Hi Raquel. I am totally in the same position as you are. I have an HMO and my doctor does not believe in weight loss aids. The just want you to have the weight-loss surgery. This upsets me because I am not a candidate (I would not have it anyways - I am tired of having surgerys). I went to an outside endocrinologist to get my thyroid meds since, even though my TSH levels showed I needed thyroid meds, my doctor would not issue them. Of course I feel much better now but I do not know what to do when I have to go back to my reg. doctor. I am thinking about switching doctors because honestly, I should have a doctor that listens to me.
I would really like a doctor I can be honest with and is concerned about my health. Funny how they constantly advertise about the dangers of obesity but do not do anything to help you! Please let us know how it goes.

Or, you could tell him that your OB doctor (or whatever other doctor you choose) actually suggested it to you for weight loss and you accepted. That way it isn't your fault and he can't blame you. LOL

So here's the rest of the story!

Went today - weighed 203 on his scale which is always higher than mine AND it's TOM so I'm not sweating it.

He didn't do labs - he didn't ask me what I was taking (in addition to the 2 scripts I had in front of him for refills)

He didn't notice the weight loss.

He did say - he wanted to do labs on me - like I mentioned before, he does this stuff a lot, so he gave me 2 wks notice and told me to be back on the 3rd.
Also scheduled me for a mammo - lucky me.

Other than that - not a worry, not a hitch, we just sat there - chatted about current events and he sent me on my merry way.

My worry was in haste - almost ALWAYS the way it is ... :::::::: shrug :::::::::::;

Or, you could always tell him if it does show up that your friend was taking it and you wanted to try a couple to see how they worked, but you didn't like them so you're done. Is that legal??? I know a bunch of our patients take their friend's, wive's, husband's pills!!
