Yes, my friends want me to do a metric century (62 miles) w/ them in October, I don't believe I'll be able to because of a prior commitment, but I'm still training for it. It's in Solvang and should be beautiful. MY goal would be to eventually do a century (which is a 100 miles) but I've got a ways to go before that happens!
I honestly think my favorite part of the day was getting looks from serious cyclists of "WTF?" and then nods of respect or waves or thumbs up when they realized I really was at 1400 feet in elevation and the only way I could be there was by pedaling my @$$ up there

. There is a definite elitism among road cyclists and when they see me on the road closer to home, I get a lot more dirty...condescending? looks from the "roadies." I can't tell you how many times I've seen them wave at someone they perceive to be a "serious" cyclist in front of me, and then look at me with a look of disdain, as though I'm taking up space on their precious bikeways.
LOL, I even passed an older hiker who said to me," You go girl, do your thang!" that was funny. I was breathing pretty hard at the time as it was near the summit, but it was funny. MY BF reminds me all the time, that cyclists aren't used to seeing "teapots on bicycles." That I'm unusual sight to them, but still they don't know whether I'm only riding 2 miles or 20 miles when I'm out and their ability to pre-judge is amazing... I'd love to do a long bike ride just to show those guys you don't need to be a size 0 to be able to ride!
