hi i was just prescribed phentermine by my doctor, and i have not taken i
yet, bcuz im scared that it will make my feel wired!! i use to be a crystal
meth addict and i don't want to feel the same way i did when i was on it.
can any one help? advice? does it make you feel paranoid? not let u sleep?, and all that other side effects meth gives you??

You probably shouldn't be taking phentermine if you have a history of a meth addiction, but that is you and your dr's decision....Other than that.... I don't think it makes you feel anything like meth. I've had my experiences with drugs, but wasn't an addict per se. I felt a lil wired my first few days, but it doesn't last. After that I just don't feel tired during the day like I normally would...No naps really needed. Some people expereience insomnia like meth...But I didn't really. I prolly COULD stay awake for a few days, but if I just lay down and tell myself I need to sleep, it's not very difficult. I didn't personally experience any paranoia either. My advice would be to take it for a few days and see how you handle it. What dose were you prescibed? How long have you been clean?

does your doctor know that you have had a meth addiction in the past? I have heard the effects are similar and dangerous for former addicts to try.

I have also been told that you shouldn't take Phen if you have been addicted to meth or any other drug

Phentermine is an amphetamine so I do not think it's a good idea to take this type of weight loss drug. You should inform your doctor of your previous addictions and maybe he can work with you to try something else. I was even told that if I was to take a drug test, that I would come back positive for amphetamines.

If that doctor knew you were once addicted to meth he shouldn't have prescribed it for you...You more than
likely will experience the same effects that you experienced your first few times doing meth...which in return will make you want that sensation of meth again..

If you want to stay clean from drugs then this is not the diet pill for you...
I've heard but I don't know how true it is that docs give Meridia and one other
diet pill to recovering addicts...like I said tho, I don't know that to be fact but
it's worth asking about...

I took a hair sample type drug test for work (supposed to be the best way to test) and it did not show up on the test.

I agree with what everyone else is saying.. your doc should know about your past drug addictions. If you feel like you might get addicted, then dont start taking them..... But on the other hand.., if you feel you are over that part of your life and you no longer crave the drugs..... maybe just take 1/2 of the pill. I have been taking 1/2 and I haven't had any insomina or any side effects except dry mouth. But if you have ANY doubts in your mind about it... dont take it.

just as info - if you do some searches on this site, you will find in months / years past .. several people that have had your experiences or similar.
