    Default How Long on Phentermine???

Hi all - I have a question I've been pondering so I thought I'd finally just ask it.

I had heard that Phentermine was used short-term, but I'm seeing some people post who seem to have been on it longer than I thought you could stay on the drug. I am on my 9th day on the drug today and I'm already worried about what will happen when I have to go off it. lol I really hate the idea of having to go off it in 2 or 3 months. Just curious to hear how long we can keep taking this.....

you can keep it as long as your body doesnt get used to it, then you have to go off and give your body time to detox... but as long as your learing healthy habbits you should be fine.. if your not then you might wanna start cuz those 2-3 months off phen will be a killer for you

It depends on your doctor also, but LIbby is right, teach yourself good eating habbits and exersice. Plus getting off for a few months will be good because when You star again it will be like new and work good for you!! Once phen starts to not work for you your doing it on your own anyways, with or without the pill. I think our bodys become ammune to it after awhile, so it should be fine.

From all the research I have read, everything says that the drug really stops working after about 4 months. People mentally think they still need it but the body becomes accustomed to the appetite suppressant and it won't work anymore. Most docs say, why continue taking it if the drug no longer works? I agree but most people want to stay on it for fear of gaining, and because of the energy boost we get from it.
I doubt my doc will give me more after a couple months. We will see.

Phentermine is supposed to be a short term drug, meaning up to 12 weeks, according to a study done in 1996 phen was used for a term of 36 weeks with no loss in affects,it really depends on your body and the doseage you take

Perhaps those who are freaked out about it going off should give it a trial run, as long as your doc is okay with it. That way, you still have the mental crutch of knowing you have it handy if you freak out too much.
I went off for 2 months with no problems. However, I had some I could take if I felt I needed to and it was a mental comfort to me to know that. I did this during a time that I knew I could still go back to the doc for a refill. I knew I was still within the recommended length of time to be on it so there was no reason the doc wouldn't give me another script.
