees. They DO count as calories. A person can eat 1,000 calories, but then drink 4 alcoholic beverages and voila, up to 2,000 calories. Or just one fancy coffee from Caribou will add up to 500 calories.

Wish me well. My weight gain was slow 30 lbs over 2 1/2 years. When I meet my husband I was a lovely 115-120 lbs. But after falling in love I have gained 25-30 lbs. Love made me lazy. But now our love is more relaxed and I am very optimistic about my future weight loss. But, I do like my wine and margarita's! That was part of my weight gain problem.

Height 5'3"
BW - 145 (4-13-07)
CW - 143 (4-14-07)

Wish me well! I am starting at the highest dosage 37.5 mgs. Yesterday I was a bit nervous and hyper, but well worth it. My appetite was WAY down, and I still had my two margarita’s at happy hour.

I have be on phen since April 2 almost 2 weeks and I only lost 4.5 lbs. I too thought I would loose more. Im ok with it because It is normally very difficult for me to loose weight but these are some of the thing I did that I think will help in the long run.
Instead of drinking 10 cups of coffee I have 2. I eat several times a day even though they are small amounts.
I do have to consciously make an effort not to eat bread, especially bagles, or junk food because I want to totally change my eating habits.
If I want a cookie I will have 1/2 if I really want cake I will have a tiny slice but my diet is largely comprised of Vegetables. Grilled,and salads of all types with 1/2 the dressing. I am drinking about a gallon of water a day (my poor car is filled with empty water bottles) and although I enjoy coctail hour every evening i did give it up and only have my coctails on the weekend.
