Smile new here

Hi I haven't started taking phen yet. I have an appt on the 31st of this month. I haven't weighed myself in about a year and a half at least and I think it was around 240. I am a stay at home mom right now and just moved to tulsa and I don't know anyone. We have only one car and my husband takes it to work. I have been so depressed for a long time and haven't had insurance to even see a counselor. The insurance from my hubby's work is finally going to be affordable and they offer free counseling! I am so excited about this and I can't wait to start feeling better! In the past couple years i have tried a few times to lose weight but not with any kind of help. I have always started off so strong and determined and ready to excersize and eat healthy and the fact that I stay home (especially the fact that it's 95 here every day) makes it hard for me to stay motivated about excersizing and eating well. It's like I am trying so hard to do good that i obsess over everything I put in my mouth. Especially because i know that i have to eat a lot through the day to speed up my metabolism and to keep energy. I was hoping some I could get some ideas for good and easy things to eat during the day and and maybe some excersize that i can do at home that are fun and motivating.
I am starting this with no motivation at all. I am just doing it hoping it will come later. I am so done being fat like this and more than anything I have to get out of the rut I'm in. I can't live like this anymore. Anyway I don't want people to feel pity or feel sorry for me I just want to know if there have been others who have felt as low as I feel and what they did to get out of it.
Thanks in advance and i look forward to getting to know u guys!

Hello,
WELCOME!!!! Some easy eating well items I always have in my house are: oatmeal, 90 second uncle ben's brown rice, bird's eye microwave frozen veggies, fruit, pre-packaged salad, salsa, lots of skinless boneless chicke breast & I can not live without my george Foreman Grill. I can make a healthy delicious dinner in under 15 minutes without turning on the stove. YEAH!!!!
As far as working out at home I LOVE TAE-BO & THE BIGGEST LOSE DVD. If you have comcast cable they offer these free with on demand. If you don't or can't get this I have a good homemade workout. all you need is a jump rope, steps and you.
Warm up jump rope as long as you can. At first it might not be that long jumping rope is hard as H**L
Then do lunges try 3 sets ot 10 at first
Then do step ups for as long as you can, all this is the stepping up one step and coming back down (all excercises can be googled for complete directions u-tube has brilliant excercise instruction)
do squats 3 sets of 10
Jump rope again
Try to repeat this cycle three time. It will be hard as h**l at first but you can do it.
Good Luck!!!! Keep me posted.

Hi ssingergrl! Welcome! think we have all been there before as far as being fed up with the way we look. First and foremost you have to commit to losing weight, and understand that it is a process. Just like with anything you have to work at it

I just got a point where I was like "I'm fed up and am going to something about my weight" It's easy to sit around and feel sorry for yourself, but it takes determination and will power to change your situation, and thats with any situation. Right now I am at a horrible plateau, but what's different about this time around is that I am not going to give up, I know that if I keep at it, the weight will eventually come off. It's all in your mind state. Now I'm not saying get out and run a marathon LOL, just take baby steps and before you know it the weight will come flying off, and you will start to feel good about yourself.

As far as easy things to make, salads, diced fruits, clear soups are all pretty easy. I like Smart Ones, Lean Cuisine and Healthy Choice frozen dinners, but be careful with the sodium thats in them

Anyway good luck with your appt this month, I hope all goes well. Remember try to keep a positive attitude

Welcome ssingergrl!

Oh we are not going to feel sorry for you, we are going to get your buns into shape!! We are here to support you, to motivate you and encourage you all the way. Your post was especially heartwarming to me because of a similar life I lead...depressed and ready to make a change. Applaud yourself for taking control of the things you can change. I began counseling which helped me to analyzed my behaviors as it pertained to my misuse of food and I'm being treated for depression. Counselor will be a good help in getting you out of the emotional rut. In the past, I would start off fast and furious with my workout regimen and then lose momentum. I know this forum will help me stay on track with setting realistic exercise and weight loss goals. As for motivation, continue to read through the threads and you'll see that you are not alone in your struggles and you can succeed just like everyone else. When I was at home with my children, I used workout videos. You can sometimes find those at your local library. My son weighs 19lbs and I would (and still) use him as weights!! I would put him on my knees and do leg lifts while lying on the floor or lift him slowly to workout my arms. He would crack up! I would put on music and dance with my daughter for cardio. Now that was fun! I centered my at home exercises around my children. My daughter is in ballet and I help her practice by learning her routines, which are a tons of squats & plies!! I strolled my son in the park for his naptime.

As for snacks, try nuts, fruits (watermelon, melons are H20 producing fruits), fat-free and low-fat energy foods (check online for examples) and plenty of H20!!! Oh, and try jumping in on a Challenge Group! They are awesome!! Just to be real, I too still have bad days. Just yesterday I was down because I lost only 1lbs in a week. I was dissappointed because I busted my butt at the gym but instead of slipping back into my emotional eating, I went to the gym last night and I felt good! So honey, YOU CAN DO IT!! We are behing you 100% Get a journal, write down your goals, your exercise routine, EVERYTHING you eat, your thoughts, your fears everything needed to be the BEST YOU CAN BE!! Keep us posted!

I just learned how to see the responses to my messages sorry im a little slow. Anyway thanks for the support and ideas. I really think if I can get on here at least a couple times a week that i can stay motivated. Hearing the success stories and especially the support from everyone is definately something that inspires me! I can't wait until i can add before and after pics. I also think that just deciding to make a change like this makes me feel a lot better about myself and keeps me focused on reaching all the goals I have for my life.
Thanks everyone!

Quit wanting and start doin!
