Thread: Finally found the secret!!!!!

    This is week three and I hadn't felt any effects from the phentermine at all. However, I'm determined and was not about to give up.

    I have read so many postings to try to find out what I might be doing that could be the problem. I found two things.

    First of all, I have to take it one hour prior to any food. 30 minutes is just not enough time for me. At the hour mark, I feel the beauty of energy and although I am not hungry, I still eat breakfast.

    Secondly, so many people said not to drink diet coke near phen taking time. I didn't want to believe the two could be related, but alas, they must be. I stopped drinking my glass of diet coke in the a.m. and only drink water until I eat. And I only allow myself one diet coke a day and that's at dinner.

    I can't believe the difference. It was like a switch. I feel energized, have zero cravings and although could go without eating, I am eating healthy without feeling like I'm missing something!

    Although I lost 10 lbs without the full effects of the phen, I am looking forward to seeing my journey now progress as I had hoped. I know they'll be ups and downs still, but I'm excited that I hadn't wasted my money.

    Im back at this agian....I just had a little boy on 1/14/08 and now need to get this pregnancy weight off I have lost 27lbs so far since giving birth but have a whole lot more to go.

    Hi sarah!

    For me, I have found that taking it at about noon or 1 pm is best. I have problems with dinnertime and beyond. When I took it in the morning, it was worn off by the evening. So, I now eat a small breakfast (1/2 cup egg beaters and 1 piece ezekiel bread OR 1/2 cup fiber one with blueberrie and skim milk) and then I work out (weights and cardio) and drink a protein shake (at abou 10:30 a.m.) THEN, at about 1 pm, I take my phen. This has been working well for me. I agree, you need at least an hour for it to start affecting you.

    Oh, also, one day, in the afternoon, I drank some iced coffee. While it perked me up initially, I think it made the phen wear off quicker, if that is possible. I am now caffeine free.

    You are doing great so far...keep it up!

    is it ok if i have gatorade during my workout i just noticed i stopped drinking water even in the morning i don`t drink water i just chew gum in the morning and dat works for me right till about 11am i have breakfast is dat ok

    I take mine an hour before breakfast. During that hour I get my cardio in. That seems to work for me. I haven't tried taking it later in the day because I'm afraid it will keep me up at night (have a problem with insomnia).

    I feel the same way...I am in week three and I dont feel the energy that I use to. I am not hungry so that is good. I hate it an hour before every meal and then I eat. I drink losts of water and decaf. tea. thats it!!!!

    Hey Sarah - that's awesome. Pretty interesting too - I didn't realize that the phen could be affected that way!
    I just started taking it again (as soon as I wake up) after a break, and I've noticed that I'm not hungry all day (especially if I workout for some reason) but then at dinner - it seems to have worn off. Maybe I should try some of these suggestions about taking it a little later in the day to help with that. I guess I'm always afraid it will effect my ability to fall asleep if I take it too late. I'll have to try it though. I'm glad you were able to figure out a way to make it work better for you!
    Martini - The caffiene effect was interesting too.. I hadn't made the connection. I drink coffee or Diet Rockstar or whatever in the mornings... but maybe it's causing the phen not to work as well later? Maybe I'm "crashing" - HAHA!

    OK, My doctor told me to take it around 9:30 am or 10:00 am...The first few days it worked great, no hunger, then I started to get hungry, I've had no extra energy. This is the end of my third week on phen. I started to try and take it closer to 9 am, but still, 11 am rolls around and I'm straving! I'm still eating very healthy though-between 1200-1600 calories, drinking plenty of water and working out 6 times a week, but the weight loss has been very slow, maybe 1-2 pounds per week. I don't know what's wrong?

    It seems that alot of people take it first thing in the morning before eating...I'm funny about taking meds on an empty stomach as I did that once (didn't read the label that told me to take it with food-my fault) and I got really sick to my stomach! Does anyone experience anything strange taking phen on an empty stomach? I can take it when I first wake up, but I get up at 6:30 am and have to be at work by 8 am, so I don't quite have 1 hour to wake before eating breakfast. But maybe I need to start talking it that early and see what happens, because for the past 2 1/2 weeks, I've had insomnia like nobody's business, I just completely lay awake at night and stare into space, so maybe the phen is working, but kicking in really late? Any advise?

    stefanie i take mine 5.30am i don`t feel no pain and then when am about to leave the house right about 6.30am i chew gum till 11am when i have breakfast or as soon as i get to work i take some yoghurt funny enough i haven`t lost that much weight just 5 pounds and i started a month and a half so why don`t u take it early enough then b4 u leave the house have some fruits, yoghurt, energy bar till u get to work i hope that helps a little

    Tomorrow will officially be 3 weeks on Phen, my first two weeks were okay, a few pounds here and there. But this last week has been very inspiring for me. I started the week at 188lbs and this morning I was at 182lbs. Every day I lost at least one pound. And one day I lost 2lbs.

    What I have been doing, is taking Phen as soon as I wake up in the morning (8am) and then when I get to work around 9am, I eat a yogurt (60 calories). Then at Noon, I eat a Frozen Cuisine (350 calories or less. Then at 3pm I either eat grapes, a sugar free jello, or celery sticks. And for dinner I eat salad and grilled chicken. Throughout the whole day I am constantly drinking water and if I start to get tired of it, I put a Crystal light pack in one of my bottles and that is 5 more calories. Or the Propel Fitness water (flavored), that is 10 calories. I dont even come close to my 1200 calories. I feel sooo energetic! As soon as I get home from work (7pm) I do a very intense workout tape, do a few hand weights, and a bunch of crunches. I have done it every day this week. I feel sooooooooo good every night going to sleep.

    Plus this whole week I had my period. I cant wait to see what I weigh tomorrow. I am happy and motivated again, so hopefully it will continue. I guess everyone works differently and I am glad you found what works best for you and your body!

    Others notice the weight loss mostly in my face, but I still dont. Its only 10lbs, but hey it is 10lbs when you think about it!!!!

    I have a long way to go to reach my goal but I am getting closer than ever! I havent had anything but water (or crystal light) to drink for 3 weeks! Thats crazy.. I was addicted to coke. At first I got some pretty bad migraines, but now I am fine. I am so proud of myself and hope this is some encouragement to anyone else out there having a hard time!!! Keep it up, if I could do it.. TRUST ME... you can do it too!!!!

    Next time you are in the grocery store - go and pick up two 5 pounds bags of sugar!!! That is a lot of weight. That is a tremendous success.

    Do you weigh yourself daily?? Might I recommend you only do so weekly? As hard as it is to wait, things vary throughout our week because we're women. The weather affects our fluid balance, which can make all the difference in a lb or two.

    Don't get frustrated!! I agree, you lost 10 lbs - that's a huge accomplishment. I lost 10 as well and I'm very happy with that. The second week was a stand still, but I'm OK with that. This is a journey and we didn't gain this weight in three weeks, so we have to be patient with our bodies in the process of getting rid of it.

    Be happy with today and what got you here, tomorrow will take care of itself.

    Although I have been following this forum for a couple of months now, this is a first post for me. So hello and a giant thanks to everyone on this site who have inspired and supported by posting.

    I started phen 10 weeks ago and have lost 32 lbs so far, most of it in the first 6 weeks. The effects of phen started to wear off around that time and so I would go off 3 days and then back on, etc., but then also tried new routines to help with my late-day through late-night hunger. So, what seems to be working for me now is to: get up, have a healthy breakfast -- high fiber bread, with smidge of peanut butter and berries, minty green tea, have my vitamins and SBGA with breakfast -- then do my aerobic exercise (4-6 mile walk/run), eat lunch at normal time -- again, very healthy, protein/veggies (lunch not a problem time for me either) -- and then at about 2pm take phen. Voila, no compulsive evening/night time eating. I must admit that I do drink red wine every evening and so I'm thinking that helps ward off insomnia. But also, the afternoon phen gives me energy to buzz around and do what I need to get done every afternoon, so I am much more active than I ordinarily would be. Since making this shift a few days ago, the scale has started moving downward again!

    Oh, and BTW, I weigh in every 2 to 3 days. I like having that feedback and I feel it helps keep me on track. Everyday weighing made me start to be too compulsive. When I did weight watchers, once a week was great on weeks that I lost, but on weeks that I didn't or gained, it was a total blow, psychologically. Now if I am up after two days, I review possible reasons why and try to refocus quickly.

    Hay Sarah---That is great that you figured out how the Phen works best for you! Sometimes you have to try something different to see results. But I'm glad it's now working for your benefit!!

    For me, I have to wait until 11-11:30am to get the best results and for it to last all day. But, it works for me, and that's what matters, right.
