Talking A story about a nurse

Hey everyone, just wanted go share a quick story about how a nurse reacted to my taking phentermine. I went to the ER 4 weeks ago with stomach pain that felt like it could be appendicitis. All us women know the difference between all our stomach pains because most of us feel a stomach pain every month. So I go in and 3 hrs later get in and see the nurse. I tell her what I'm taking and she immediately tells me I'm constipated and probably ate too much on easter. LOL she was weird, almost mean and ready to send me home, of course she didn't have the authority to. So the doc comes in and pushes here and there and says ya i think you will be in surgery tonight. Had the CT scan and sure enough confirmed I had appendicitis. So moral of the story is be careful of people like this nurse who make assumptions and are negative because you aretskig a diet pill.

I have had those type of nurses too,I have a nurse here at my house 5 days a week and most of them have been very pushy and treated me like a kid, needless to say they are not here anymore,I have a nice one now and e get along great.

The nurses I have met on these forums are great

    Hey,

I am a nurse too. Seems like she was a little burnt out and maybe should switch to a calmer unit! (ha ha). We get cranky at the end of our shift. No excuse though! Sorry she was so mean!

Yeah, at least all of us are not like that. I have my moments, but I never "assume" a patient's diagnosis. I always tell them "Let's tell the doctor your symptoms and see what he says." I don't want my patients coming back saying "Well, she said I had an ingrown toenail, but I ended up having cancer of the toe."

When I went to my first month weigh in and the scale showed I had lost 23 lbs, the nurse was really REALLY rude! Her response was "you must have something wrong with you! You may need to stop taking Phen. Either that or you just aren't eating." WHATEVER!!!

Cool Don't judge all nurses by one "Cranky" one!

I'm going to defend nurses, mainly because it takes a special type of person who devotes their life to taking care of other people. Most enter that profession because they want to help & aid elderly & sick people.

I also agree that she could have over stepped her bounds be giving you an opinion on what your problem was. That was for the Dr. to decide after he examined you.

But on the other hand, nurses do put in long hours & it could have been a rough day for her or him, but doesn't excuse her for being a little mean. Sometimes you just have to grin & bear it.

But hope things went well for you after that.

I just love when people say that... Being a critical care nurse myself, i feel i am always a pain the the A@@. People come in to the unit in some really bad situations and sometimes i have to probe family and friends and be really to the point to help to save someone's life.
I can see the heartbreak in their eyes and it just kills me but i need to know what they may have been doing before they got there.
Nurses are mini M.D.'s now we have way too much responsibility and we are always the first to get blamed. BUT saying that it should not make us mean... The people are there because they are hurting and we have the option of doing our best to make them feel better body and soul!
lessons i have learned......Never fry bacon when your naked.......

i also have to defend nurses.. because i am one!.. so sorry that you had bad treatment. i agree with mom with two crazy boys... we all have bad days.. and it's crap that she treated you like that. crap.. sometimes i'm treated worse by my patients! haha but before i came a nurse i ran into nurses that seemed like they didn't care at all about me.. so i completely understand where your coming from... and just in case that happens to you again.. you can always request a different nurse. that is your right! =) good luck with everything..
