Default A Harley, my in laws, Thailand-I'm not on my plane!

    [FONT="Comic Sans MS"
First I'd like to say thanx to dalako, Scat, Raquel, AuShucks, and the rest of you for lifting my spirits today. I was dreading this day for a week and a half now, and you guys made it so much more tolerable!
    So here's the story:
Today I was supposed to leave for a study abroad trip to Thailand for 12 days to go scuba diving exploring the marine life. I went back to school last year and decided this time around I'd try and do the things I took for granted last time like getting the most of my education-travel included.
Its a really long boring story, but basically when i went back to school my youngest 2 went to daycare, so I didn't have a second thought about what we'd do with the kids while I was gone when I signed up. Then my hubby got laid off for quite a while this spring, and to save money, we took the boys out of daycare until fall-which means they lost their places til then. So we decided to ask his sister to come up and stay with the kids. You must understand some things about my sister in law-she has lupus and a number of problems that go with, and a poodle that apparently has a seizure disorder. (The second one-where she finds these dogs we dont know!)
Anyway, she agreed. My two older daughters (11 &9) are very good about helping with the younger two. So they could hang out here for the week in the pool etc...hubby would be home evenings to help ease the culture shock, so I still planned on going.
    Until a week ago Sunday...
The Saturday before I was feeling a little guilty about not being here for my hubby's 40th bday on the 4th. So I went and bought him a Harley. Its been a joke between us for years, but I did it. We had my mother in law keep the kids Saturday night and went riding. We picked up the kids Sunday, and while we were there, she says "what are we going to do about the kids when Ronne(me) leaves?" Now mind you, the plan for my sister in law-her daughter, had been made 5-6 weeks ago!!! I lost it, and walked out. I later emailed her and we ended up in this horrible back and forth email fight for a week.
She had me so stressed out because she had this mantra going for about the last month, which I tried to ignore, that my sister in law couldn't handle the kids. I took my sister in laws word that she could. We had it planned, we had a schedule, and my girls knew what their responsibilities were to help.
But she was telling me constantly that she couldn't handle it, nor could they (my in laws). And she was trying to change the schedule, swap kids back and forth, run back and forth a few times etc... They live 45 minutes away, and have only been to our house 2 times in 7 1/2 years! I didn't understand why she now wanted to mix things up, take the kids out of their environment, separate them,....It was a huge argument over 5 days last week.
I asked my sister in law to be honest with me and tell me if she really thought she could handle it, and I really didn't get a definitive response.
So, at the last minute, I notified my instructors and told them I wouldn't be going. And I've been pretty sad today about not being on that plane-which I would still be on! Besides that, nothing seemed to go right today. It was just a rotten day.
So thats my rant. Sorry its so long. (This is the short version! LOL!)
sorry the pics so big-I'm just figuring this out. That's the hubby and the bike!

OH hon, i'm so sorry.....what a disappointment......((((HUGS))))) your SIL should have never said she'd take the kids unless she meant to do it...what the heck is wrong with her?!
I did it!! Reached goal and have been here for quite a while thanks to low carb eating and working out like crazy! Phen didn't work for me, but that isn't to say that there aren't other ways. God bless all of you!

AWWW Girl, sorry you missed your trip and had to deal with all that crap. Just remember, they ain't called OUTLAWS for nothing !! Mine lived about 5 miles away from me, and we only saw them 2-3 times a year - but that was fine with me they were trash and I didn't want my little boy to be around them ! Keep your head held high, things are gonna be alright. Just think - we have that picture of Scat to look forward to ! HEH HEH HEH.... And we need to bump her thread ALL DAY til we finally get to see her in her Tom Jones pants ! DEAL ??

Oh yeah, what a bike !! I'm sure Hubby was thrilled !

That just really really bites. Could not be more sorry for you. I'd love to say things happen for a reason, but that has little comfort and it really never comforts me when someone says it to me. I'd offer chocolate but that would **** too in the long run ... how about a fruit tray? LOL

Damnitalltohell - I sure would be hosting 6 kids (your 4 & my 2) for some serious fun if you were closer ... it would be like "Mom's leaving and we are having fun" because I just don't see you missing out on this.

Carmen calls her inlaws outlaws ... I call mine "By laws" because it's ONLY By Law that I so unfortunate to have mine. Grrrr.

So frustrated for you. I don't have much and sometimes never help with the care of my boys. My friends are all in the carreers and had their kids much younger. And for the 1st time in my life - I'm missing out on life's events and even though there is no better reason ie: 2 toddlers ... I still know the feeling and it simply s u c k s.

Anyway - congrats on the Harley. My friends had ONE ... she got tired of "riding" and said the heck with it and got one of her own a year later.
So maybe go buy get one of your very own? LOL
CHROME and more CHROME! Hope you guys get a lot of enjoyment out of it!

Things do happen for a reason. My little one's been running a fever-about 102 Tues & Wed. I never got it to break, but it went down.
Then last night around 1 I went in to check on him and he was COOKING! I got him up, took off his jammies, gave him some motrin & pedialyte and took his temp. IT WAS 104.2! I was up til after 3 trying to get it down, and finally had to crash. Rog (hubby) check him at 5:15 & said it seemed to have broke. He's still sleeping now, and I'm not waking him up. My "laws" wouldn't have been able to handle it. They panic too much and wouldn't have slept.....and of course I would have never heard the end of it!
Thank goodness for phen-I need it to get me thru today!
I like the outlaw and by laws! That makes much more sense than in laws! Who ever came up with in laws anyway?
Oh-and Raquel, I do chocolate almost every night. My one vice and I won't give it up! FRUIT BE GONE! LOL!

Thats not even a good pic. That was Saturday and he had worked 5-2 and met me at the Harley dealer. So he's in work clothes all dirty. When he's cleaned up, he really is HOT on that bike! (and off too!)
I was going to surprise him in a little bigger fashion-but it didn't work out. So I had to call him about 1:15 and tell him. It was funny tho'. I called and said "I'm sorry I didn't get financing for the bike you were looking at." (he was looking at a used sportster w/ a fat bob tank. blah) He said thats ok, he didn't really expect it. So then I told him "So I got the bike I wanted!" He was like " what, what. are you kidding. I'm gonna be sick. I gotta go, I gotta go......(repeat about 20X!) It was funny.
Raquel-We used to have the same argument about 16 years ago. He was in a bike wreck on a rice burner and always said his next bike would be a harley. I used to say I get one too, and he'd argue back that a girl belongs on the back. I rescinded after years of arguing as long as I could get my license in case he couldn't drive. Maybe someday.

I had to go wake up the little monster at 11! So far so good-no fever this am.
