First I'd like to say thanx to dalako, Scat, Raquel, AuShucks, and the rest of you for lifting my spirits today.I was dreading this day for a week and a half now, and you guys made it so much more tolerable!
So here's the story:
Today I was supposed to leave for a study abroad trip to Thailand for 12 days to go scuba diving exploring the marine life. I went back to school last year and decided this time around I'd try and do the things I took for granted last time like getting the most of my education-travel included.
Its a really long boring story, but basically when i went back to school my youngest 2 went to daycare, so I didn't have a second thought about what we'd do with the kids while I was gone when I signed up. Then my hubby got laid off for quite a while this spring, and to save money, we took the boys out of daycare until fall-which means they lost their places til then. So we decided to ask his sister to come up and stay with the kids. You must understand some things about my sister in law-she has lupus and a number of problems that go with, and a poodle that apparently has a seizure disorder. (The second one-where she finds these dogs we dont know!)
Anyway, she agreed. My two older daughters (11 &9) are very good about helping with the younger two. So they could hang out here for the week in the pool etc...hubby would be home evenings to help ease the culture shock, so I still planned on going.
Until a week ago Sunday...
The Saturday before I was feeling a little guilty about not being here for my hubby's 40th bday on the 4th. So I went and bought him a Harley. Its been a joke between us for years, but I did it. We had my mother in law keep the kids Saturday night and went riding. We picked up the kids Sunday, and while we were there, she says "what are we going to do about the kids when Ronne(me) leaves?" Now mind you, the plan for my sister in law-her daughter, had been made 5-6 weeks ago!!! I lost it, and walked out. I later emailed her and we ended up in this horrible back and forth email fight for a week.
She had me so stressed out because she had this mantra going for about the last month, which I tried to ignore, that my sister in law couldn't handle the kids. I took my sister in laws word that she could. We had it planned, we had a schedule, and my girls knew what their responsibilities were to help.
But she was telling me constantly that she couldn't handle it, nor could they (my in laws). And she was trying to change the schedule, swap kids back and forth, run back and forth a few times etc... They live 45 minutes away, and have only been to our house 2 times in 7 1/2 years! I didn't understand why she now wanted to mix things up, take the kids out of their environment, separate them,....It was a huge argument over 5 days last week.
I asked my sister in law to be honest with me and tell me if she really thought she could handle it, and I really didn't get a definitive response.
So, at the last minute, I notified my instructors and told them I wouldn't be going. And I've been pretty sad today about not being on that plane-which I would still be on! Besides that, nothing seemed to go right today. It was just a rotten day.
So thats my rant. Sorry its so long. (This is the short version! LOL!)
sorry the pics so big-I'm just figuring this out. That's the hubby and the bike!][/FONT]
