Unhappy Fish for Fish Haters??
If anyone out there hates seafood, but has found a type of fish they can stand to eat or cook a certain way so that they can get the health benefits can you PLEEEEASE share it with me?? People who like fish say, "Oh, try this, it doesn't taste fishy at all!!" But to someone who hates fish it still tastes fishy

Have you tried tilapia. I am not real big on fish either. But I do like tilapia. I season mine with fresh lemon, salt, and black pepper, and then grill on my cooktop. Yummy!

Garlic and Lemon are two of the best ingredient to reduce fish flavor. Tilapia is good, so is Halibut and White Fish. I hated fish too, and didn't know how to prepare it so when in restaurants that had it, I never knew what to order so I would go with steak as they are usually around the same price!

I had 4 friends who love fish go w/ me to a seafood restaurant and I ordered something I could stand and they each ordered something they liked and thought I would like and let me taste their dishes! This was helpful for me! Also, down the street from me is something called the California Fish Grille which has been great! Because they aren't a super fancy restaurant, more fast casual that grills fish and they have daily specials less than $10 so I've been able to try that too. Maybe there's something similar near you?

mahi. I don't cook fish though and I definitely like all fish, but mahi is by far the least fishy tasting fish out there. you can do a lot with spices on mahi. You may also see it called dolphin I think, but its dolphin the fish, not dolphin like flipper. hugely popular in the florida keys.

well, i love fish so i don't know, but what about tuna? tuna, miracle whip, and pickles on wheat bread or crackers is awesome! i lost most of my weight by eating a lot of tuna.

I like fish, so I don't know that this will work for you... but if you go to http://www.kraftfoods.com/kf/recipes...er-104492.aspx it is an awsome recipe for teriyaki salmon. My family loved it. They thought I got take-out from a restaurant.

Okay so if you don't like fish....why not take the fish oil pills? It gives you the omega 3's that these fish have.

I'm not a big fish eater, but I LOVE salmon and I like tuna. My favorite way to have salmon is from a japanese steakhouse. OMG good. But I cannot cook the stuff to save my life. I HATE it when I cook it. I think your best bet is to try different kinds for yourself just to see. And if you are going to do it at home, by fresh, not frozen. It's a lot better.

Thanks so much for all of your suggestions everyone!! And I have tried doing the pill thing, a few times. Even the enteric coated ones that supposedly don't make you burp up the taste later didn't do the trick. I still was burping up nasty fish oil taste! I figure maybe it's better to eat a little of something I don't like and be done with it rather than either not get the health benefits or burp it up for hours, eww!!

about the burping ... I get the same thing with vitamins , ugh, oh god nasty and then I want to puke.

Soooooooo the cure I've found that works for me ... is I take them before bed. No more burping.

I like swordfish, it almost tastes like steak, very meaty! Especially delicious when it is grilled.
and I always add lemon to my fish-tastes better.

I read in the first magazine that you can freeze them to keep the burping fish from happening. It says it'll be out of your stomach before you can burp it! I don't have that problem with mine and they aren't even the ones that don't smell like fish either. I guess I'm just lucky!!

So maybe try freezing them!

What brand of pills do you use? I'm not quite sure I understand why freezing them is supposed to help? Taking them at night is a great idea too! Thanks again everyone for your advice. I tried Tilapia tonight marinated in some spicy southwestern thing...ugh...I didn't gag so that was good but I couldn't make myself eat it. I gave mine to my 4 year old son.
