Is There a differnece between Phentermine and Phentermine HCL?

Hello all! I am a newbie here....again. I took Phentermine 30mg years ago on and off and they were always a blue and clear capsule with little blue and white beads inside. I just decided to give Phen another try and when I got my prescription filled they were yellow pills and the bottle said Phentermine HCL. Is there a difference? Any help would be appreciated!

Hi.. I am new also. They do make 30 mg. yellow phentermine. Where did you get them from?

the hcl is hydrochloride, but i'm not sure why they put that in there so if anyone knows speak up..we had a pharmacist on here maybe she knows.

I got them from my regular doctor. I was just afraid they wouldn't work as well because I assumed the little blue and white beads int the blue capsule made them slow release to last all day. The yellow ones just have a powder inside. I called the pharmacist and they said Phentermine is Phentermine the different color is just a different manufacturer. we'll see I just started the yellow ones.

I'm guessing pH Control and neutralization,I could be wrong though.

maybe it was a cheaper way to manufacture the pills...when it doubt look at manufacturing costs...LOL...

Phentermine is immediate release. It always comes in tablets.
Phentermine HCL is extended release (or controlled release if that makes more sense) come in capsule form

My 15mg phen is in capsule but it doesnt say hcl on it.

If it's in a capsule it's probably controlled release. My 30mg capsule are, but they don't say HCL either. Of course...mine are in a bottle with a white sticky label with my name on it from the clinic....so probably not the best thing to compare to.

There is really no difference between the two, the immediate release just gives you more of a kick at first and wears off sooner. The CR doesn't really give you the kick, but lasts longer.

so the hcl makes it last longer? cause my tablets are hcl but i thought that only capsules were time release....

Hhahaha, I LOVE YOU GUYS!!!!

The yellow capsules are "RESIN" because they are generic of the extended release blue and white capsules (not be confused with the tablets). The resin helps the chemical bond (aka stick) so that it also has the extended release effect. If you drop your yellow capsules in a glass of water it will release some chemical, get goopy and hold some of the chemical and then stick to the glass...eventually releasing the rest of the chemical. Now drop your blue and white capsules in and it will dissolve but the lil beads will now do the same things as the full yellow capsule.

I noted this in another post about brand vs generic. The generic is the same chemical makeup, they just cannot copy the release or storage method.

thats fantastic.... I have started a little over two weeks and I'm exercsing every day.. plus on a 1500 calorie... and I have not lost anything..... mine are the blue and clear capsule 30mg.... what am I doing wrong....help....
