DOES ANYONE HAVE AN IUD AND IF SO DID U GAIN WEIGHT WHEN U GOT IT. IM THINKING OF GETTING ONE BUT I DONT KNOW ANYONE WHO HAS ONE.

funny you should ask. I had Mirena for about a year and I gained weight while on it. ( Not saying it was the IUD cause I got it right before the holidays) I had mine changed to the paraguard cause i was having other problems with the Mirena. Having break through bleeding after a 14 day peroid. Lets hope this one works better than the last one. I will have to say that I really only spotted durning peroid and I loved that

Yup I had one and there was no weight gain at all. I've been on them all. The only ones that didn't make me gain was iud and NuvaRing

I've had a couple, with one I had severe cramps and bleeding, the next one fell out...
that kinda freaked me out

I didn't have any weight gain but it just wasn't for me.... I would get nooo periods but the worst cramps EVER!!!!
I did find that i messed my with my overall hormones and i didn't feel myself but not quite sure if that was the cause since i just found out i have PCOS.

I have had the Mirnea since March 2008 and love it! I have not gained weight or had any problems with it!

THANKS EVERYONE FOR YOUR REPLIES. I AM GETTING THE MARINA IUD AFTER MY NEXT PERIOD. ON PHEN GOD KNOWS WHEN THAT WILL BE LOL.

I have Mirena. It was put in December 2006 and I have no problems at all. I didn't gain anything after it was inserted. I have lost my weight while using Mirena.

Warning, unless you have recently had a baby, having the IUD inserted is painful! Make sure you take plenty of Ibuprofen the day you go to have it inserted. They have to dilate your cervix and unless it was recently dilated during childbirth, it is painful. Just PM NikkiFinn and she will tell you all about it!

YES I WAS TOLD BYE THE NURSE THAT IT WAS VERY PAINFULL. I HAVE 800MG MOTRIN FOR MY BACK THINK ILL TAKE 2 AN HR BEFORE.

HOW LONG DID IT HURT AFTER IT WAS IMPLANTED

I've had my mirena for about 2 years. That thing was a miracle for me! I beld for oh about 7 mos straight before I got it! After D&C's, the shot (made it worse) and many rounds of BCP's I opted for it and have LOVED it ever since. I have had ZERO issues. Low hormones and no weight gain. It hasn't moved since being put in. I had mine put in about a year after having Livvy and it hurt like an SOB. Like the hardest contraction during childbirth. He told me to take a deep breath and let it out, when I let it out, he put it in. I yelped then it was over. I cramped on and off the rest of the day but was 100% fine by the next morning.

I believe the reason you gain weight while on birth control is because of the hormones...dont quote me, anyways Mirena has hormones so maybe you might. I am on the copper IUD which is a 10 year one and it has no hormones.....I gained weight but not because of it.....i eat pizza like 3 times a weeks!!!
