    Red face Getting Discouraged!!

I have been taking Phen for almost a month now. I walk on my treadmill 30-45min 6days a week. Don't eat anything over 1200 calories daily. Drink plenty of water. And I have only lost 10lbs so far. I started out at 250lbs and now at 245lbs. I just thought I would start noticing a difference quicker than this. Am I not doing something right??

Don't get discouraged, but I understand how you feel. I've been doing the same things you have including more exercising and my scale hasn't moved since April 1st. I'm about ready to give up too. Did your dr. do bloodwork to check your thyroid? Mine came back fine but I'm going to ask him why the h*ll I'm not losing then. I know it's frustrating but hang in there. Eventually the weight has to come off.

In addition to Goth's good advice about having your labs done you may want to shake things up in either your diet or exercise routine.

Instead of walking on the treadmill you can try walking outside. Try a different cardiovascular exercise such as an elliptical machine. The elliptical will burn almost twice as many calories in the same time frame. Try an aerobics or yoga/pilates class.

When it comes to diet where are your 1200 calories coming from? Carbs? Fat? Protein? Sign up for a food/activity journal like the one on FitDay.com. If you track what you eat and what you burn you can see the results the following day. If you don't lose anything try something different. It's the only REAL way for YOU to see how what you do and what you eat will affect your weight.

In conrtrast to all that your body may just need a small break. Take 2 days off from walking or increase your caloric intake for a few days.

Most of all don't stay discouraged. We all come on hard times and plateaus. Just keep the long term goal in mind and you'll be just fine.

I completely sympathize with you. I started out at 245, lost 9 pounds and today I found that I've gained back 4. So now I'm at 239.5, which is really disappointing. I'm just trying to take everyones advice and stay positive and keep working at it.
    SW: 247 lbs
    CW: 236 lbs
    GW: 150 lbs

    5/8/08: 245 lbs (Start Phen)
    5/19/08: 236 lbs (-9 lbs, yay!)
    5/22/08: 239.5 lbs (+3.5 lbs, wtf)

Maybe try making your workout more intense? That has always worked for me.

I think maybe you need to stop taking the medicine for about a week. Taking it for a long period of time can cause you to become immune to it and it will stop working. Don't take any for a week or a couple of days. Continue to exercise and eat right, then start back taking it. It has worked for me that way!

    Default Thanks all!

I have incorperated intervals in my workouts on the treadmill. 1-2 min at increased incline and then back down. I even put in jogging 1-2 mins. And that's alot for me, because I am not a runner!
