Hey Teqsun! Congrats on the progress! Hopefully this sort of geeky explanation will help you understand what's going on. I remember being as freaked as you are the first time I started a weight loss plan like this.
You can quickly lose 5-10 lbs of water weight if you up your water intake drastically over what you were drinking before, because you body no longer feels the need to "hold onto" that water for fear of not getting more.
Also, keep this in mind, if you were eating approx. 4000 calories before and maybe burning 1800 of them in a given day (just by being alive) that's a surplus of 2200 calories a day. Now if you're eating say 1500 calories on WW and burning 1800 (just like before by just being alive) combined with an hours worth of exercise so let's say that's approx.500 calories burned (which may be a low estimate if you haven't worked out in a while as your heart pumps more when you first start exercising), thats means you're taking in a deficit of 800 calories a day now.
So if you combine that 800 calorie deficit with also the 2200 calorie deficit by just not eating as much as you were before, your body is no longer trying to figure out where to store an extra 3000 calories a day! (2200 +800)! It only takes 3500 calories to lose one pound. So 9 pounds seems pretty reasonable when you put it in perspective like that.
Your body will adjust to the exercise, the water and the fewer calories, but it's a pretty good trick when you can lose 9 pounds in a week. It's a great way to feel like you're making a difference in the beginning and stay motivated!
