HUGE PRICE INCREASE ON PHEN????

Hi All,

I just returned from my weekly trip to Costco and to have my Phen script filled. Doc gave me a 60 day supply of 15mg, so I was psyched. ( Normally, I always get a 30 day supply and have to get another one after a doc visit) Anyway, I went to the pharmacy and when they went to ring up my script, he said ok, one of your scripts is inexpensive and one is very expensive. So I asked, is the water pill expensive, he says no, $6 for 30 pills. I said so the phentermine is? He says yup, $96 for the 60 day supply. I said, no you must be mistaken. I was just here last month and had a 30 day supply of 30 mg filled for $17. How could a 60 day supply of 15mg be more expensive. Now I realize that I was getting double the amount of pills, so therefore the total should be $34-36 for a 60 day supply...right? He says, let me check, hang on. I said well wait, if this is going to be $96 for 60, just fill 10 days for me and I will go to Target and get the rest filled. They can transfer the script to them for me. He says, let me check on this. Comes back and says, Costco received a letter that Phenterimine has had a huge price increase. I can show you the letter in the computer here if you like. I said, No, please just fill 10 days worth, I will get the rest filled elsewhere. Well, a 2nd pharmacist who was returning from lunch, now walks in. So, off the guy I was dealing with goes to fill the 10 days. Two minutes later, he comes back and says, ok, when the other pharmacist returned, he said, just fill this 60 day supply at the old price. We (Costco)bought it at the old price, so just give it to her at the old price, but any new scripts, will be at the higher price. So, I did get my 60 day supply of 15mg for $36. Amazing, huh

So, here are my questions:
1) Have any of you been told about a significant price increase on Phen?
2) If so, where?
3) If not, where do you get your scripst filled?
4) Don't you think it is kind of strange that once I was taking my business elsewhere, the price changed??
5) So, now even Costco is scamming people? In this economy???

I dont get my priscriptions filled, my doctor actually just gives me the pills when im in the officce. I pay 50 dollars for two weeks of pills and the b12 shot. So its about 100 a month

Mine went up $6,maybe it's gas prices the cost of transportation is raising everything.

So, it's confirmed. Well I guess no more brand name for me. I am going back to phentermine. Maybe I will save my last Adipex as a momento.

My Dr. fills mine in his office for $20.00 so that I dont have to stop on my way home. So much easier for me. I take 37.5. And, the follow appointments every month are $50.00. , I dont use insurance for this.

I had my script filled last week and used the discount card. I only had to pay $19 for a 30 day supply.

When I got mine filled 2 wks ago it was $10 for 30 days, but my ins co covers Phen.

MAN THAT IS CRAZY!!! mine is still 10 dollars for 60 at sam's club. Mine is covered by insur. I hope this not the case.

I go to a weight loss clinic and get the pills from the doctor. It is $50 dollars a month which includes dr. visit, b-12 shot, and 30 days worth of pills...pretty cheap, i hope he doesnt raise his prices!!!

I noticed that too, I went to Walgreens Sunday and it had went up $6, I thought it was just because I went to different Walgreens.

hmmmm this is interesting.. but i dont buy phen i get the adipex.. (name brand) and i have script card to get it for 46.10 for 30days... sooo i not sure...

Whoa.. I wonder how else I can get phen besides the WL clinic I go to.. it's $35 for 7 pills or $100 for 30!! I am going to check with my insurance to see if I can maybe go to a regular doc instead!

That stinks.I buy mine at Sam's Club too.They are usually $26.72 a month for a 30 day supply of 30 mg.I have to get mine refilled this week,but I am going to call the pharmacy tomorrow to see if it did go up yet.I guess $6 isn't too bad,but geez-its always something going up

I took this drectly off the Costco website.

Generic Alternative $49.63 $80.95 $151.04
manufacturer 30 50 100

So, I guess prices did go up. That Stinks! I think I will need to shop around and see if other pharmacies are cheaper. If you know of a specific one, please reply. My insurance does NOT Cover the meds.

I just filled mine at Walmart. I take 30mg Phentermine. It cost $28 and change for 30 days. That is what it cost me last time. My insurance doesn't cover it.

If you go to www.freedrugcard.us you can get a discount card. If your insurance doesn't cover Phen (which most likely it doesn't), you can use this card. All you do is type in your name and email address then click submit. Then a card pops up and you just print it out. When you go to the pharmacy you show them the card and they punch it in the computer and you get a major discount. It seriously gets knocked down to lower than $20. The site said it will go down to about $13. I have not used this card YET. But this card is legit because is is a US website. US websites are ALWAYS legit.
I have used another discount card from yourR X card.com (don't put a space between R and X). You do the same thing with this card. You type in your name and email then you print out the card. I did this 2 weeks ago and $11 knocked off the total. I was really excited.
The first card a I gave you gives a WAY better discount though. Hope this helps...well it definitely will if you do it lol. Good luck!

Wow. I fill my 37.5 30 day prescrip at Walgreens and its $29.75 each month. I paid a $20 copay first month at doc but have a 6 month refill so only paying the $29.75 a month for 30 day supply.

Today I went to Krogers Pharmacy to pick up my prescription and it doubled, like 56.00 for 30 day supply of the generic! The pharmacist told me they had to switch manufacturers, so I told him keep those pills and I will transfer the prescription to Walgreens tomorrow and try the drug discount card.

Thanks ladies for the information for the discount card. Hope it still works since the prices have seem to increase.

Well, I get mine from a clinic here, and it's always $60.00, so I'm wondering if I should just move to look good. lol. However, I think it's like $25 for the actual pills and $35 for the visit to the clinic. I take the 37.5 and get a 30 day supply.

My next appt. is on Thursday, and I am going to get the generic phentermine dispensed in the office instead of getting Adipex, at Walgreens. If the office charges much more the typical $30.00, I am going to start the process of weaning myself from phen this month.

Goingforthin, So the other day I went to my Costco and had my R X filled. It costed me 42 dollars for 30 day supply of 30mg phen. They told me that the Free R X drug card did not cover phen. I left and didnt want to cause a hassle. When I got home I called them and told them that they did cover phen and therefore they overcharged me. The ** came to 18$ with the discount. I would print out that card and use it there.

BTW I checked out the site http://www.freedrugcard.us/ and they offer the phen at walgreens/cvs/riteaid for 18$ 30 day supply. If you have one of those in your area you may want to check it out.

Otherwise the free ** card site from above does work at costco. Take care!!

Ang- thanks for the info. I did print out the free drug card too and will use it. Thankfully, i do have the other pharmcies around too. So wierd with Costco...what is up with them trying to rip people off???? Hope phen rage does not lurk its ugly head at them. LOL
