down 5lbs but discouraged

Default down 5lbs but discouraged
So I weighed in today and I am only down 5lbs in one month. I am just feeling so discouraged. I know I should be happy with 5lbs. I have been on phen since April and I have never had a significant loss. I eat about 600 calories a day (i'm in a wheelchair so my intake has to be less than usual) but I do not count any fruits or veggies I eat in that 600 calories/day. I just think to myself, my god, what do I have to do to get this weight off me. I can't cut calories any further.

You need to up your calories,1000-1200 should be the minimum for the day,try eating 4-5 small meals a day.

Wow! So you are eating 600 cal a day that u add up then on top of that u think you are eating 600 cal worth of fruits and veggies? Did doc tell you it would be harder and take longer since you are in a wheelchair? Can you lift weights?

I can't. I only eat the 600 because I am immobile. I have no way of exercising so therefore I cannot burn calories like a normal person. The only way calories get burned by me is by what the body burns by basic bodily functions.

No, I eat no where near 600 calories in fruits and veggies. Here's a basic menu for a day for me:

Breakfast - Special K Bar - 110
Lunch - 1 cup mixed fresh veggies (don't count)
1 cup chocolate soy milk - 150
Snack - 1 Sweet Freedom Ice Cream Bar - 90
Supper - Baked Chicken Fries - 150
Snack - Yogurt - 90
Grapes

I can't lift weights because I have very limited mobility in my arms. Yah, they said it would go slow but I guess I just expect more.

I just looked it up and for your weight and immobility, you burn 2,500 every day doing nothing(BMR). You have to eat at least 1,000 calories a day to lose the weight. You're starving your body(been there done that) so that's why you aren't losing. I know it doesn't make sense and it's taking me forever to realize that you have to eat to lose weight.

I know that it is hard when you see the scale move slowly, but did I read right that you have lost 22 pounds so far? 22 pounds is great, remember there are people on this thread that are having the same problems you are with the scale moving and they aren't in a wheelchair. ( I have been there) I think you are doing amazing and you should be VERY VERY proud of yourself!!!!!!!! Healthy weight loss is 1 - 3 pounds a week you are losing a little over 1 so you are on target

okay 1 cup mixed veggies maybe 90 cal, did you doc give you this diet or did you come up with it by yourself? Take this with the concern it is given with. You need to eat more and eat things that have more nutrients. This is my advice, add more protein, eggs. leans meat. I eat avocados Love them, they are high in fat but are really good for you, and I know they are a food that helps me lose weight. I agree with goth you need more food. Talk to your Doc. Are you getting Phen from Primary doc or where?

Gosh, it just seems amazing that you burn that many calories doing nothing. Maybe i'll try my own experiment and bump up the calorie intake for a couple weeks and see what happens.

I agree. It looks like you are doing well by all accounts. Your calorie intake is a little on the low side though. Make sure you are getting enough water. I know I have said this before, but just in case you missed it, here it goes again. In the month of February, I lost 2lbs. THE ENTIRE MONTH! At first I was bummed. In the end, a loss is a loss. Hang in the, you are doing really well.

I came up with myself. I am going to take everyone's advice and bump up the calories for a couple weeks and see how it goes.

I am so glad to have this board and all of you to come to for help.
