Well the chiropractor just wasn't doing it for me. After 5 days of horrific pain I finally went to the e.r. which, by the way, I hate because it's expensive and I was there for almost 8 dang hours!

They found out I have rheumitoid arthritis in my bones and one disc is bulging, so I'm on steroid shots and percocet and flexaril and motrin 800 and when none of that works, i can take a vicoden and pass out. This is all well and good except I can't be on phen, the steroids are making me want to eat like a horse and I've already gained a few pounds. I can tell in my waist and my face.

The doctor says that I cannot do all the workouts I had been doing due to the arthritis unless I want to not be able to move at the ripe old age of 40. sigh I am able to do water aerobics though, so not all is lost. Looks like I'll start needing support soon as I'm off this s h i t!

Hmm, maybe you should pick up a copy of this month's prevention magazine. I just read an article yesterday about a woman with rheumatoid arthritis. Although she can't do all the things she used to do, she CAN still do some things.
I'd also do some research on my own and make an appointment with a specialist. I'm not necessarily saying the ER doc was wrong. I think perhaps you need to explore this farther before you allow yourself to get too discouraged.

Sorry you are in pain. You poor thing, thats some intense pain you are going through to be taking all of that. Try not to worry about gaining weight on the steroid. I am off & on prednisone & it doesn't effect my weight.

Oh Girl, I am so sorry this has happened to you! Hopefully the steroids will help you and you'll be back in business in no time. I used to teach water aerobics and let me testify that it can burn as many calories and be just as good a workout if not better than anything else you may do at the gym.......I have a bad shoulder and kickboxing moves definitely sent it over hte edge to the point that I needed steroid shots....I will nver take a kickboxing class again........there's no reason to becasue you can burn calories doing other things and not have those quick jarring movements.........................................

Arent you glad you lost weight? Seriously, the more weight off your bones the better arthritis becomes, that is what they told my mother when she had her arthritis really bad in her knee.....
